Installed New Motherboard: Results In Black Screen?
Nov 21, 2006
i just got a brand new motherboard i pluged in my hd, my video card, processor and ram all the things needed and off course power. So when i turned on, bios screen from motherboard comes up and then after updates all the new hardwares it goes to same screen of safe mode, i press go to safe mode and all of the sudden blue screen again... i go nuts so i go get another processor that i had (compatible with motherboard) turn on, same thing happen but instead of blue screen i just gets stuck...
I got my new system.. its been working like a dream, a proper gaming behemoth!Having got my 22" monitor on friday, I decided that now was the time to give it an overclock and see how it would do I used Ntune (I know I know!) and it hung a couple of times during its mucking about with clock speeds, etc I went out to sort something out in the garden, came back in and the screen had gone black during another hang.I reset the computer and on boot up windows would start up with the same black screen.
I just reformatted C:, and reinstalled XP Professional. Works like a charm, but every time I try to install SP2, I lose the screen resolution; it changes to a max of 4 bit color and 480 x xyz pixels as my only choice. I reloaded the monitor drivers for the hp pavilion f50 monitor, but that doesn't help. I finally loaded SP1, and that is fine, but I cant get SP2 to allow decent screen images... and SP3 had some other error when I tried to load it, and it wouldn't even try to install.
i just upgraded my cpu and i get a bios beep (which is just 1 long beep repeating) and nothing on my screen. i have an awardbios. had a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans 2.4GHz Socket AM2 62W Processor but upgraded to AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor i have a DFI INFINITY NF ULTRAII-M2 AM2 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 COOLER MASTER Real Power RS-450-ACLX ATX12V 450W Power Supply MSI NX8800Ultra-T2D768E-HD-OC GeForce 8800Ultra 768MB Video Card
i started installing Windows XP. I first did a reformat from WXP cd of my HDD after which XP copied some files to it. It then said it was gonna restard after 15 seconds that went by and restart after. It asked to press a key to restard from the CD but I didn't and the install should have kept on going on from there But the screen just stayed black with no activity going on at all. No beep, no restart,no CD spinning, but all fan running. I restart a few time, even restard the install always with the same result. Everything goed fine until the first restart happen.
Ive just installed a new motherboard and cpu but are now having issues getting going. The cpu is a AMD 3700 939 single core. The MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939. I have 1 gig of ram running on single channel and have tried swapping them out and moving them around with no success.I have a X850XT graphics card installed. If i try and boot with the existing os on the harddrive it just keeps going through the boot cycle over and over.If i try and run the XP setup it locks up where it says Setup is Starting windows at the bottom left of the screen. If i run Knoppix from cd all is good and i can get going and explore my harddrive etc.
I just got through a rough few days fixing some hardware problems and testing different things, to find out that my motherboard, power supply, and 1 of my 3 dimm of ram all went bad at the same time. Anyway I finally got it where the mobo would actually post and I get get into edit bios settings and stuff. My new problem is that since this has happened my windows does not load. It only goes to the screen saying it failed to load and I can choose safe mode options or normal.
Initially the computer had a spyware infection. While cleaning it up I got a message telling me some windows files had been changed and i needed to insert the Windows XP CD to restore them. Didn't have CD handy at the time, so I installed SP2 hoping it would replace the corrupt files. Soon afterwards I got a message on reboot saying Windows had recovered from a corrupt registry. I was going to do a SFC /scannow, but at some point I was no longer able to boot into Windows.
i would like to know how to or if its possible to uninstall microsoft .net framework. Also what exactly does it even do? I noticed that after installing .net framework 2.0 SP1 cod4 seemed to get odd stuttering issues. I installed .net framework 2.0 SP2 and the stuttering reduced however still more than before i ever installed SP1. Is it possible to uninstall it? and do i need more than just .net framework 3.0?
