I came home today and found my computer had turned from the sleek silver windows xp theme into the windows classic version. I also have no sound and in the control panel it isn't picking up any audio devices. I cant change the theme back to windows xp in properties either it says im using Windows XP (modified). PLEASE HELP ME! All i know is that the power went out at some point today (about 7 hours ago)

Can anyone tell me where I might be able to download the XP theme that looks "silver"? You know, but default, XP's theme is "blue" the start menu's color is "blue", and the taskbar is blue?
For over a month now, my Window Update program has been firing off multiple times per day telling me there are updates to install. These updates are always SilverLight and Redemption. I run the install, it says everything was installed, but an hour of so later, it tells me there is another install, that just so happens to be the same two files. Here is another clue: If the install runs while I am shutting the computer down, it never ends installing; I have to manually reboot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded an icon theme from www.everaldo.com The icons look great but I have no idea how to apply them. I downloaded it as a .tar.gz and then I extracted it to a folder containing folders with different sized icon, a file called ".dolphinview" and an "index.theme" file. I tried simply opening the index.theme file from "themes" in display properties but it cannot read it. When I open it in OOO and compare it to a theme it looks very different, a theme starts with [Theme] whereas this begins with [Icon Theme]. I think I am supposed to attach the index.theme file to my theme but I have no idea how.

Not OS specific, just some completely viscious way so I never-ever see that pop-up, pop-over, pop-under again. I can go to Firefox or Chrome, but still, sometimes I've got to use IE8 and I dislike Silverlight in the strongest terms. TIA

View 6 Replies View RelatedIve followed many forums and none of them have my problem. ive fixed so much, except the last major one.. its just one more thing till i have the theme back. It was along! time ago.. my theme stuffed up after installing StyleXP. i didnt think much of it and i should of system restored it except i didnt. if i do this. Start > Run > services.msc > then scroll down to themes. its on "Automatic" but the service isnt running, its stopped, if i try to start the service it comes up with this error: "Could not start the Theme service on Local Computer. Error 126: The Specified Module Could not be Found."
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am having a minor graphical issue with Windows XP.Windows was running as ever up until about a month ago, it starts up a logs into accounts fine, however it fails at displaying the user's theme.I usually have the Windows Classic theme, however when I start a computer up there is a high chance (not always) that it will ignore my theme options and set it'self to default. It remembers the button size and colouring options, however it will not display the window classic theme. The taskbar returnes to it's defauly blue.If I log off of the current user and log back into it, the theme displays correctly. Just at start up it will sometimes display the default theme until logged back into.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI was trying to beat some guys FSB (his was 600)I thought nothing could go wrong =]so i set the FSB to 600 PC would'nt boot.so Asus cleared CMOS for me i took the FSB down to 550 Booted.just Windows Came up with a System.dll Could Not Be found.Took the FSB down to 533 Re-Installed Windows XP (slipstreamed SP3) and now... i cant have the Default windows XP theme Installed Asus BIOS Update then Updated BIOS to 0802.Re-Installed windows XP again and still no Windows XP Theme.Its like my PC Is locked onto the Windows Classic Theme
View 7 Replies View RelatedOne day I turned on my computer, only to find the blue screen of death. It said something about something needed to boot up not being found. I started looking for my XP reinstallation CD, and managed to find it (the first time I've ever found anything when I really needed it). However, as I was following the instructions, I kept getting messages popping up saying that files couldn't be installed (there were at least 40 of them). I had no choice but to press the "continue" button, but I figured that it couldn't be too important.
Everything seemed to be going fine, but then I realized that things didn't seem to work the same. I lost the newest edition of WMP, but that was fine with me. However, I also lost SP2, and I can't seem to get it back. In fact, NONE of my automatic updates are downloading. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened or how to rectify the situation?
The Date/Time stops when computer is turned off. I have to reset each time I use computer. How would I correct this?

For example, all the text I've typed in to label my photos is now all blue, it was black when I originally typed it. All the text I typed in under my document files had turned to blue as well. Not all the text on the computer has turned to blue, just mostly in documents and photos. I have no idea how this happened. Does anybody know how I can change it back to the original color, black. I really have tried everything I can think of and so far nothing works.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've found a way to get a theme out of XP-Windows Server 2003 without using the theme service. It's basically a variation of the silver theme. The steps are assuming you don't have the theme service turned on.
1.Open the Run command and type in services.msc
2.Find Themes, double click it and start the service
I was very curious when Vista came out. I searched google for Vista theme for XP.
When I found it I install it, but installed few XP to Vista programs and my theme is totally bad. Now I need your help how to get previous theme. I tried to use uninstall options in XP to Vista programs but that didn't work.

I just spent a number of hours getting rid of Trojan.desktophijack.B and Trojan.popuper, and now i cant get my windows xp theme off of "windows classic." i can select the theme but when i go to "windows and buttons" all that is available is "windows classic style." how do i fix this? i find it ironic that i can manually clean a registry but changing themes is beyond me.

I've tried applying the theme with StyleXP, but it wasn't compatible with my build of XP. I've also tried using TuneUp Utilities Styler, but that didn't help either. I've checked Taskbar->Properties->Start Menu, and it was set to "Windows XP", not classic
cant get the xp theme back on my system after removing a virus and using the restore feature on my xp cd. I did notice that my theme changed to the windows classic style while dealing with the virus. The virus changed my theme to classic and added a webpage as my background picture so I think that was the cause. What should I do to fix this problem of not being able to change my theme to xp.
Ps. The theme is available but when I choose it all it does is it changes my background picture and colors but my buttons and windows stay classic.

at this point it would not let me change the theme without giving me a much dreaded error message for even highlighting the new theme rightclickdesktop -> properties -> appearance I can no longer change the selected theme as the box and drop down is "greyed out" and locked for some reason However, i can change the color and font and effects and advanced. Unfortunately, without an external program like Tuneup Utilities 2009 i can not change my theme back to XP's Luna theme from classic any other way of my knowledge. So i have to run that program every time i restart if i want my theme back every time i get on my pc.
