whenever I try to apply a change to my theme settings, the settings never save. I try to choose the Windows XP theme. When I apply it, it reverts back to the Modified Theme setting.
View 1 Replieswell my dads new high tech workstation that he just updated and prepared for professional work will not save themes as classic or keep his color settings.he sais at work when the optimized the pc that it worked great and as soon as he braught it home this started happening.does anyone know what could be the cause of this? basically everytime he sets the winows to "classic view" as soon as he restarts its back to normal.my dad is one of those ocd ppl so hes all getting freaked out over it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI run a Dell XPS M140. I'm ready to pull my hair out. Three days ago I was infected with the "AV Security Suites" virus. I immediately shut down my computer, restarted in Safe Mode With Networking, and ran every single thing I had. I ran Avast, Spybot, Ad-aware, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Registry Mechanic, Advanced System Care, and Glary Utilities. I thought I got it. I restarted my computer in normal mode and all seemed well until I noticed I cannot change my desktop theme or wallpaper. When I change the theme to "Windows Classic", it works, but when I restart my computer it's right back to the XP theme (green start button/blue taskbars)

I have the events setup as the subfolders names. I do not like to use Folder Task to set my view settings, and instead of changing the view settings one by one in each of the subfolder, is there a fast way so that I can apply the same folder settings to all my subfolders in "My Pictures/Digital Camera" without changing other folder's view settings?

I've tried applying the theme with StyleXP, but it wasn't compatible with my build of XP. I've also tried using TuneUp Utilities Styler, but that didn't help either. I've checked Taskbar->Properties->Start Menu, and it was set to "Windows XP", not classic

I have XPSP3 running on my computer and after cancelling a download of themes half way through(I know I shouldn't do that) I haven't been able to change my colours or theme. I have tried many methods from "Doug", a restore, but not yet a repair because I don't have an SP3 disk. I have copied the message I get here, any help would be appreciated thanks.

I've used programs like Style XP or Theme XP but non of them have the theme I want. I want windows to look the way it does when you chose Start Shut down. Basically a greyscale theme is what I'm looking for. I realize that sounds wierd but maybe someone out there already has it and they wouldn't mind pointing me to where it can be found.

i can change visual style to windows classic but when press apply and ok nothing changes.
I am about to reformat the HD on my laptop...is there a way to save my network settings so that once it's reformatted I can just copy those settings back into XP? I have a wireless network, and I don't care to go through the whole process again of setting up my network and file sharing..

After cleaning the registry and defragmenting it, I restarted the computer and it would not let me log in. It says loading your personal settings quickly followed by saving your settings and then logging off. It would go back to the welcome screen and that's it. It is the same in Safe Mode.

Clicking the X on the left pane or click off the Floders button on the tool bar changes the folders view to the Windows XP style folder view. Then going to Tools>Folders Options and cklicing the View tab, then clicking on the button, Apply to All Folders does not apply this change to all folders and resets the folder back to what it was before I made the change.

I have enclosed an excerpt of a screen shot of my "save as" window to display how the default drive being automatically selected is the "D" drive rather than the "C" drive that I use primarily. To be honest, I don't know whether this can be corrected by a software change, or whether it's the way the two hard drives are connected in my computer.
