Bold_Fortune stated it's safe to delete all KB .cat files; however, there's an error entry in the dberr.txt log for every one that I deleted.Do I need to reinstall the KB Hotfixes since I deleted their corresponding KB .cat files? Are KB .cat files important, or is this just Microsoft's XP complaining there's a problem that really isn't a problem?
when I start my ms outlook 2007 I get this error. "Errors have been detected in the file 'file_path'. Quit all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox Repair Tool." I tried to scan with scanpst.exe but it went in vain.I tried it with other applications it worked fine. But,the problem is they all are demo versions and I gets back only 5 to 6 mails for more mails i have to buy that applications. Do we have any free tool that can fix my problem or any other way to fix this.
I have a laptop, and a file named 1.tmp has appeared (how or why I do not know) in my c/windows/system32 folder that throws up an error message window saying it cannot find the program to run the tmp file, and that appears on my screen every time I log on.So; I thought I could simply go into the sys32 folder and delete the 1.tmp file by putting it in the trash can, as it obviously does not belong there.BUT it will not let me, if I try I get an error message telling me I do not have access or the disc is full even when I use the administrator level so now I am completely at a loss and I do not understand.
I am running Win XP with SP3. My start-up is slow and I have run virus and spyware tests so decided to download Event Log Explorer to see if it would identify the problem. Have just run it for the first time and it found loads of Errors and warnings. Sadly I have no idea what they mean. They refer to programmes I have never heard of and can't find on my computer.
I would like to see if all data files in my computer are still healthy, i.e. they haven't been damaged or corrupt yet. Manually opening one by one is not an option. There are literally millions of files. I knew the System File Checker but it is only for Windows system files. I want to check the health of all my data files. Disk checking, as far as I know, has nothing to do with file corruption. The drive can be healthy even if some files have been corrupt unrelated to drive failure reasons.I tried to search on the net but couldn't find any.
My old m/b got fried, so i changed to another m/b and used the same hd for it, and i reinstalled windows XP after deleting the previous, but now when i'm trying to access a folder or file, i get this error "Document may be write protected or encrypted", i really need to open this file, how can i overcome this error?
When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup. A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.
The family computer is playing up and to the best of my knowledge the computer in question just simply suddenly stopped working as it should. I am unable to get the 'default' welcome screen upon start up and am getting the logon box where you type in a username and passworld. I know how to get rid of this, user accounts>enable welcome screen - but it will not solve the problem. This is just the start of the problems. I get a whole host of errors which popup one after another.
I am being shown "script error","page error, you may need to change browser settings",and "behind firewall" when I try and send files and photos. I've tried everything I know to fix this, but I still see these errors and still cannot send photos while I'm online.
Running Disk Cleanup, when this Windows File Protection comes up saying a system file has been replaced with a unrecognized one. It wants me to put in my Operating System CD, but I don't have one. I bought this computer and the required files are already on the computer. So what should I do?
.dll errors. Not a single one in particular. Random ones. Two today were mshtml.dll and ietutil.dll. Microsoft has some, but not for an XP computer. I do not know anymore if it is a service pack 2 or 3 since my brother in law took our Compaq computer and made one on his own with old and new parts. What are .dll and why do these errors keep popping up.
When SP3 first came out, I jumped at the opportunity to update my perfectly running smooth computer with SP3 for windows. As soon as I did install SP3, nothing seemed to work correctly anymore and I had to end up reformatting my computer. It destroyed my perfectly good up to date computer. Yes I have a genuine copy of Windows XP if that's what you were about to say. So my question is, did anyone else every have a problem with SP3, are their known issues, and should I risk installing it again? I have always believed in if its not broke, then dont fix it. Well, sometimes my high hopes and curiosity of updating will improve performance from what it already is, gets me in trouble sometimes. Let me know guys. I will hold off for a bit.
I am running Win 2000. My computer will restart (no hanging even, just turn off and back on) while I'm looking at flash media on the net, using photo/art programs, or viewing a word document with pictures in it. Mostly media related things. It also crashes for running defrag or disk cleanup.
When it restarts it's a blue screen stop error. I don't recall what it said exactly, but it's not difficult to get it back. If I keep restarting, I'll keep getting that error. If I wait a minute or so and then restart, it'll come on correctly.
Win 2000 is on D and Win 98 is on C. When 2000 crashes it does something to C because then 98 won't start untill 2000 comes on and repairs the C drive. But now 98 won't come on at all. If I turn on 98 I get an error, so then I'll try 2000 but it won't start for a while after 98 crashes. I don't see why crashes on D affect C and vice versa.
That probably wasn't enough to tell what's wrong.what I should do?
The procedure entry point DdEntry1 could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll
That's the error message I'm getting. I get it from the ATI and XFire. Also, I can't play certain games anymore, because they are prompting me to download dx9.0c
speed up my pc because it takes forever for my computer to startup. So first I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled things I didn't think I needed. Then I found some software online that is supposed to help clean your windows registry. So here's what I installed just this morning: RegCure and Pareto Logic Privacy Controls. I ran scans in both and ran the auto fixes for both. but now i am geting start up error
I just wanna know if a bad xp cd when installed can make most programs not install, getting errors while trying to install making internet browsers crash and blue screen of death? forget the hardware and everything else, it is checked and is completely new, i just wanna know if a bad windows xp cd can cause these problems?