I have been trying for quite a while to load a new xp pro with service pack 2 .As soon as the files are loaded and the pc restarts the pc hangs. After trying this for about 20 times I decided to try something else. The PC had win98 on it so it was working .i loaded the pc with winxp pro but an older edition. It does not include any service packs .and seems to be running fine. Then I loaded servicepack one and still no problems with XP After loading the second service pack the pc hanged again at the startup.
When I installed the upgrade, I was prompted to activate the software. I've never seen anything like that on any other software, so I looked at the manual before selecting yes and discovered that activation is required to insure that the software is installed on only one computer. I purchased the package from a guy whose computer died. He bought a new computer with XP already installed,so he no longer needed the upgrade package. When I try to activate the software what is going to happen?
I've just noticed that after installing AVG Free 8.0 and ZoneAlarm Firewall that my computer's startup time has increased dramatically. Is there anything which you can advise to decrease this again? The startup time before installing these two programs was almost instant. Could it also be down to the low amount of disk space which I have available at the moment (15.5GB of 181GB free)?
Last night I connected a friend's HDD to my PC so he could back-up some files onto my PC before he formatted his.He did that, and then insisted that he needed to format it ASAP,so he did so using my cables. So I turn my PC on later I find that most of the contents of my desktop are missing, and that several Apps are as well.I look in C:Documents and Settings and notice a new profile called "TEMP" alongside my normal profile with many of My Documents and personal settings for apps. For some reason, my PC loads up this TEMP profile only now, as opposed to my normal one.
I've recently allowed Microsoft to install his WGA program because I have a genuine copy of Windows XP installed on my computer. After this wga.exe got installed my computer get's unstabled and cause several instance of a process called dumprep.exe to consume all your cpu time and memory usage leaving my computer unstable which causes my mouse pointer difficult to control until I end these instance of this process. I know how to unstall this WGA but if I do then I won't get any crital update. Have anyone else experience this problem?
I recently 'upgraded' the family computer (running XP pro) with SP2.we've had a number of problems with programs no longer working after the upgrade. More specifically, Internet Explorer, Outlook, Norton, and HP Precisionscan Pro 3.1 (to name a few) are causing us grief.Outlook will load, but as soon as you try and view a new message, the program crashes.Internet Explorer will open, but immediately closes before any page can load. (I've installed Firefox in the meantime, so I'm sure it's not the internet connection).
I've been battling it out with a filth ridden computer for days, appear to be almost on top of it. It is completely clean of virii/malware/spyware I just installed SP2 on it, and since then it has been exceptionally slow to boot.Following the initial boot screen, the screen goes blank for over 2 minutes It then gets to the black screen with the grey progress bar along the bottom. It takes at least 5 minutes to get through this progress bar.
Today, I tried to start up my XP computer; it gets to a splash screen saying that the motherboard is optimised for the Intel-P4 combination (which always pops up after POST and before the system boots up) and it just stopped. Rebooting encounters the same problem.I can't boot from floppy, CD, or DVD drives, and cannot get to the BIOS setup (hitting the appropriate key just gives me a blinking cursor on a black screen with which I can't type). There is obviously something seriously wrong, but it's beyond my very limited skills.
This all started out that I was having a microphone audio recording problem the other day and was trying to solve that...A couple of days ago, I did a complete HP System Restore on my computer to try to fix the problem, not realizing that it would do all that it did to my computer. Im having to re-install alot of my programs, etc. Now When Im trying to watch a video online, if I click the 'full screen' view it comes up just totally white screen with no picture at all.
its my previously-formatted HP Pavilion dv5201tx! The problem is as the title above. I can go into safe mode. I've used system restore twice. And in Documents and Settings folder I noticed it has:
Administrator Administrator.computer description name Administrator.computer description name.000 username1 username2
Is it creating more user folders? At some point Administrator.computer description name.000 wasn't there. Corrupted registry hive? I'm not sure! Restarted many times, used Last known good configuration, and it's still black after the boot screen. Please help!
