Could Not Start The Theme Service On Local Computer

Ive followed many forums and none of them have my problem. ive fixed so much, except the last major one.. its just one more thing till i have the theme back. It was along! time ago.. my theme stuffed up after installing StyleXP. i didnt think much of it and i should of system restored it except i didnt. if i do this. Start > Run > services.msc > then scroll down to themes. its on "Automatic" but the service isnt running, its stopped, if i try to start the service it comes up with this error: "Could not start the Theme service on Local Computer. Error 126: The Specified Module Could not be Found."

I'm sure this is an old issue for some but it's new to me because I downloaded Service Pact 2 this weekend. I'm now noticing that sometimes when my computer comes out of stand by the local area connection symbol is disabled and I can't get it to enable. I've even gone into My Computer/ Network Connections/ Local Area Connection Properties window and tried to enable it but that won't work. I also tried to troubleshoot it, but that hung up, not even ctrl alt delete would shut it down so I pulled the plug. Can anyone tell me what's going on? I don't think it's a coincidence that it started after I got SP 2. I'm tempted to try and unistall it, but I've already seen some posts on the forum about possible negative consequences.

I've found a way to get a theme out of XP-Windows Server 2003 without using the theme service. It's basically a variation of the silver theme. The steps are assuming you don't have the theme service turned on.
1.Open the Run command and type in services.msc
2.Find Themes, double click it and start the service

My computer is Toshiba Satellite A215, with Windows XP home edition. I had Service Pack 2, but about a week ago, I updated to Service Pack 3. After installing Service Pack 3, the whole computer slowed down and started acting weird. The speaker started to make noise, it started to show error messages often, the internet does not work smoothly, spyware & virus search take 10 hour or more and never finish (it used to take only a few hours), etc.
So, I wanted to put the Service Pack 2 back to my computer. I tried uninstalling SP 3. But it failed uninstalling and I got a message says something like "couldn't uninstall SP3". I thought it might let me uninstall if I restart the computer and I tried to restart, and it never start again. This blue screen with a message, something like "autochk program not found-autochk skipped" comes up and then it goes back to the Windows LOGO screen and keeps doing the same thing. I read about some similar problems, and tried a few things, like starting with safe mode or last setting that worked, etc, but they do not seem to work....

One out every five boots, my system starts up with what looks like a classic theme (win98) instead of xp. Sometimes I can switch the theme back to XP, sometimes I have tpo reboot several times to get that fix to work, and sometimes it boots up ok. I am running a pretty basic HP nx6110 laptop with windows XP pro, windows has been reloaded and updated with the latest patches, but this problem still persists.

ok plz help me. First i had a problem with uxtheme.dll and i fixed it but now themes work cept they dont apply to the taskbar or start menu but they do for everything else and iv tryed to fix uxtheme.dll a few more time like sue the repare i have and still nuthin y wont they affect it. The taskbar/ start menue propertes also are not on clasic.

Was upgraded to Office 2003 but has plain gray borders; I had it at last firm and overall look was blue which I believe was the XP theme. Under Display Properties > Color scheme, Windows XP is not a choice. I'm thinking I'm missing the XP Theme (Themes as a service is running) but can't seem to find the download on www.microsoft.com

i can't reformatt my compputer because local disk ( C ) don't have enough
space, how do i ease local disk ( D )??? i have 7.82mb on local disk ( C )
and 74.5gm on local disk ( D ).

I have downloaded an icon theme from www.everaldo.com The icons look great but I have no idea how to apply them. I downloaded it as a .tar.gz and then I extracted it to a folder containing folders with different sized icon, a file called ".dolphinview" and an "index.theme" file. I tried simply opening the index.theme file from "themes" in display properties but it cannot read it. When I open it in OOO and compare it to a theme it looks very different, a theme starts with [Theme] whereas this begins with [Icon Theme]. I think I am supposed to attach the index.theme file to my theme but I have no idea how.

I am having a minor graphical issue with Windows XP.Windows was running as ever up until about a month ago, it starts up a logs into accounts fine, however it fails at displaying the user's theme.I usually have the Windows Classic theme, however when I start a computer up there is a high chance (not always) that it will ignore my theme options and set it'self to default. It remembers the button size and colouring options, however it will not display the window classic theme. The taskbar returnes to it's defauly blue.If I log off of the current user and log back into it, the theme displays correctly. Just at start up it will sometimes display the default theme until logged back into.