1---I have just WAYYYYY to many pop-ups about 6-8 an hour, even on idle computer. 2---It is so slow. When minimizing a page, I watch it close from the top of the screen to the bottom and that takes 15 seconds, and sometimes my icons are missing when it finally fully minimizes. 3---After booting up it takes me a good 5 minutes before the mouse's "time-sand" icon to dissappear, therefore not letting me do anything with the computer right away. 4--Sometimes when using websites like "google" or "yahoo" from internet explorer, there is a big delay from when I type in the words, and those words to appear on the screen. 5---Streaming movies from websites are rarely synchronized with the sound and the picture on the screen, something that none of my friends have. 6--I revently purchased an external hard drive, and ever since doing that a message comes up within seconds of turning on my computer that reads something along the lines of "Unkown Devise, hit any key" then it boots up normally (note: The slowness of the computer has happened way before the external harddrive, and purchased it with hopes that would cure some of the problems)
I've had a problem with these for months. Norton Antivirus (updated) couldn'y stop this and I use XP Home SP2 (automatically updated). I've tried running Ad-Aware SE Personal, CWShredder, SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search and Destroy and Microsoft AntiSpyware and am currently using EZArmor. None of these remove the problems I get. I've been told of HijackThis but have been warned against using it as I am not an advanced computer user. How can I get rid of these problems? The main problems are: 1) Unsolicited desktop icons that keep returning when deleted e.g. Casino Online, Find a Date, etc. 2) Unsolicited folders in favourites that cannot be deleted e.g. Cool Stuff, Online Gaming, Shopping Gifts, etc. 3) A thick blue menu bar at the bottom of screen with click on items and pull-downs menus of things similar to the above. The blue bar cannot be removed by clicking on the red X in top RH corner. 4) Home page often reverts to Searchweb.com and has to keep being changed back 5) In "Tools", "Pop-up blocker settings" is set to "high" but still lists lop.com and searchweb2 as being allowed even if I keep removing them. 6) I get scam emails every so often, mostly for prescription drugs, loans, mortgages, etc. 7) I get regular pop-up advertisements 8) Internet frequently has to close itself down because it has "a fault" - whether this is due to any of the above, I don't know.
not a serious issue but its getting annoying. when i have a windows/programs the boxes on the task bar flash randomly. kind of like when you get a message through AIM but for any program/window. also when i click on them to bring the specific box to the front it doesn't do it. anyone run into this before? it was running fine up until i installed this TV tuner card but i have no idea how that would effect it....
So this started about a week or so. At first i simply had thought i had a bad virus but i scan my entire computer and all i found was cookies and what not. Soon my computer started randomly shutting down on me and a blue screen comes up. It pretty much says i have some errors and i should check CHKDSK/ F to see if i had any corrupition on my files.. Well i didn't exactly get it so i googled the stuff. I came to the conclusion that my computer has A LOT of computer errors. (use Regcure free trial) even though it couldn't delete.
So I started up my computer a few days ago to find it telling me I had a missing or corrupt file in windowssystem32configsystem. Now when I bought my computer I was sold the XP home license, and it just came with my computer, and have never needed the setup CD.So I went to the place I bought it, told them what happened they burned me a copy.So I boot off the cd, and enter the setup repair, it asks me for a password, I have never had one, default past with enter and continue on to try and fix it.Now this is where it gets interesting, I restarted to see if I had fixed the problem, and when it restarted my computer seemed to begin to load windows, when my computer suffered a LSASS.exe error, and restarts. So it eventually allows me to go back to the setup repair, but this time when it asks for a password, it doesn't allow me to default past by hitting enter. It tells me I have entered an incorrect admin password and after 3 tries, it says I have failed 3 times and then restarts. So I Googled the problem, and found it might have something to do with Sysrep(which im not familiar with) I have some important files on the computer I need rescued. Basically what I am wondering is if there is a way to bypass this new password problem, or any way I could extract certain files from my hard drive without repairing windows.
When I right click almost anything I get the explorer has encountered a problem and has to close. always the faulting module kernel32.dll. Then immediately another box appears with the drwatson postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close, I then have to ctrl alt del to close the drwtsn.exe and get my desktop back. I have been having problems in psp7 with ntdll being the faulting module. I run the bare minimum start up programs and have ran all virus and spyware scans. I have googled this problem until. Im running windows xp pro sp2. AMD 2400 Have loads of disk space and plenty of free RAM.LV.
I've been experiencing random crashes of Explorer.exe, and when looking at the Application window of the Event Viewer it details this:
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.1106, fault address 0x00001d24.
I searched around the internet and found no real answer, there's some solutions which require using the Data Execution Prevention tab with SP2, and adding explorer.exe to the list. I plan to try this, but I was wondering, would replacing ntdll.dll with another computer's possibly fix the problem? It's been an annoyance now for a month, and I've ran every virus scan, every spyware/malware/ware-ness program known to man, to no avail.
Ever so recently, since a few days ago, I have started receiving 'RUNDLL' Errors as soon as I boot up, I'll be at the Windows Welcome screen when I hear that annoying 'BONG' sound that I got an error.
3 Errors Pop Up and I will list them here.
Name: C:WINDOWSConfigcsrss.exe
Description: Windows cannot find 'C:WINDOWSConfigcsrss.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again, to search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. (It seems that it is an error after I SEARCH for a file, but I never did, it just comes up on start-up
They ONLY pop when I reboot/restart windows and desktop loads. I just recently have been experiencing some RUNDLL errors the errors are as follows... "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32fohofamu.dll The specified module could not be found." "Error loading C:WINDOWSsystem32mosayibo.dll The specified module could not be found."
Here are errors I am getting at the startup of my computer: Error loading C:DOCUME~1ALIMAL~1TempRarSFX2HNETPO~1.dll The specified module could not be found and: Error loadind C:PROGRA~1COMMON~1systemmsdc32.dll