My laptop has started to freeze at times, then the screen would blackout then appear with a black screen with a blue box inthe middle giving BOOT DEVICE OPTIONS Hard Disk Drive, CD-ROM/DVD, Floppy Disk Drive, LAN Boot it froze blacked out and now keeps going to this option page ,where as before if you turn off then on it rectified itself.
when I turned on my computer and got the blue screen of death, so I restarted my PC. Then a black screen came up saying "Windows could not start beacuse the following file is missing or corrupt : windowssystem32configsystem."
You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.
i get this error when i tried to open up my computer, first the windows xp loading screen works fine, then after that the screen just goes black and stays like that forever. this happened when i tried to uninstall a USB Bluetooth driver and it was requested to restart my pc so i did, and after that restart i cant get in no more, the screen just goes black after the windows xp load screen. im wondering how can i fix this problem? please help me guys... thank you.. and o yeah one more thing.. when i tried it on safe mode it went to the welcome screen but after that when i try to move my cursor i didnt move at all then i restart my pc again and the whole thing happens once more
friend whose computer has crashed the screen had frozen. He could do nothing except reboot it using the power button but on rebooting, there was a 'no signal' message on a black screen. We have checked the monitor connections (the monitor works when connected to his second computer) and even replaced the video card but of course this made no difference (no signal) We've taken out the HD and installed it on his second system. Does this mean that the most likely cause now is the motherboard/bios or is there something wrong in our approach/deductions
My computer screen freezes up after a while, then turns into a blank light blue screen and then into a black screen. I have used regcure, PCMedkit, and PC Doc Pro I have also tried some of the online help for a fee but nothing seem to work. Lately when trying to reboot I got a blank red screen. I'm using xp pro and a Nvida GeForce 9400GT GRAPHICS CARD.
I have this strange problem:I can't see my Bios loading .The screen is totaly black untill the windows' welcome screen , and then everything is back to normal. It happened when I updated my motherboard Bios (Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI ,Rev. 1.0) through the original vendor's Website
The start of my problem is that I was receiving an error 'cannot initialize lsass.exe service'.After repairing XP SP2, the following is displayed every time that I boot:SAFE Mode - black screen with 'safe mode' in bottom corners of screen Windows Mode - blue screen. The mouse is responding. There are no icons. There is no text (except for 'safe mode' as above)CTRL/ALT/DEL does not display task manager.CTRL/ESCAPE does not display anything.Clicking on various parts of thescreen has no effect.I have replaced Explorer.exe from c:i386
my computer would give me a few problems while booting up. I would start the computer, it would run through BIOS, run through the Windows loading screen, and after that it would run the CHKDSK to make sure my disks are fine. CHKDSK doesn't work, it just freezes right before checking the disks, so I restart and generally it will boot up. Most of the time it would boot up perfectly, but rarely would it go to the xp loading screen and then flicker as if it as going to go to the windows login screen but wouldn't. The screen would just stay black and I'd have to restart.
Next time, generally it would work perfect. So this brings me to the current day. After the windows xp loading screen, it goes black. The computer is on, but I don't see any activity for the HDD via the LED. SO i go into safe mode, i finally get CHKDSK to run, I had to really mess with some stuff to get that working. Windows says the volume is fine, and the only way I can boot my PC is in safe mode, but even that will freeze sometimes while loading some of the files.
Why can't I change my screen resolution? I recentely reformatted my WindowsXP and I can't seem to change my SR anymore. It says this message "Input not supported." Any reasons? I can't stand 800x600
Every now and then, sometimes when selecting Media player, I get a BSOD with the following error.DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Stop: 0x00000001 Cmaudio.sys Address F73DE878 Base F73CB000 the only thing I can pick up on is the cmaudio.sys part which is something to do with my soundcard, but thats as far as I can get with it.
I am trying to watch video playback on my tv. I am using a dell Latitude 610 with an s-video output cable. All displays are fine except video playback. I have used windows media player9, windows media player classic and nero. The video box opens fine and playback occurs on the laptop but I get a purple screen in the video box on the tv. resolution has been changed from 600x800 to 1024x768 with no change in video display.
