HijackThis Log & Ad Aware Log - Websites Wont Open
Apr 2, 2005
My desktop wallpaper changed and won't change back and all my folders and things that were on my desktop are gone, but when I search for them it says that they are on my desktop and I can't right-click on anything. And if I make a new folder it doubles. And certain websites won't open for me (mail.com, lavasoft support boards, and urbanoutfitters.com). I've run Norton, Spybot, Ad-Aware,and Ad-Away.

I am using xp and have a laptop with xp. I use a linksys router for the laptop. I recently switched from DSL to Cable, since the switch there are a few web sites I cannot get to open up. Aafes.com, hotmail.com, support.microsoft.com.....and a few others. Most sites open fine but....I have checked my router, it's fine. I have bypassed it and gone straight from the modem still doesn't work. I have hooked someone elses laptop up to modem and guess what??? They opened them just fine. So I'm back to me. I'm so frustrated and confused. Please any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I have always had Norton but accidentally deleted a file so that it no longer worked. I downloaded EZ Armor which is the freebie from Road Runner (My new ISP). I haven't been able to move around very much since that time.
My PC shuts down all by itself from time to time and I can no longer connect to OE to get my email. The computer seems so slow all of a sudden. I primarily use Firefox 1.5. On occasion I use IE. All of this started after I deleted the remainder of the
I have a couple networked computers and on one I can't open a particular website but I can open it on the other
it's http://www.efax.com and for the life of me, it won't open on one of my PCs. I have tried 3 different browsers on the PC: Explorer / Firefox / Opera and none of them can open efax.com on the one PC......I am able to open other websites on that PC, however, when I get a page that occassionally doesn't open now, I am wondering if there is something amiss on the one PC......I still can not open http://www.efax.com
Recently I cannot install or uninstall any applications and have been unable to open certain websites. Alot of people seems to be posting these logs, so heres mine. Thx in advance.
some websites that i open either the pictures or the text is blanked by red for example when i click on google where it says google or suppose to say google its just a red rectangle .
I have begun experiencing problem with IE6 not displaying pages for any url or IP address entered in the address bar. This occurs when there is an Internet connection (dial up). The browser will display web pages from files on the computer. (Windows XP sr2)I have concluded that this is an IE related problem, since Netscape 7.2 works properly. When I open IE6 with an Internet connection, the title bar indicates that my default homepage is (will be) displayed. There is no url shown in the address bar and no information displayed in the status bar. The mouse hourglass icon is displayed for as long as the browser is left open.
Iam anable to open any MS websites either with IE7 or FireFox. Able to open other websites. I have tried adding "s"to the "http"protocol, but no luck. Then went to internet options and unticked the "tsl"option in Advanced tab, again no luck! Thus iam not able to manually download updates. The XP pro has SP2 and SP3 installed. All the drivers are in place. To add to my woes ,SAS PRO and MBAM are not getting updates too!To survive i have installed AVG 8 Anti-virus and it too is not getting updated! I have turned off the windows firewall and the Comodo Firewall Pro. The KIS 2009 disk is not installing as it is not being accessed by the dvd drive( please see my post in "General security"). When i run the diagnostic tool--i get the message that the PC is unable to access the FTP and the http and https are fine! Please ask for any further info' which i've failed to mention
I have Win XP Home with SP#3.My wife and i each use individual accts, user ids etc.For no reason I can understand suddenly when i click on one of my desktop shortcuts to open a website...e.g. Facebook, Yahoo etc..instead of automatically opening the specific site I get the box which asks which program i want to use to open the site.It is usally always Int.Ex. and at the bottom of the box there is a checkbox to indicate that when you open that same site in the future it should always be opened using IE, but when i go to open the site again i have to again each time indicate i want to use IE to open it. I also went to my wife's side of the pc and tried hers and her website shortcuts open properly like mine used to
Get "INTERNET EXPLORER CANNOT DISPLAY THE WEBPAGE" when I try to sign on to Explorer.RAN DIAGNOSTICS: Got this Message: "WINDOWS CANNOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET USING HTTP, HTTPS OR FTP. THIS IS PROBABLY CAUSED BY FIREWALL SETTINGS CHECK THE FIREWALL SETTINGS FOR THE HTTP PORT (80), HTTPS PORT (443), AND FTP PORT (21)"
The problem I've got is this. About a week ago I noticed that I was struggling with internet access. Wifi connects to a known router no problem but actually accessing sites can be a pain. I often have to refresh multiple times in the browser (happens in Firefox, Chrome and Opera) to get it to finally load the page. MSN also struggles to connect, as do the likes of Dropbox and anti-virus. Most web pages / resources do finally load up if I try enough times but it's very, very time-consuming
It is running really slow, have tried cleaning it,taking out things that are no longer used i have even tried system restore but to no avail it hasn`t worked!! A lot of times when online and am just browsing i get the message Internet Explorer cannot display this page even though i am connected!! very frustrating!! Also if i am on any site like ebay that displays pictures the pictures don`t come up i just get a small red cross that i have to right click and press show picture!
