View 3 RepliesI recently started using DVD Decrypter to rip some of my DVD's and then convert them to play on my Sony Playstation Portable (using PSP video 9) And it's working great. Now that I know how to do this, (rip tracks off of DVD'S) I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what the BEST program is, or what people use, to use those .vob files and turn them into .AVI files or .MPEG files, so that I can carry them with me on my laptop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHaving recently had someone else using my computer for a while, installing various software (like winamp and SubEdit player) it seems windows media player (that's what I use) no longer recognises the usual files as media files like .mp3 .wmv .m3u .avi etc etc so when I click open file and select "media files (all types)" in the file type box it shows nothing, so I have to change it to all files which is irritating. Media player still plays everything fine but this is pretty annoying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was converting several video files from .avi to .wmv and I came across problems with some of them. Those that were unable to be converted ended up with 0 bytes and if I click on it, it shuts down "my compter" folder completely. How do I get rid of these? I am unable to change my views to thumbnails. I don't find it much of a problem if the files are plainly on my c: drive but when they are within a folder, I can't change the view or get rid of those files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had read a previous post about media files causing explorer to crash. It recommended disabling thumbnails previews, which did work for opening the folder. That is fixed, but now I am getting errors when I try to open certain media files i those folders, I can open one .avi but will not be able to open another. Same with .mpg, I will be able to open 10, but one consistantly will cause Explorer.exe to crash. I had K-lite codecs installed, I tried uninstalling them to see if that was causing problems. I have no idea what is going on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the past I have had no problem playing video files on my Windows Media player 10. Now, all of a sudden I cannot see the video but I can hear the sound. This is also the case with the two other players I use - Real and VLC. Having discovered the problem, I have downloaded some codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Co...k_download.htm in case the codecs are corrupt but it makes no difference.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout a week and a half or so ago loading media files takes forever. Whenever I click on a MP3 or AVI file it takes about 30 secs before it loads. In the meantime I get a Windows Explorer has stopped responding dialog and I can either shut it down or wait for it to load.
I've run Spybot, Adaware, and installed ZoneAlarm. I keep getting a message that my computer is trying to access another comp on my network.
I've also tried restoring to an older restore point with no luck.
On my Dell Inspiron 700 laptop, (with intel integrated graphics) wmp crashes when playing wmv files. The laptop is running windows xp home with sp2. I have no problems using winamp playing .wmv files. I have tried upgrading to IE7 and installing Windows Media Player 11 and it does not resolve it. I even tried uninstalling wmp 11, and then uninstalling/re-installing windows media player 10 and it still doesn't fix the problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running windows XPSP3 with windows media player 11. For some reason I cannot play wmv or avi files. I get the audio but no video. This is true for any media player that I have tried. I have re installed both the media player and windows to no avail. I have checked the codecs and seem to have the most common ones (see below) I ran GSpot on one of the files and it said that I had the proper codec, yet it still won't play. I am sure it is a setting problem of some sort , but don't know where. Can you give me any help?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive recently got corrupted and I had to install WP XP Home, instead of XP Professional that I had previously. After installation and downloading WMP, I was unable to play any MPEG files that previously worked. WMP gives me the following error - C00D11B1. Even the files thumbnails dont look the same (currently look like generic files). However, the MPEGs work fine when I play them in Quicktime and even iTunes. I downloaded/bought a plug-in from the WMP website which I think gives me MPEG-2 decoder/DVD software etc. However, I think that relates to DVD play etc, while I am more concerned about the videos from my Sony Digital Camera which still dont work. Am I missing any drivers etc that I need to download? Btw music files work fine, and this only relates to videos.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever i try to play some of my video files (.avi, .mpg. wmv. etc) my shell and media player will both crash. For shells i have tried both bblean and standard explorer, media players i have tried are windows media player, winamp, and bsplayer. It dosent actually crash the program, it just brings up the little "this program needs to close" thing. if i drag it to the side the video will continue to play (somtimes). somtimes the videos wont load at all.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince installing SP3 my media centre will not open although the rest of XP runs fine. I get a report 'Strong name validation failed for assembly 'C:Windowsehomeehshell.exe. The file may have been tampered with or it was partially signed but not fully signed with the correct private key.I have the original installation disk from Dell, but it won't recognise the key that came with the pc to re install it. Is there any way I can repair the file in question. I have tried uninstalling sp3, and using the recovery program, but nothing is working to make it work again.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI run XP Pro SP1 with Fat 32 and when I try to back my 80gb hard drive to an external 80gb hard drive, I run into file size limitations. Since a full back up is over 5 hours, I usually try to run it when I'm not around but it stops to await a prompt from me to proceed to the "next media" In the documentation for the back up software, it discusses NFTS. For some reason, I chose not to convert to NFTS when I upgraded to XP but can't remember what it was at the time. What are the pros or cons with NFTS as opposed to Fat32 and what problems may I encounter with a conversion?
