I have tried and tried through hp online help but no one has been able but to show me pages on how to use it. And uninstall and reinstall the program.But I cannot use it because no short cut at the top of the page.

All worked as normal Printer icon would print automatically with default print settings; File -Print would bring up print properties dialogue box to select options.Unhooked printer from laptop. Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer.How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just starting using another computer and found out that it does not have a parallel port for my printer. So I purchased a usb - parallel cable. Hooked it up to my HP 722 printer, set it up, made it the default printer. When I go to print, a page comes out blank. I tried Word, Notepad, Wordpad, and still nothing. It does however print from the internet with no problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the Microsoft Fingerprint reader to run on my Windows XP MCE system It works fine for the most part, but I can seem to change any settings for a previously configured logon page When I reach a logon page which I have set up to use the fingerprint reader, an icon appears in the title bar next to the minimze/restore buttons. The flyover help says I can click on the icon to edit the signon information for
this page. However, when I click this icon, all I get is a dialog with the hightlighted fingers just telling me to use one to signon.Am I missing something? How do you edit signon information for a previously

I am running XP. This file icon, shows up, in Control Panel. Right click, willnot open. cannot delete it. How do I, find out, what it is? What program put it there? And Delete it? It is a, basic icon, page with a folded corner.

But this is a new day maybe a year or so later, NOW I do have Real Arcade again and the puky Realplayer and now again on my Comcast homepage in the lower left corner I am getting that little yellow warning Icon. This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an old Sony VAIO (running Win Xp) that I am using a print server. The VAIO is connected to a HP PSC. The VAIO is on a wireless network along with two other laptops. One laptop is running Win Xp and the other is running Vista. Everything was working fine as far as printing went until I reinstalled the OS on the Win Xp machine (same OS). Previously the VAIO would go offline due to hibernation and so if I tried to print something from the Xp machine, it would get in the queue and get printed when I turned the VAIO on. Now the print jobs are not getting in a queue when the VAIO is offline.I don't know what I did right before and so I don't know how to remedy the problem.

The end result is a laptop that now requires a smart card to log in but won't proceed to PIN verification when a card is inserted. It is not connected to the domain that enabled the smart card policy, and I can't log in to attach it to that domain to remove the policy. I'm reminded of a program that can reset a windows password by rewriting the HD sector it resides on, is there something like this for group policies?

I have been wanting to purchase a smart phone or a pda, so I may review, answer emails and check internet sites while I am out of my home office. I have been told that pda's are slow. My current carrier is Cingular, and I do like the Treo 650 and don't mind paying $350 but the monthly charges are horrendous $45 for an unlimited data connect this is beyond your monthly voice charge. I am looking for alternative and I am willing to change carrier but don't know who to go with for less expensive charges. With technology where its at, I thought I'd be able to be constantly on, a la Dick Tracy through my watch.

I installed a new modem the other day cause the old one got fried. Now I am trying to print and the printer keeps giving me an error message, "this document fail to print." I tried all possible troubleshooting techniques but nothing help. I don't know what to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer won't boot...the master HD had a SMART failure. I've decided to replace my current master HD with a WD 80gig. I also have an identical WD 80gig slave on my system (which I do not want to reformat). Seems simple...however, My slave is the current c: drive. For some reason when i reformatted last time it automatically named my root drive g:...no idea. And to get my computer to recognize my ipod i needed a c: drive so i ended up changing my slave to that via a program in xp. Does anyone know if this will be a real problem when i go to format and partition the new drive? Will it show both HDs without assigned letters? Should I install, format, and setup xp on the new HD without a slave attached and then add the slave later?

I am operating Windows XP...I just had a new video card put in it..things don't seem right, as in my font is really small ( i have changed that under "apprearance and themes" and under "view" on my tool bar..but when I type regular it is so small and light..also when I open anything to do an email or a message at a group the body where the message goes is really small as well... especially if I go to an MSN Group. Before the body was larger and I could see everything I typed. Could this be a setting problem that I don't know about or could it be that the video card is not right. They had to order it and it took months to even get it back. I am so at a loss on what to do and aggravated at the same time.

It uses smart cards for verification and all works when I am logged in locally, but when I try to use it from remote computer, it expects that the smart cards are on the remote pc, and doesn't see those that are already on the host. I tried to turn off the smart cards redirection in the group policy, but that didn't help.

Right before it starts to install the drivers, it says that some files need to be deleted and that I have to restart. So, I restart, and the installer comes back up, only to tell me to restart again. I got past this when I ran the installer in safe mode, but I was unable to start the Print Spooler to continue the setup.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut.It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.
