Apply An Index.theme - Downloaded From Www.everaldo.com
Nov 25, 2009
I have downloaded an icon theme from www.everaldo.com The icons look great but I have no idea how to apply them. I downloaded it as a .tar.gz and then I extracted it to a folder containing folders with different sized icon, a file called ".dolphinview" and an "index.theme" file. I tried simply opening the index.theme file from "themes" in display properties but it cannot read it. When I open it in OOO and compare it to a theme it looks very different, a theme starts with [Theme] whereas this begins with [Icon Theme]. I think I am supposed to attach the index.theme file to my theme

whenever I try to apply a change to my theme settings, the settings never save. I try to choose the Windows XP theme. When I apply it, it reverts back to the Modified Theme setting.
I want to use a windows xp theme that I downloaded from the internet with out haveing to use a program like "window blinds". So I downloaded this compressed file (a zip) that has a bunch of files in it. How do I apply these files to change windows look and feel? I would like to use the windows theme tap located under the desktop propertys.
Was upgraded to Office 2003 but has plain gray borders; I had it at last firm and overall look was blue which I believe was the XP theme. Under Display Properties > Color scheme, Windows XP is not a choice. I'm thinking I'm missing the XP Theme (Themes as a service is running) but can't seem to find the download on www.microsoft.com
What exactly are index DAT files? Are they necessary or critical to operation? I occassionally use EasyCleaner to remove junk, but index DAT files are deleted.
I've found a way to get a theme out of XP-Windows Server 2003 without using the theme service. It's basically a variation of the silver theme. The steps are assuming you don't have the theme service turned on.
1.Open the Run command and type in services.msc
2.Find Themes, double click it and start the service
FIREFOX 3.6.3,WINDOWSXP SP3,Why is it i can see it if i typehttp://localhost/index.html but i cant see it if i load it from http://www.ronuk.org ??windows on C://ronuk.org on E://i alway used to see it on C://???
Here is an easier way to get to index.dat file as address in another tweak submitted here.1.click on Internet Explorer 2.go to to your root dir 3.open Documents and Settings folder 4.open your username folder 5.open UserData 6.close Internet Explorer if you have it open rename index.dat to index.old logoff and log back on open up Internet explorer and go to a web page or site that always seemed to load slowly. It should load a lot more quickly now. NOTE.Always rename or backup .dat or other system files before deleting.
I tried to reformat my hard drive. When it got to a certain point where it was checking the disk it got to 20% then hung or stopped. Did this three times. I have tried to run CHKDSK and have been unsuccessful. I get messages during the operation that say "file record segment is unreadable.
Once phase 1 is finished, I get messages that "correcting error in index" and replacing orphan files (or sometthing to tthat effect). Not long after that a message appears that says "an error has occured" and the computer continues to boot. Please note that my computer tries to run through CHKDSK everytime I boot. I want to reformat but it seems impossible.
I use Windows Explorer to access the subject folder to make sure Internet Explorer has deleted the cache and usually I could see one file in the Content. IE5 folder named index.dat. I've been doing this for years without any problems. A couple of weeks ago I went to do this and I was unable to see the folder structure below the Temporary Internet Files folder nor the index.dat file. But if I log on as another user I can see the Content.IE5 folder, file index.dat, and the randomly named subfolders beneath folder Content.IE5. I checked the Windows Explorer properties to see if my view was being restricted but the settings appear to be the same for both user IDs.
I'm trying to delete the index.dat file off my XP name but when i go into safe mode it wont let be open my name.Any idea what the problem may be cause i cant open any of the names except my brothers xp name for some odd reason
I have quite a few albums of photos that I've taken from vacations/parties/weddings. I have them all in the "My Pictures/Digital Camera" folder. I have the events setup as the subfolders names. I do not like to use Folder Task to set my view settings, and instead of changing the view settings one by one in each of the subfolder, is there a fast way so that I can apply the same folder settings to all my subfolders in "My Pictures/Digital Camera" without changing other folder's view settings?
I wouild like to know where this resides in either 'Windows' or the registry. When I open 'Advanced' the 'Apply' button is greyed out, so I would like to repair it.
