Hiding The Recycle Bin The Easy Way?
Feb 20, 2003An easy way to hide the Recycle Bin is just to create two .reg files.... open your notepad and copy and paste the listing below and save it as Hidebin.reg and click the .reg file to enter it into the registry. You have to refresh the desktop to see the changes.

To bring back the Recycle Bin, open notepad and copy and paste the listing below and save it as Showbin.reg and click the .reg file to enter it into the registry, once again refresh the desktop to see the changes.

Dec 9, 2006A friend of mine in a craft site created a document in WORKS. There were problems for others on that site opening it that have WORD and not WORKS.
Is it necassay to have WORKS to receive WORKS files??

Oct 11, 2009I'm having a problem with how my desktop is displaying in windows XP. Anytime I open a new window, then close it or minimize it to the task bar, the desktop disapears. I have to right click on the taskbar and click on the option to 'show desktop'. This is so friggin annoying and I have no clue how to keep the desk top displaying at all times. I'm sure its an easy fix, but, I am just too frazzled to figure it out at this time.

Oct 13, 2006My system is set up with three harddrives and multiple partitions on each drive.I know that if I just delete a file, it's stored in the Recycle Bin and not actually deleted, even if I empty the bin.However, since the Recycle Bin is on the C: drive, if I delete a file from another drive's partition, and then I use Eraser on the Recycle Bin to overwrite the files inside, are the files still on the partition and the empty space on it now has to also be Erased?

After much hacking around in the registry, I finally found the responsible key. Simply delete and restart. When you restart, the Recycle Bin is no longer on the desktop. When you delete stuff, it still prompts to send it to the Recycle Bin, as always. To fully delete something, just delete it from C:Recycled. or C:Recycler (name depends on file system). To view this folder, you have to have everything set to be seen, including hidden folders and procted OS files and all that.

Sep 9, 2005I am about to get rid of norton system works and would like to knowabout some alternatives.I have been using norton systemworks for years and also use AVG as asecondary virus checker.I have sourced some alternatives for most of the utilities i.e zone alarm, may try avast (instead of AVG), regclean.But what I will miss is the 'one button checkup' from norton that scans your system and detects any probs before fixing them. Apr 9, 2010When I right click on Recycle Bin, the empty recycle bin option does not appear. I probably messed this one up by playing with some context menu editor some time back. BTW, I have already un-installed that tool. Is there some solution to get that back. Don't want to go through the ordeal and the associated pain of doing a fresh install. There is a command called sfc which is supposed to correct things and which has to be run with the XP CD in. I can't recall the syntax.