The first thing you need to do is download Ad-Aware SE Personal from HERE. Once you have downloaded and installed it you must update it and customize the scanning properties so that it scans more thorough.Once it’s installed click on the icon on your desktop and open it to the main screen. You will need to be online to update it, so if you are using a 56K connection you must first connect to your ISP. Now click were it says Check for updates now”, this will connect you to Lavasofts servers and update your definitions. This is the same as updating your antivirus definitions. Now that everything is up to date you need to customize your scanning properties to get the best protection. Now that you are at the main screen click the “Scan now” button, this will take you to a screen that says “Select a scan mode:”, select "Customize" and check "Scan within archives" then "Proceed". Then select "Select" and check all of your drives, "Scan volume for ADS" should be checked now. Now just select "Next".Ad-aware should now be scanning ALL of your drives for any know spyware/malware in its database. Once it has finished scanning it will give you list of everything that it found, REMOVE ALL THAT IT FINDS. Place your cursor on the list of items it finds and right click with your mouse and choose “select all” then click “remove selected items”. This will remove all spyware/malware from your pc. If Ad-aware prompts you to scan on your next reboot you should do so, this may happen because some spyware/malware is in use during the scan and could not be removed properly, Ad-aware will then schedule a boot time scan and remove these items on your next reboot.
The system has pop-ups and everything is running slow. I've run spybot, ad aware Nortons internet security, Found lots of spyware but still slow and when connected to internet my browser is redirected via pop-ups. Also I have had the computer crash and had to do use xp recovery console and chkdsk to recovery the operating system twice. There are five separate users who can log on as administer and change the settings but do I have to run the scans and edits in each user account or do the changes cover the whole of the accounts.
My computer is lagging up to the point where I'm getting ready to format, just wondering if someone could take a peak at my HJT log and let me know of any baddies in there. I run spybot and Adaware all of the time and I use Avg Antivirus.
I've tried everything. At least everything that I'm aware of as a Mac user.I just received my wife's PC back from being serviced at Yamada Denki (we live in Japan by the way), the keyboard and HDD were replaced so the OS was completely reinstalled at her request...and in Japanese. However we were told that we would still have to set it up, by that I assume they meant the Internet accessibility. Well, easier said than done for me coming from my plug n play MacBook. And I'd have my wife set it up but she knows less than I doHere's what I've tried:I used the Setup disc provided by our ISP(YahooBB here in Japan) 3 times and still both Explorer and Firefox wont work(i downloaded firefox on my mac and installed on the PC to see if it was just a problem with Explorer as to why we couldn't surf). However, we can receive and send mail through our YahooBB account which is setup on Outlook. So, definitely we are connected to the internet.
Traffic flow can be managed very well in Windows XP using the Quality of Service (QoS)Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP).However, programs must be designed to take advantage of this QoS API.The traffic from programs that are not QoS-aware are sent directly to a different API called TCI.These programs have to fight for bandwidth because unlike the QoS API, there is no bandwidth reservation. If you use a lot of QoS-aware programs and would like to change the percent of the bandwidth that is reserved for the program, read below.Make sure your logged on as Administrator.Do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges.
My girlfriend's computer is extremely slow, and I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions. She has a Dell Dimension 2350, (I believe) with a celeron processor. It's not that old (maybe 4-5 years old?).
I am always running her ad-aware and spybot. I just updated her Norton Anti Virus and ran that last night. At this point, I'm not thinking it's any spyware or viruses since they've all been deleted and cleaned out. She used to have spyware, and a lot. Does anyone think that even though it's been cleaned out, perhaps some kind of "permanent" damage has been done to her registry as a result of the spyware I deleted from her computer several months ago?
This problem happened 3-4 months ago and then went away until yesterday. It is very random and sometimes when it is just on but idle, and others when it is running a program I.E. Ad-aware. When it comes back on it usually goes tru the motions slower, and stops at a screen that say (amongst others) boot from CD twice afterwhich it says DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. After doing that it will run again untilit again randomly repeats. Sometimes in minutes, sometime hours, many times days
Starting about two Sundays ago (1/15), I've noticed that my laptop is painfully slow to start up (whereas it had not been before). I hadn't installed anything new (but I have installed things since). Everything goes fine, Windows starts, I get the welcome screen, that dissapears and my desktop show up but it takes at least 3 to 4 minutes before my icons and start bar show up. I just restarted now to test and it took 6 minutes. I ran Ad-Aware and scanned for virus' last Wednesday. Still crawling, but otherwise, once it starts, performance has not declined.
Spybot Search & Destroy found abetterinternet.aurora and wwwcoolsearch. I have attached my information from hijackthis and hope someone can help me get rid of this.
Thanks in advance for any help.

We are having some minor problems with a system at work. I was wondering if someone knowledgable about these logs would take a look at it, and see if anything stands out, or needs fixed.
I've been having problems with my CPU Usage being around or at 100% for the past few days. Tried spybot and that didn't help. Here is my HijackThis log.
