View 14 RepliesMy PC is infected with some bad stuff and I'm not sure what to do. So far I have tried to run Spybot S&D, Registry mechanic, ewido anti-spyware, Spyware Doctor and SpywareBlaster all of these programs seize when carrying out a scan and I have no option but to close the pc down with the power button. I am pretty much at a loss as what to do next and was hoping one of you kind souls could help me. I am running xp.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI hava a PC with Windows XP Proffesional 1.6GHz P4 with 384 Mb RAM. I have 2 harddrivers 1) 40Gb Total 10Gb Free 2) 120 Gb total 92Gb Free. It has worked very very well for a couple of years but in the latest month it has become so slow. I have been infected with spyware and as everyone else that used IE been hijacked but I have removed all those programs and adds regarding "Hijack"
What happens everytime I, for example, end a program is that all the icons on my desktop disapear and one after one is coming back first with a "system icon" then it get its natural look. Another example is that it takes so long time to start the webbrowser (FireFox). I really don't know what can be wrong,
I had a message that my PC is infected by Spyware/adware this morning and it took me to PSGuard.com to install something to disinfect my PC. is it OK to use this or should I use something else?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI desperately need help.I have been infected by NetWorm-i.virus@fp,w32.myzor.fk@yf,psw.x-vir spyware,cyberlog-x and w32.myzor.fk@yf. I dont know anything about computers and I dont have a clue about removing these viruses.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are two excellent spyware removal apps available and they are both FREE so there is no reason to not use them regularly. The two best apps there are for removing spyware are SpyBot Search & Destroy and Ad Aware. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU USE BOTH OF THESE APPS SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES AND VICE VERSA, YOU ARE NOT SAFE USING JUST ONE OF THEM. There is one other app that I HIGHLY recommend is for spyware prevention, SpywareBlaster. This app sets certain registry entries that prevent spyware from ever installing, it DOES NOT run in the background using any resources, you just set it and forget it. Once you have installed these three MUST HAVE apps you then need to update them and keep them up to date. I would recommend checking for updates weekly, it’s just like your antivirus app, you need to stay protected from the latest spyware out there. To update SpyBot just open the app from your start menu (use the advanced mode option) and select “search for updates” it will then show you what updates are available for download, always install all the updates. Another feature that SpyBot has is called “Immunize”, you will see an icon for it. Select the icon and under “Permanent Internet Explorer Immunity” select “Immunize” this works in the same way as SpywareBlaster in blocking new spyware. It also gives you the option of locking your hosts file against hijackers, I highly recommend using this option as well. To update Ad Aware just open it and select “Check for updates now”. For SpywareBlaster it is mostly the same, open it up and select “Check for updates” once you update this you then must select “select all” and then “Protect against checked items” so that the updates you just did take effect. Anything these apps find is spyware and should be removed, if you choose not to remove what is found then you have no one to blame if your pc crashes due to spyware or your privacy is invaded (including these companies stealing your credit card number and identity

other day my desktop came down with something. windows has slowed to a crawl.. if i click on the start menu, 2 minutes later it will pop up. if i click on a program (firefox, for example) it will never open and the whole comp will just sit there frozen forever.. if i leave it for a few hours like that, firefox will have finally opened.. once in firefox.. it seems i can move about a bit quicker.. but its still unbearably slow. in (advanced) processes menu everything is fine, and the cpu level seems to be where it should be, nothing using up all the cpu that i can see.. after a restart (by holdiong the power button down), i can move around normally for about 1-2 minutes then it basically freezes up again. next i went on my laptop to look up names of processes (to see what they do) and 10 minutes later, the laptop is doing the SAME THING.also, my friends computer seems to be doing the same thing. I was sending some emails with attachemtns to him recently. (eMail worm?)
i can only get them to function in safe mode, and the weird thing is.. bit-defender says its clean of viruses, and ive used search&destroy, spysweeper, ad-aware, and nod32 to clean out most stuff.. but nothing seems to help. also, it seems that S&D will find a bunch of stuff and clear it out fine, and if I run the check again immediately after it finds the same bad stuff again. this is only in regular mode, in safe mode it finds nothing.
I admit I screwed up. Ventured off onto another page looking for something (andr) I think and I caught something. So I have cleaned what I can but I am still getting a lot if pop ups. I did also get hooked with spysherriff. As I type I have a total of 15 IE pages opened mow. Have to keep closing. I am running Trend Micro housecall.antivirus and along with AVG. But no help. I am including a log of Hijack this as well as Rootkit Revealer. I don't know where else to turn................
View 9 Replies View RelatedThere is an unwanted background on my desktop. It is a warning that my computer might be infected with a virus and I suspect that the virus or pop up program actually switched to this file from my previous background, which I would like to restore.I have tried but when I go into Display and Desktop and Background, I can not choose any of the selections. This is a vexing problem, the security warning currently set as the background is ugly.

I can't get to any other websites besides the one for this program as an alert pops up on the browser sayng my computer is infected. Also everytime I try to open a file a "Windows Security Alert" pops up and says that whatever file I sm trying to open is infected. This is a probloem because I have tried opening task manager, system configuration, and even using the run function wiuth different commands and nothing will open! I also tried downloaging Ad-aware on my external harddrive and then running it from there but it won't open either!

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am servicing computers everyday for both business and home users and the vast amount of computers are infected with this whole family of viruses by names like Personal Security, Window Anti-virus, Antivirus7, Security Guard etc.I see these ransom-ware infections getting past everything from the free Anti-virus programs to the most expensive anti-virus programs, especially with home computers that are use for Entertainment Purposes and always because the users were browsing the Internet and are tricked into clicking on a fake warning of infection or security risk. Once they are tricked into that initial click, life goes downhill rapidly as the infection installs itself and then takes deeper root as the user clicks on subsequent fake screens. If they don't register the fake program, it will proceed to convince them to register by progressively turning off more and more Windows features. My question to the knowledgeable users of this forum is:Does anyone know of an antivirus/spyware program or combination of programs that can catch these infections as they initially try to install from that first ill-fated click while browsing the Internet?I have tried all the Big names to varying degrees of disappointing success.Would registered versions of MalWarebytes or Super AntiSpyware be effective?
