Shortly after I open IE7, I suddenly get an error: DeBug Assertion, and something about Visual Basic C++. Then IE Explorer is frozen and I have to close and reopen it, but then the same thing happens. I tried to restore to a previous time, but it does not work, and then I ran Registry Mechanic and I am still getting the error.

I was wondering if I could schedule a task to disable the internet or block traffic using my norton.When I go to schedule a task it only allows me to open a program. To schedule something like what i'm talking about, I would probably have to create a program of some kind that combined all the actions into one thing. Maybe using notepad or whatever.I don't know anything about programing, so can I get some help? Any advice? Other alternatives? Am I being to careful?

Registry editing and task manager have been disabled by restrictive policies that are executed at startup. I worked my way using group policy editor (gpedit.msc) but the changes show no effect on these policies. They keep coming again and again no matter how many times i delete their registry keys. Their location is KCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent VersionPoliciessystem and the keys are "DisableRegistryTools" and "DisableTaskMgr". I tried every known malwarespywareadware remover found on the internet (HJT, ComboFix, SmitFraudFix, AVZ etc.,) but these policies wont go away gpedit.msc is now corrupt in my laptop because i messed with it and Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 doesnt run after installation. The shell menu item "Scan for Viruses" is grayed out for no apparent reason. Not even one AV software works properly in my 4yr old Dell
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Win XP SP2 laptop and any software that uses installshield will not install. I get different errors depending on the particular program I'm trying to install. One example is "1607: Unable to install installshield scripting runtime". Everything else on the computer seems to be running fine. I've searched the web extensively for answers to this problem and I'm down to either reinstalling the Installshield program or reinstalling Win XP. Does anyone have info on how to solve this problem? Or does anyone know where to find the installshield program so I can reinstall it? Reinstalling Windows obviously has it's drawbacks.

However everytime I do try it will begin installing and then installshield wizard will minimise itself and stay that way.I have tried everything i can think of like installing in safe mode, turning off anti virus and all that jazz. I can't remember what they are called, but to explain, you can see by going to www.greenhills.net on this site, there should be pictures with links to a car dealership, and various other things. The only thing I see on my computer at home is the picture of the company, and the few nderlined links at the bottom of the page and the google search. Nothing to the left or right of the picture. It doesn't matter if I'm using IE or Firefox.I've been through the tools and security all javascripting boxes are checked.

It used to be just fine, until I installed some pay-for-viewing add program. I have uninstalled it since then, but the slowness remains. And the processor is hogged, at the highest level, even though i killed many a startup processes.

So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.

Now whenever I try to start Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer the windows installer starts and the windows will not open until I have cancelled the installer several times. I scanned the registry with Registry Fix and fixed all problems. It still starts every time. Netscape has no like problem starting.

I turned it on today and when I open my Internet Explorer I get the message "Page cannot be displayed" My Netscape browser works fine. I called Comcast they ran all the diagnosis from their end and said something got corrupted in Internet Explorer. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Both generate the same error: "Internet (or Windows) Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The details show that ole32.dll is the guilty module. So far I've had no success in locating a solution. I am using Windows XP Home Edition. I should also note that the control panel won't function either since it is basically part of Windows Explorer.