I came home today and found my computer had turned from the sleek silver windows xp theme into the windows classic version. I also have no sound and in the control panel it isn't picking up any audio devices. I cant change the theme back to windows xp in properties either it says im using Windows XP (modified). PLEASE HELP ME! All i know is that the power went out at some point today (about 7 hours ago)

I was trying to beat some guys FSB (his was 600)I thought nothing could go wrong =]so i set the FSB to 600 PC would'nt boot.so Asus cleared CMOS for me i took the FSB down to 550 Booted.just Windows Came up with a System.dll Could Not Be found.Took the FSB down to 533 Re-Installed Windows XP (slipstreamed SP3) and now... i cant have the Default windows XP theme Installed Asus BIOS Update then Updated BIOS to 0802.Re-Installed windows XP again and still no Windows XP Theme.Its like my PC Is locked onto the Windows Classic Theme

I'm using Remote Desktop Connection from a Windows XP SP2 machine to control a Windows 2000 Terminal machine. How can I share my local files in Windows XP SP2 machine so they can be copied or used for installation in the Windows 2000 Terminal machine?I have tried by checking the Disk drives option in the Local Resources page of the Remote Desktop Connection and then connect but I cannot see my local drives in the Windows 2000 Terminal machine using Windows Explorer.

My computer (Windows XP, all patches but SP3) has started crashing and now it is getting more and more frequent. No BSOD. Just "click" and lights out. Nothing predictable about it, either. I am getting hordes of DCOM errors in event viewer. Event ID 10010, with description "The server {8BC3F05E-D65B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.While chasing this down in an amateur fashion, I found out that the WMI service (Windows Management Instrumentation) which is set to start automatically is not starting. The problem is that each time I turn the pc on, if I want to access the internet, I must right click on My Computer, then Manage and then Service and Applications and then Double Click DHCP Client. It is set for Autostart but something is wrong because I have to manually start it up. I did a quick check on other items that had no status and they seem to be in this file: 'System32svchost.exe -k netscvs'. The tech guy from my ISP told me that it could be a problem with my XP disc? I can't see how. When my friend installed this hardware he also installed an extra hard drive, around 6 gig for things I might want on a backup incase something happens to my main hard drive. He formatted both hard drives and put Windows 98 on the main drive, not aware that you could do a clean install with XP.Now when my computer starts up I have to choose either Windows XP Home or Windows if I choose Windows nothing happens. Just a blinking cursor. My main concern right now is that I have to manuallly start up the DHCP Client if I want to go online.I went into the BIOS looking for answers.

I installed 'Virtual CD 5.0.6' on my desktop I installed 10 virtual drives (labelled drive G to P inclusive) I have an external hard drive (labelled 'Local Disk: L) which was turned off when i installed Virtual CD.When i turned on the external HD it did not show in My Computer (presumably because i had allocated drive L as a virtual drive I have uninstalled Virtual CD (and all 10 virtual drives) but still do not get my External HD icon showing in 'My Computer'When i go into device manager the Maxtor External HD is showing. And when i go to the 'Unplug Eject Hardware' icon on my tool bar the HD shows as a USB Mass Storage Device (but without a letter)

I'm running XP SP2 and I can't launch the Terminal Services service.Anytime I start it, it immediately stops with a message "The terminal services service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance logs and alerts services."

a virus entered my pc and blocked my firewallics service i tried everything i found online from starting my firewall service in services.smc to using the netsh commands and rundll32 setupapi,InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir%infetrass.inf command but it did not change anything. i fully scanned 3 times each with avira,spybot,malawarebyte and all viruses were deleted but i still have this problem.

windows 2000 pro..I was using killbox and accidently deleted service.exe and a grey box came up and said something to the effect of NT AUTHORITY SHUTTING DOWN THIS COMPUTER.I am desperate, it is not even my computer. Turn on the computer and it will go as far as saying windows 2000 in loading but doesn't.I have the disk can I do like a repair and get the file back? I tried putting in the disk and then starting the computer and it takes me to the setup or repair but I don't know what I should do, havent done a repair before, Have I got any options Please someone help, I am embarrassed and might get into some trouble for this accident. I have installed (successfully, I thought) Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, but apparently not. My computer (Dell laptop) was first incredibly slow, then would not launch IE, and now will not even boot up. It never gets past the blue "Welcome" screen.

ok in my opinion service pack 2 released by microsoft corp (c) is a piece of s**t. It consumes resources and might be impairing my download speeds. It adds a nice security feature that seems quite useless since my router has a built in firewall. Sp1 is what i would use. Im thinking of switching back but i dont know if i should. Any other opinions?i know the difference in sp1 and sp1a is that microsoft VM is not included in sp1a but what do i really need it for? right now im doing some programming in java. do i still need microsoft vm?
