View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just using my PC this weekend and i tried to combine the 3 partitions in my master/primary hdd with my parition magic 8.0. After partition magic was done on its job, pc rebooted and i cant load xp anymore. have tried removing small battery, reinstalling with recovery CD and still wont load xp. i was getting diffrent things on the screen. first was that my pc hung on me when "booting to CD:" came, did something and next i got was mbr error 2, then i got disk boot failure after playing around with the PC.by the way my pc had acronis too. i figure it has something to do with it. i tried my recovery cd 3 tiems and after finishing the reinstall i still cant boot. i tried to use an xp boot disk and found that all my files are still intact and havent been reformatted.

It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

As a consequence of that, the tiles on the bottom of the screen are now in a different order than what I am used to. I want to change that so that the tiles on the bottom of the screen are in the same order as before.
Program does not appear to allow any changes in the order in which it opens the windows, so the only option would then be to change the order of the tiles after opening a worksession.
I would like to be able to connect to the existing open session in the console instead of loging in again.I use win2003 server at work, and XP at home. Normally I don't log off when I leave work since I like to come back in the morning and continue where I was. If while Im at home, want to add something to my work and use the remote desktop connection, I always need to log in and a new session is created, then I start with an empty desktop and have to get the applications up before I can continue working. It would be much nicer to connect to the existing session as I left at the office.Does anyone know what I need to set up/enable?

So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.

I have 3 PC's. I would like to connect to PC1 remotely from PC2 and 3, but there is a problem that I can't figure out. If PC2 is connected (to PC1) and I try to connect with PC3, I will kick off PC2 and connect. I don't wont this. How can I check if there is an active session on PC1 so that anyone who tries to connect first can see that there is another user connected?

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. Both generate the same error: "Internet (or Windows) Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The details show that ole32.dll is the guilty module. So far I've had no success in locating a solution. I am using Windows XP Home Edition. I should also note that the control panel won't function either since it is basically part of Windows Explorer.

A friend of mine installed the Mozilla browser and I didnt like it so I uninstalled it. Anyways to make a long story short..Since then,In the address bar (ie icon), and all my internet links (internet shortcuts) show as an unassigned file type now. So for instance if I drag an http link from my browser to my desktop...it does not show as an ie link anymore (just a random file type). So when I right click my internet links and say "open with" internet explorer it works. However...when I select the check box "always open with this program" it will not change all of my internet shortcuts appear with the "IE" icon like it should

Also, after shutting down the AOL, Windows XP would shut down the parental control program saying that it was malfunctioning.
