Power Supply Consume Power

Mar 1, 2006

My PC has old configuration, the Max Power Supply can be only up to 350W. You know that every parts of the PC, either external or internal hardware will consume power. What I would like to know is that, what would happen to my PC if the total power consumption exceeds the MAXIMUM VALUE of the power supply unit.

Computer Won't Start - New Power Supply Did Not Help

Oct 12, 2006

Yester day I tried it twice I pressed the start button on the tower and you could hear the power supply try to start but would die and the computer would not come on. so about the thired time press the button and nothing, would even try to start. RD-350w Raid Max Power Supply

Aug 3, 2005

I have been using a "Raidmax RD-350W" power supply with a 20-pin connector to the motherboard. When i bought a new power supply it had a 24-pin connector to the motherboard. Here are a few questions since I know nothing about PSs. 1. Is there a designation (besides just manufacture preference) between 20 & 24-pin connectors to the motherboard (i.e. Pentium vs. AMD.I use AMD)? 2. Can I just buy a connector from the 24-pin connector from the PS to the 20-pin connector on my motherboard and not adversely affect my computer's power.

Change Power Supply Unit

Nov 2, 2006

I last night I turned off my computer for the night and this morning it wouldn't turn on. I checked the power cord and the power strip and everything looks fine. It looks like I have to replace the power supply unless someone has other suggestions. My question is, since I may have to replace my power supply, is it safe to replace it with one that is more than twice the wattage of the one that's in there now.

Infinite Loop Fix Looping Power Supply

Sep 9, 2002

The best solution to most issues with looping is POWER SUPPLY. Due to the huge amount of resources that video cards, sound cards, larger cpu's, they suck your power supply to the point that application cant perform. In turn it causes lockup, reboot and boot to desk top.A lot of resellers are only slapping in a 300watt power supply in newer systems. That doesn't work, you need at least a 400watt or greater. You need at least 450watt POWER SUPPLY. Take my word on it.This is the biggest issue i have studied on the net and in my lab for 1 1/2 years now. So many people have taken components back to the stores had them tested, to find out there is nothing wrong with them and go around shaking there heads in wonderment, without even considering power supply.

Unplug Computer From Power Supply To Shutdown

Feb 23, 2005

I have just upgraded one of my old Windows 98SE computers to XP Pro. The installation went well. But, for some reason now after I shutdown the computer in order for me to turn it back on I have to unplug it from the power supply and then plug it back in. Before i upgraded the computer I was already having a shutdown problem with Windows 98SE.Every time that I would shutdown, it would restart on its own.I tried to trouble shoot the problem.I even downloaded a patch from the Microsoft Website but it still didn't work.So i figured if i upgraded it to XP it would solve the problem, but I ended up with a different problem.

Nothing so I went into safe mode that was fine got out of there same thing logo looks like it was starting nothing. I did put in the Windows XP disk thinking to just do a repair still the same thing. I get the Windows screen like it is loading nothing. Go back to safe mode and here is what it says and there is no disk at all in the drive. Can not run setup from Safe Mode rebooting computer.

Power Supply Problem/problem With IPod

Apr 2, 2006

I have a question regarding my PC and some problems that I have been experiencing, which I think are related to my power supply.

First off, my PC will not recognize my iPod Shuffle. When I first purchased the Shuffle, everything worked fine, however one day when I went to plug it into my USB port, nothing happened and the orange light on the iPod flashed. I tried all the USB ports, including the ones on the back of the machine to no avail. This is not a problem on other people's machines, where XP is able to recognize the external device.

Also, whenever I go to shut down my computer, the light on the front of the tower is on and the fan is running. It is like the computer is not even shut down. I have to manually turn off the power strip everytime I want to shut my computer off. Also, "Stand by" is not an option on the XP menu.

I've been told this is a power supply issue. Anyone have any other ideas?

Desktop Manager For Power Users Must Have Power Toys

Aug 12, 2002

Desktop Manager allows you to switch between multiple desktops creating more elbow room for those who like to stay organized while pushing the max thread limit.1. First grab XP PowerToys from microsoft.com Once installed right click then check: task bar > toolbars > Desktop ManagerYou may now view up to four new desktops. I prefer not to have "Shared Desktops" on as it reminds me more of linux (and is cleaner). Now you may hide the buttons etc. and use Windows key + 1-4 to switch between desktops and Windows key + v to preview.

Blue Screen With 0x0000007B Code Due To Electric Supply Failure

Feb 18, 2009

I had an ELECTRIC POWER FAILURE during the start of Windows 2000 Professional this morning. After it, when I try to restart my computer, it begins to load Windows, but I receive the famous blue screen. The error code is:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0x8243D030, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
I tried with F8 (last valid configuration, etc of the list), but all give the same blue screen. My repair floppy disk is from september 2007. After it, I installed a second HD for files backup and needed to put drivers for Windows recognize the bigger HD size. All worked fine until the power failure this morning. Antivirus and scan are up to date. Since I installed the driver for the bigger size HD, I cannot more boot through the floppy disk, because it not recognizes the HD. Is there anything I can do to not reinstall Windows?

CD Burning Issues?

Feb 9, 2009

i can send files to the CD drive, but when I open an explorer window and try to use the "CD Writing tasks" on the left hand side (i.e Write these files to CD, Erase this CDRW etc...) nothing happens. The funny thing is, if I go back to "My Computer" and right click on the CD icon to perform a task, it appears to work.
Dragging files to an open CD explorer window also causes the window to close (although the temporary files are still copied across and a notification that there are files ready to be written to CD is displayed).
I am posotive the CDRWs and my CDRW drive are okay, as they work when using Nero. Its just an annoying problem I would like to sort out if anyone can help!? The probalem started before I installed Nero, so I dont think that has caused a problem. Some hardware specs below if they are needed:
Microsoft XP Home Edition
Version 2002
Service pack 3
HP Pavillion
Intel Celeron CPU 1.80GHz
1.25GHz of Ram
CD Drive:

What Can Cause Computer To Reboot While Burning

Jul 13, 2005

I have observed this since i had my PC, while burning a CD, my computer would suddenly restart as is the reset button had been pushed, sometimes even while reading a CD (even tho i havent observed this in a while) and even sometimes as soon as i was in the BIOS (that was quite unconvenient for trying to reinstall Windows I admitt) The problem is that, since that problem appeared (that's indeed since i've had this homemade PC), i changed the CPU, the motherboard, the burner, the alimentation, the RAM, the graphical card, the modem, i mean, everything besides the floppy disk reader thing, i also installed another Windows XP (SP1 indeed, even tho it was badly burnt so whenever i install it there is dll's that won't be installed) and in spite of all these changes, i still get those reboots while burning, and that's quite annoying mostly that it kills your CD's. so what can it be due to? i'd really appreciate an answer from anyone who might have one, cuz i've had this problem for 2 years now and now that i'm getting out of room on my hard disk and need to back up lots of things on CD's.

Also when I pop-in a DVD +/- either or they are reconized as a CD with 0 bytes. Is there like a plugin or something included with software E.g. Nero to enable this
