I have 4 usb ports, computer not communicating anything plugged into them BUT the green light on my memory card reader is on.It was all working before a recent thunder and lightning storm.How can I reset them to communicate.
View 6 RepliesI have Windows XP Professional with SP2. I have 1 GB of RAM and a Pentium 4 running at 2.81 GHz. Things were working AOK until I ran several anti-virus programs being Registry Mechanic, SpyBot, Ad-Aware SE, PestPatrol, & a trial version of Webroot Spy Sweeper. I seemed to start having printing problems (Epson Stylus Photo RX600) after running those. Documents start to print, but only print the first line or two of the document and in color and black and sometimes "garbage" and then it scrolls through and starts on another sheet of paper and so on and so forth. It doesn't stop, so I access my printer monitor and tell it to cancel all documents. Well, it takes forever to do that and so I shut off the printer and then everything seemed to stop printing. The next time I try to print something, I get the same problem. I even downloaded updated Epson printer software from the Epson site and installed it after deleting my old Epson printer software
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new emachnies T6528 computer hooked up to a "Balance digital technology" 17" LCD monitor.If I go to start, shutdown, and then restart, the computer will restart fine again and again. However, if I go to start, shutdown, and "turn off" and shut the computer completely down, then hit the computer power button to start the computer a few hours later or the next day, the monitor says there is no signal. I tried turning the monitor power button on and off. I also tried moving my mouse. The computer does not seem to start or do anything and the only way to turn it off is to cut the power by unpluging it or turning off the switch at the surge protector. Just pushing the computer power button will not turn off the computer when this happens.I checked the cable connections and they are good. For some reason, after cutting the power and turning on the computer again a second time, it works. I have been through the scenaro several times and it works the same way each time.

View 10 Replies View Relatedi got nothing but a blue screen when i turned it on and it would shut itself down within 5 minutes, even when plugged in. I figured it was due to a virus, so i wiped the drive and reinstalled windows xp. everything seems to work ok, except for the fact that now neither my internal wireless nor my SD slot seem to work at all. Its like my laptop is rejecting them and it didnt start happening until i reinstalled XP.

the KRC Anti-Spyware tutorial, I have ewido, spybot (tea timer running), Ad-Aware, etc. and cleaned everythign up, and my system is finally stable again. I even got Norton System works and that helped a lot too. I've been to Windows update and am completely up to date with installs.2 problems still: I still have no audio, and 5 of my USB ports are not working
I'm pretty decent with software but this one has completely bemused me. I did a system restore to my computer and all of my usb ports are not responding to anything, at first I thought it was the stuff I already used i.e. mouse and keyboard, but nothing works within the usbs. Tht meant that i couldn't log back on after my system restore because I couldn't type my password in. Then, for some stupid reason I went to change the voltage setting which is random and stupid, and now the computer won't even turn on. Please help as I don't want to have to fork out for a new computer.

View 7 Replies View Related decided to fix up one of my old computers...I am running an Asus A8n32-SLI deluxe and just my luck they have problems with sp3 install causing the reboot loop. Over the last few hours I have found out the following information:
The loop happens when I have my usb mouse plugged in, doesn't matter which spot and no other usb device causes. Have tried multiple types/brands of mice they all cause the loop. My flash drive also causes the loop but my keyboard does not.
When I reset the CMOS the loop did not occur until I sync'd my computers time, SP3 only
i want to instal a sound card (USB) and when i plug it in XP installs drivers on its own i want to use the CD drivers. there was an option "have disk" cant find it

I'd be playing and my mouse would just completely stop working, anywhere from 1-10 or so seconds. I tried using a different mouse, a mx500 and I still get the same problem. I've tried different usb ports, different mouses, and anything I could think of. These malfuntioning occurences happen quite often, maybe 2-3 times every five minutes, and my mouse completely turns off for whatever amount of time. My computer is about 3 years old, but I keep it running like the day I bought it. I plan on formatting really soon, within the next few days and that might solve the problem. Please let me know of any reason this problem is occuring, and what I can do to fix it

Power is getting through because i can charge my mp3 player and the P.C. speakers are powered vias USB. Device manager tells me the USB ports are working correctly. As soon as i plug a mouse in i get an error saying the device may not be installed properly. View 12 Replies View RelatedI was working this morning and I tried to put a flash drive in my usb port (one that I've used forever) and I got the following messages:"Administrator has restricted this computer to access usb/1394 mass storage devices"and "G:/ is not accessable Acess is denied" This is especially troubling for me since I've got to finish working on my syllabi and lessons for school and can't use my flash drive, plus I can't use my ipod, which is really irritating. I thought I was the administrator. I certainly haven't disabled anything at least not on purpose.

I first noticed it when I was trying to get info off one of my thumb drives. View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently ought an E-machines computer running XP MCE w/SP2. It has an AMD 3400 processor and 200GB HD and 1MB RAM. I had transitioned all of my files and applications from a Windows 98 machine using Aloha Bob's PC Relocater. Everything seemed to work fine, however, my USB ports will not recognize anything except my printer (no external flash drives or my digital camera - software is loaded onto the computer). I had contacted E-machines tech services and they asked me the usual stuff, like disabling the ports and restarting the machine, check the BIOS to ensure they are enabled, etc. Now they are suggesting I run a ''Non-Destructive'' System Retore. Naturally I will back up my files and apps on DVD, but my concern is will I be able to reload the apps to which I do not have disks for? Is there something elese I should do prior to running the System Restore (in SAFE mode??). Also do you think this will work and restore my USB ports?

She is anxious to retain her photos. As she can't put any software on the system to check for viruses etc, the only thing I can suggest she does is to re-install XP. If she does not reformat the disk will her user data still be accessible?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was having a lot of troubles with XP PRO after a CPU failure, when I tried to do an XP installation Repair. It failed miserably and after a month of posting and searching for answers, I threw in the towel. I reformatted the HD and did a clean install. On the advice of a MS Tech, I downloaded SP3 and installed it first thing. After I got everything up and running with all the updates, I discovered that XP no longer recognizes my USB ports as USB2. I found some original drivers on the Motherboard installation disk, but it will not allow me to install them because my XP SP2 install disk is already supposed to have them. I tried removing all the USB drivers and forcing XP to figure it out, but no luck. It is an ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe with a P4 processer and an XP PRO SP3 Operating System.
