AVG free edition resident shield is finding a virus at C:WindowsSystem32mmxF32.ll Trojan horse back door.Generic2.QQQ It won't heal, access denied, it can't move it to the virus vault, access denied and no file exists using search hidden files and folders or using the DOS prompt to search the files.

Have just installed AVG free anti-virus, and to my horror it has found 126 trojan horses, despite having Norton av for 3 yrs. All of the trojan horses have been sent to the vault, but I am not sure what to to now they are in the vault, should I delete them? Will that affect any programs? Pleaser can some-one tell me what to do with them once that are in the vault. Sorry if this seems basic but I am still trying to learn all the computer termonology, I am really trying to understand

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy nephews hp pc that had windows xp home edition on it. it was running hella slow and he didnt have a recover cd for his old hp pc he has. so i had a copy of windows xp home edition (service pack 2) so i erased the whole hard drive and reinstalled my copy of windows xp home edition and after that i needed to activate the product key! so i tried to put the product key i have but microsoft tells me its wrong and to retry it again! so i downloaded a product key finder V1.0 and it came up with a different product key, so i tried to use the product key what the key finder found and still micro soft says its not right and to retry again!! so now im so confuse and dont know what to do any more!! the window xp exspires in 26 days if i dont activated.

I am not downloading updating anything (not to my knowledge, anyway), so what could be eating the free space up? It's diminishing daily - 2 days ago I had 1000 MB free space, today I have 880 MB free. I had noticed this the other day when I got an error message saying my disk space was low. There seemed to be plenty of space the last time I checked before the warning message, but when I looked again, a huge chunk of free space just disappeared. So, I did a disk cleanup, deleted TONS of temporary files (about 630 MB-worth), etc. and that got me to the above mentioned 1000 MB of free space. But why is it just depleting everyday? It is my work computer, and I keep all of my data (consisting of mapping-related software and data, primarily) on other drives - none of the data I work with is on my C: drive.

View 17 Replies View RelatedHey guys, I don't have the computer in front of me, but my mom's computer is working really slowly, and it's had the defragger ran on it, and according to Ad-Aware and AVG it's clean, so what could possibly be making it run so slowly? If you absolutely have no idea, I'll try to get a hijackthis log for it, but as I said, Ad-Aware and AVG didn't find anything wrong with it there, and I ran the defrag on it the other day and it didn't help at all. Plenty of space left on the HD, so I have no idea what is going on....except that maybe the computer is a lemon. They've had problems with it since pretty soon after they bought it, but it's just progressively gotten worse.

Well, in the main inferface it only says that anti-virus is on, but i dont see anything about anti-spyware on. However on the website it says the free version gives anti-spyware so I am guessing in the program when it says Anti-Virus, it means anti-virus and anti-spyware right? On the website i saw it did say is gives both. Please help as if it has no anti-spyware, then i wont use it.

Everthing's working fine now from what I can tell, except sound. the troublshooting provided by windows so far hasn't turned up anything and the updating from windows' site hasn't helped either. my control panel says that only my usb device is being read although the speaker system is hooked up exactly as before.

The problem is that it seems at some point that some kind of update was interrupted during the process and the system will not load unless a windows xp professional edition disk is inserted to complete the update. I also cannot get it to start in safe mode. Unfortunately, I only have a home edition disk. Can I reformat XP pro with a home edition disk? If not, are there any other options?

In those two years, I had to re-install Windows XP and everything else on my computer...for reasons unknown...I recently performed a New Installation of Windows XP on my computer. View 39 Replies View RelatedMy PC recently got a fairly nasty virus (W32-Sinowal-based Maximus! or something along those lines) so we had to get it wiped. A few days later, my computer was all messed up again. I can only boot up in Safe Mode, my sound doesn't work, and it is running slower than normal. I need to find out if I have another virus (although the guy who fixed it downloaded Norton Anti-Virus and it seemed fine for a few days) or if maybe my computer is just dying. It's about three years old and apparently it was outdated before we even bought it. Is there any way the virus could have affected the computer's hard drive or whatever (yeah, I don't quite know what I'm talking about) or have I maybe gotten another virus?
