Jul 16, 2005On the specs for my computer that is attached to the side, it says that my computer has 11 MB allocated as video memory. But, for some reason, when I last looked on my computer it said that I only have 4MB allocated as video memory. Why is this? And is there any way to bring it up, maybbe even past 11MB?

Use fine, then after its been on for awhile it goes black again. Weird. I have the newest drivers and all the windows updates loaded. It just keeps going out. Jan 19, 2006I have a white box Pentium 4 CPU with XP professional service pack 2 build 2600 installed. The motherboard is an intel D865GLC with 512 MB RAM installed in Dual channel mode with 1 256 MB stick of ram in slot zero of bank 1 and 1 256 MB stick of ram in slot zero of bank 2. This memory is dual channel compatible. I tried to add another 2 sticks of the same type ram but from a different manufacturer.
Here's the problem: I can use any 2 of the 4 sticks of ram together, both from the same manufacturer or 1 from 1 manufacturer and 1 from the other for a total of 512 MB. Everything works fine. I can place one stick in slot 0 of bank 1 and the other in slot 0 of bank 2 or I can place 1 in slot 1 bank 1 and 1 in slot 1 of bank 2 with no problems. I can even place a 3rd stick of the same type ram in any open slot and all's fine (except the machine complains that this is not an optimal memory setup). Memtest86 reports no errors with any of the above configurations

I just installed a second HD into my computer and attatched the IDE cable. Is this normal?: I heard a slight scraping noise as I inserted the HD into the bay.The problem is that the power cable is too short and couldn't plug it in.Is there a way to extend the power cord? It's only about <5cm too short.I have a eMachines tower/desktop case by the way.I was sweating alot since it was warm in the room. I had to wipe my sweat often. And I touched the power supply case every time I wiped my sweat, sometime one hand, other times both hands, for a few seconds, to ground myself. I handled the HDs by the edges. Is it possible that I have damaged the HD by static or sweat? How do I know if I did damage the HD? It's working right now.

Jul 24, 2008i have an Acer aspire 5630 laptop, running windows xp media edtion. It has a 110 GB hard drive which Acer partitioned in 3 parts. The first one im not concerned about its almost 5 GB and called PQ service (EISA configuration. the other 2 are just over 53 GB one has my xp the other was formatted to NTFS, I found I could delete the partition and then from command from extend the main partition typing diskpart, list volume, select the volume i want to extend by typing select volume 1 or whatever then type extend with the amount or if i leave it blank it should extend the partition to the full drive. but when i type extend I get the following message. Diskpart failed to extend the volume. please make sure the volume is valid for extending. And i desperately need the extra space.

Feb 5, 2007Ever since I installed Webroots SpySweeper, my computer has been running much slower than usual - even after I uninstalled the program and all its remanents from my registry. The worst part however, is media. Ever since then, any audio and video does not play properly on the computer - it just lags and plays very choppily.My computer has tested free of any spyware/adware/malware, as well as any viruses. Almost nothing is set to start up with my computer, and the registry is cleaned. As well, Opera is the only web browser I ever use, and I do not have my windows set to automatic update.

Jul 30, 2009This has been happening on and off while playing games and pretty well only then. I don't get any error messages or anything of the like, my computer just freezes and that's that. I've checked my video card for overheating by using the nVidia monitor program and it runs fairly cool, I guess i should double check what the numbers are under stress but I don't see any artifacts or other weird images on my screen that would suggest a dying card (i use a bfg 8800gts 640mb). My motherboard also runs pretty cool too so i would highly doubt it's a heating issue there either.just recently i had to replace the motherboard due to failure and i fear whatever is causing these crashes may have caused my previous motherboard failure and possibly this new one to fail as well.

Im not really sure what is making it reboot but it seems like im always playing a game when it decides to do it. After somone else suggesting it was the ram i decided to check my ram with memtest86+ and during the scan my computer rebooted itself pointing that it was prolly the ram. So now i am using my old ram while the other 2 gigs is bein sent back for return and the computer rebooted itself on my old memory so now im pretty sure its not the ram. If I am using Yahoo! Widget Engine, that figure jumps to anywhere between 67% and 80%. This is rather unsettling, because the computer has 1 GB of RAM. How can my computer, at rest, be using over 600 MB of RAM? Is there a way I can take that down?

Oct 31, 2007Recently I was playing a game, when my screen froze. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
Imported Video Footage Playing On Audio Line Not Video?
Sep 20, 2005I have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player.When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference
