View 14 RepliesI am looking for now is a program where I can log into their
computer without having them logged off, so they can actually see what
I am doing (and I don’t have to repeat it all over the phone).
Does anyone have a suggestion what prog I can use for that? (or a link
to a side would be also great)
Have been searching for the web for hours but I guess my English just
doesn’t provide me with the right keywords to get any results I can
use.
On this site I found a similiar thread:
http://www.windowsforumz.com/-Remo [...] 86507.html
but that is for Shadowing w’ Win2003 Server and I have on both
computers WinXP.
Any suggestions would be just great!

AOL Broadband Checkup always hangs when I'm signed on. Computer Checkup works fine & will sign on automatically if needed. Not a major problem, I just want to get it fixed.
Windows XP (home), sp2 & all updates, Windows firewall. AOL 9, Platinum 2mb. Spybot S&D, AdAware SE Personal with latest updates, XSoftSpy with latest updates. Presario 2504EU Laptop.
I'm working on a Compaq desktop system and have run into something that has me stumped. The system is XP Home-SP2 with all patches, etc .It's my understanding that ActiveX controls such as Shockwave, Java, QuickTime, Ewido, etc show up in c:windowsdownloaded program files. (That's also where they appear on my HP laptop, and there's a status column that shows "installed") On the desktop system however, there are no activex controls in c:windowsdownloaded program files.....and no "status" column. Instead, there's a folder called "Conflict.1" and a bunch of *.dll and *.inf files. The desktop does have Shockwave, Ewido, Java, etc. installed though.
The system belongs to a friend and when I received the desktop, there was no AV or anti-malware software on it. It had a host of both; however, I have cleaned it.
Does this seem odd to anyone but me? Any ideas?
Thanks!
An update cause my Sony Vaio laptop to show only the wallpaper at startup. It never finished booting, but I could launch Firefox from task mgr. Well, after several days of poking, prodding, regedits, and reinstalls I still could not complete the SP2 update. Did an XP repair & still could not get SP2 laid on. Last night I finally did a complete XP reinstall. I'm now in the process of d-ling drivers.
I named the new install - "New," my previous was "Me". I also have docs&settings for: Admin, All Users, All Users.Windows, Default User, Default User.Windows, Me.Vaio. All Users seems to have all of my installed progs listed in the Start Menu>Progs, yet my new install shows only the Windows bare basics.
1 - How do I get those imported to my "New" profile? Simply drag/drop the Program Files folder??
2 - Somehow the desktop folder for the previous install (Me) is gone. Of course the new install has the clean desktop. need to know the way to recover the old one & port it to the new install?

I bought a used computer from a guy with WinXP Pro running on it.I just discovered that the new validation required for Updates will not accept my version of WinXP.I know I will probably have to buy something to set this right. What is the simplest way to get the WinXP Pro to validate? I'm trying not to have to reinstall the whole thing.

View 10 Replies View RelatedRecently I had a bout with Trojans (Vundo in particular) and spyware. The machine just kept rebooting. Installed XP on another partition in order to go out to the web and figure it out.. Finally I decided it would be easier to just reload. After a clean install and installing drivers for some hardware, Windows informed me it needed to reboot so the device would work correctly. After POST I got a non bootable disk error. I put the Windows DVD in to try a repair install, but wanted to see what would happen ifI let it go past press any key to boot from CD.... To my surprise I was able to get into Windows. I suspected that there might be some virus/spyware leftover in the MBR.First I uninstalled the other copy of XP, then tried repairing the MBR. Now it comes up with a missing operating system message when I reboot.I can get into windows as long as the boot from cd option is on in BIOS and I do not "select any key to boot from CD"
All of the SP2 install guides at windowsreinstall.com link provided in the sticky state that XP Home CD is required, what if I don't have one, I have a Dell-provided "reinstall" CD for XP. Can I still use the same procedures to upgrade to SP2

When the PC rebooted, I got the Welcome screen w/ the 3 account. All require a password. I cannot get past this screen since I do not know a password for the accounts. I have tried blank, as well as the names of the accounts.

Ok recentli have been having issues when starting up windows xp. Everytime i startup it asks for my boot disk. I have tried to change my boot sequence, having windows not even boot from my floppy disk, but still it looks for the boot disk. The only way i can start up my computer is by going through all 6 boot disks and after it will restart and start up windows.

Tried offline password and that did not work either. Only thing I can think of is that maybe someone else put a password on it without him knowing it. Anyone possibly ever hear of a virus or something thats done this before.