After installing Windows XP and all service packs and applications I am likely to use on it, I find it useful to disable services I am not likely to use on it to a bare minimum using MSCONFIG to stop additional CPU/MEM usage going on in the background. Here is a list of those services that I use, based on the fact that I have a cable broadband connection that is always on, and a Soundblaster Live Value Soundcard Go into Start Menu, Open RUN command, type MSCONFIG Goto SERVICES tab, select DISABLE ALL, APPLY, and check the following services to start with Windows and hit APPLY afterwards DHCP Client - AUTOMATIC Plug and Play - AUTOMATIC Remote Procedure Call (RPC) - AUTOMATIC Windows Audio - AUTOMATIC
There are also a few other services I use but not all the time, these are listed below and I would either put them on MANUAL if I use them sometimes or DISABLE them completely if I didn't use them at all Goto START MENU, PROGRAMS, ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS, SERVICES, and modify the following by right clicking...
I can't enable virtual scrolling on my laptop Touchpad. The options are not "grayed" out in the control panel device settings, but when I try to click on the boxes, no check appears. The "Apply" button becomes active, too. I need to disable before virtual scrolling can be enabled
Index.dat files are files impossible to delete under windows, and it stores all the information of your surfing history, you can be followed through these dangerous files. and even if you delete your cookies and your history, these index.dat files remain there and become bigger and bigger, their original size is 16kb but they can reach up until 600kb. to preserve your privacy I found a way to delete them.. it's impossible to do in windows thus you have to reboot your computer then press F8 or F5 for advanced boot options; then choose "safe mode with command prompt; log in as administrator and then from there you can delete them freely without windows preventing it.
I was very curious when Vista came out. I searched google for Vista theme for XP. When I found it I install it, but installed few XP to Vista programs and my theme is totally bad. Now I need your help how to get previous theme. I tried to use uninstall options in XP to Vista programs but that didn't work.
I need seven theme with its own glass borders(not any third party apps) in window. Also glass border for properties menu(which i found in none theme). My OS XP SP2 Professional no need separate third party apps i need fully integrated theme.
I just spent a number of hours getting rid of Trojan.desktophijack.B and Trojan.popuper, and now i cant get my windows xp theme off of "windows classic." i can select the theme but when i go to "windows and buttons" all that is available is "windows classic style." how do i fix this? i find it ironic that i can manually clean a registry but changing themes is beyond me.
I have windows xp sp2 and I am using windows classic style i tried to right click desktop go to properties and click on appearance (so i could change back to windows xp style) but in the drop down menu all i see is one option which is the classic theme
Here's a screenshot. You can see how some aspects of the OS are changed (because of the theme), but the taskbar looks like it's in classic mode

I've tried applying the theme with StyleXP, but it wasn't compatible with my build of XP. I've also tried using TuneUp Utilities Styler, but that didn't help either. I've checked Taskbar->Properties->Start Menu, and it was set to "Windows XP", not classic
cant get the xp theme back on my system after removing a virus and using the restore feature on my xp cd. I did notice that my theme changed to the windows classic style while dealing with the virus. The virus changed my theme to classic and added a webpage as my background picture so I think that was the cause. What should I do to fix this problem of not being able to change my theme to xp.
Ps. The theme is available but when I choose it all it does is it changes my background picture and colors but my buttons and windows stay classic.
I have just gone through the process of removing viruses from my computer, and then my XP theme goes away. I use XP Home Edition, and I am stuck with the Classic Theme with the lame white bars everywhere. Where do I go to reclaim my XP Theme?
I originally lost my windows "luna" themes and it reverted back to classic themes only at this point it would not let me change the theme without giving me a much dreaded error message for even highlighting the new theme rightclickdesktop -> properties -> appearance I can no longer change the selected theme as the box and drop down is "greyed out" and locked for some reason However, i can change the color and font and effects and advanced. Unfortunately, without an external program like Tuneup Utilities 2009 i can not change my theme back to XP's Luna theme from classic any other way of my knowledge. So i have to run that program every time i restart if i want my theme back every time i get on my pc.
After an attempt to install a new dvd player, my windows XP Luna theme (the one for windows xp verses windows classic) is gone! I try to click on the file but when you say ok, an alert window pops up and says that the "theme service is not loaded" and to "turn it on in the Computer Management Administrative Tool in the Control Panel." How on earth do you do this? I cannot figure it out.
I have just rebooted my PC and it only has the Windows Classic theme. I think this might be because i have disabled something thru services.msc.Does anyone know which service i need to change to Automatic or Manual?
