Intermittently, mouse pointer disappears, but drops to quick launch toolbar and opens every program that invisible pointer sits on. Invisible pointer moves left to right as mouse is moved opening all programs it passes over. Programs are opened more than once. Alt/ctrl/del to open task manager stops error most times. Rundll32.exe has been running on the times it didn't stop. Rundll32.exe checked ok for errors & viruses etc.
I have been using my Wacom tablet mouse for quite sometime & beginning to feel agitated. I can be typing & then suddenly the cursor will move to another are that I've typed. Which breaks up my sentence & I have to always proof read & undo what has been typed. I'd sure appreciate some feedback on this. Could my computer be hacked as I'm also using wifi {not my router like I normally do} & I've noticed that lately I have alot of users connected to my connection? I'm confused?
I've lost usage of the language bar and, when I can make it appear, it behaves erratically. For example, the bar doesn't currently appear in the list of toolbars displayed when I right-click on the taskbar and choose Toolbars. If I go to Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages tab > Details. I do see both languages currently installed: "English (United States) - US" and "French (Canada) - United States-International" -- but the Language Bar button at the bottom is greyed out.Other times, I have gotten the Language Bar to reappear in the taskbar, but with added options that I can't turn off, even if I right-click and uncheckable "Show additional Language Bar icons".I just want to get my old single "EN" / "FR" icon. Help!
I started this thread many weeks ago and was being helped but had hardware problems and commitments and I have to start again.I have up to date XP2 in a clean system. The problem - unimportant but annoying, is that my screensaver, whichever I use, unpredictably resets to one minute no matter what delay time I set. When it does this the screensaver does not run. I admit to sloppy attention to detail - I can't remember when this started but it was probably more than a year ago. A quick fix would be nice but now I have a bit of time to experiment.
When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup. A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.
The family computer is playing up and to the best of my knowledge the computer in question just simply suddenly stopped working as it should. I am unable to get the 'default' welcome screen upon start up and am getting the logon box where you type in a username and passworld. I know how to get rid of this, user accounts>enable welcome screen - but it will not solve the problem. This is just the start of the problems. I get a whole host of errors which popup one after another.
I am being shown "script error","page error, you may need to change browser settings",and "behind firewall" when I try and send files and photos. I've tried everything I know to fix this, but I still see these errors and still cannot send photos while I'm online.
I got a new computer and I have been having problems with my mouse. I have a simple optical wired mouse. During random times, my mouse click freezes, although my mouse can move and I can use the key board at this time, I cannot click or focus anything. To fix the problem I can control alt delete and exit the Task Manager, this fixes the problem.
Under Tools, Internet Options, General, Home Page, there are entries listed that I don't want. MSN is my Home Page but there are some pages listed that I want to remove. I have tried just deleting them but they just come back. I do not have any viruses on my machine. There are just 2 entries that I want to delete.
a friend of mine called with a pc problem. he was given a computer, i believe a pentium 4, i haven't been over yet so i'm not sure exactly whats going on.evidently it was working fine but has been sitting for a while. he knows practically nothing about computers. the problem is all the junk that is on it. it has win xp, but he doesn't have any discs to reformat. i told him it would be best to wipe the harddrive clean and start over but how does he do that or clean up the existing mess. it appears hes got some spyware, bugs and junk because he says stuff keeps popping up, duplicating itself etc. he just had dsl installed through bell south and now he's kind of stuck so he called me
AVG Free wouldn't delete them (Idk why) and I don't know how to fix the problem. It's making things take a long time to open. It took about 10 minutes for windows to start. Help would be greatly appreciated. Everything's working normally now but I don't know what the viruses are going to do.
I noticed after having DSL installed we have been experiencing some freeze ups and finding viruses. We started off with AVG, then Ewido ani-malware, Microsoft Antispyware, Hijackthis, spybot.I ran Ewido last night, it found a virus and it still ran slow. Today it is running ok so far but I am not sure, it has moments of acting slow. This machine is a Dell Dimension 2200, lots of hdd space, ram is fine.

I have a trojan and I am using norton antivirus it has picked it up but can not quarantine or delete it what should I do? I tried system restore in 3 different times and none would work..
I have just gone through the process of removing viruses from my computer, and then my XP theme goes away. I use XP Home Edition, and I am stuck with the Classic Theme with the lame white bars everywhere. Where do I go to reclaim my XP Theme?
for some reason i was under the impression that my work computer had virus protection. well... nope. i had to reload the o/s (windows 2000 pro) after the computer crashed but fortunately i lost none of my data, mostly because i keep it on a thumb drive so i can work on it at home. i now have norton AV on it and got rid of more than 14 viruses or threats, and now i am wondering if anything else was left that wasn't detected. oh, and the computer is a dell optiplex gx150 workstation.
I have no idea what's going on, but my computer, a Dell Inspiron, has only 1 GB of Local Disk (C left on it. Now, for the past 8 months, i've been editing & burning DVD's and films using editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, etc, and i've never had a problem. I've always had at least 50 GBs (or so i believe) of free space at any given moment when messing around with that stuff. When editing today, I was alerted that my local disk C was running low, and once i agreed to do a 'clean-up' of some sort to remove temporary internet files & offlines files, etc, i got a problem. Suddenly, my system was unstable and I had 3 MB of free space.
although, I work in the it field, my specialty is not in adware/trojan or virus removal when the major vendors norton/mcafee refuse to delete the file. I've acquired and run hijack this and need some assistance in deciphering it as my system keeps freezing recently and it is really driving me a bit crazy since I don't have as much time as I would like to investigate each and every file that seems to be appearing through virus scans and startup utilities.
I clicked some virus and opened it like a idiot I need smoe help removing it. Everytime I CTRL+ALT+DELETE, the task manager comes up then its killed for some reason. The same happened for when yuou try and bring up the *forgot the name* thing to make everythiung smaller on the harddrive to get more room.I have looked at several things to try and get rid of this virus, but its not working.
I am not sure if it is worded correctly, but I have a big problem. My pc is flooded with viruses. It is getting to the point where I need to take action right away.I have been searching online and have actually found some great ideas. But I have a greater problem. I can not download any .exe files. I believe its my temp folder that is messing up. I keep getting messages telling me various things can not work because emp is corrupt. When I try to download stuff from the net I get messages telling me that the file could not be saved because of an unknown error. I believe its a virus causing it, but I'm not sure. I would really love if someone could help me. I am a novice so I don't know what information I should post about my system to receive help.
What is the best software to get rid of adware and/or viruses. I have done everything, I have norton and spy ware, but it seems all temp files are locked and I can not get rid of the. This happened going to a site to sell a motocycle and this si slowing my system down.
on my computer, it keeps saying that a security breach is detected on my computer and my internet is now saying that i do not have permission to open this file! the only thing that will open is Internet after about 5 minutes..
I noticed one day that my computer was acting nuts. Lots of pop up windows saying my computer was infected with a virus, and that annoying bomb/warning sign blinking light. I went out and bought a new anti-virus pacakge (ZoneAlarm) because apparently whatever I had was failing. And it had been awhile since I had taken care of this... It found several viruses and cleaned them, but as soon as those were cleaned, I got different pop-ups telling about a different virus. The next day I restart my computer and get the BLUE SCREEN (boooooooo!) and wasn't able to get anywhere beyond that. I tried everything that I knew how to do, and then I finally reinstalled Windows. I don't know if this was the smart thing to do, though, because I just ended up partioning my hard drive, so everything on my C: is still actually on my computer and accessible, although I guess I am actively running off of a different hardrive So these viruses are still on my computer,
I've been having tons of trouble trying to remove spyware and adware from my computer, I've tried multiple different programs but have been unable to clean them all out.
i use Wiindows XP and recently had some sort of infestation that sent my anti-virus into a pop-up craze. After i got that under control by running half a dozen different antivirus softwares i couldn't open any of the shortcuts on my desktop or in my computer, and i cant find any way to open anything!so i switched to another user, which is working fine, and came here. also, Spy Sweeper picked up a stray virus and i got rid of it, but im not sure if that one was what was causing all the problems. either way the problem is still there
using windows xp media edition. when I click on things on my screen my computor sometimes works ok but sometimes doulbe clicks or triple clicks and sometimes clicks up to five times by itself I don't understand why this happens. Is it possible I have some type of virus that is causing this multi-clicking of the mouse when I only click once. I did a full system scan with Norton and nothing is found.
My grandson downloaded something with viruses, tojan and a hacker. Spybot removes them but they come back. He has an acer laptop with xp. Acer told hime it is probably imbeded in his hardrive, they suggested a reformat but said hewould probably have to buy a new harddrive
Quote : TIANJIN, Feb. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Experts warn computer users to guard against computer viruses as Valentine's Day draws near. A virus, known as "Vbs_Valentin.A" to break out next Tuesday, will spread chiefly through e-mails or on-line chat systems, according to China National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center on Sunday. Other viruses like "Worm-blebla.B" and "VBS-ILoveyou" will also assault computers if users open e-mails or attachments disguised with Valentine blessings.
