Trojan/Virus - SECURITY TOOL
Apr 21, 2010Recently had a window pop up that said SECURITY TOOL do you want to scan your computer blah blah blah. He clicked no and the program installed anyway. Now any time you try to open a program, the security tool pops up saying the file is infected etc. I can't even run hijack this. Here are the computer specs: Need help ASAP

May 9, 2007My computer had been running fine, but I was using Mcafee and I hated it, so I uninstalled it. Without having any antivirus software to replace it with right away. So, about a week later (aka today), my dad was helping me install a new printer when everything went crazy. It was taking forever for my computer to boot up, and then after it was 'ready' it was incredibly slow. Then it would go to a blue screen with some text on it (I wish I had written down what it said, but I didn't-something about an infection detected) and we would shut it down manually. Finally, we were able to restore the computer to an earlier date. The printer is no longer installed, but I think I still have a virus.
I just installed avast, which during a reboot it did a scan where I had lots of infected files, and several options as to what to do with them. A few of them were temporary internet files, and not thinking, I hit delete. I realized this was a bad idea, and for the infected files after that, I selected "move to chest."
I'm not sure where to go from here. A lot of them are c:system volume information\_restore... which might have something to do with why my speakers aren't working.

The person told me that, that will take care of the problem of the internet disconnecting. I think that it could be the virus I had in the computer. I wasn't able to get on-line for at least a week, I had gone and checked the disk for errors and finally the anti-virus program was able to find the virus's.

Apr 4, 2006i downloaded "Demo Version" Jv16 Power tools 2005 from a link to find duplicate files and clean my registry, I thought that programs I had uninstalled and reinstalled for varius reasons were all duplicated with missing files. The download didn't have the handbook which i found out later i needed so now after running dup. file finder, reg cleaner. I have a very unstable system nothing stays stable and there is a mass of backups I don,t know where to start. The forum there won,t help. supposedly I got a old Beta version. My backups don,t look anything like there's. I would like to go back to before i installed with system restore point but i dont know if it can retrieve files from Jv16 backup or what.

Free Software Tool To Recovering Files From A Deleted NTFS Partition
Nov 26, 2008Did something really stupid the other day. Was doing a Windows install and I mistook a drive for a different drive.In short, I deleted the partition, recreated the partition, but I haven't reformatted yet. The partition was the same size before and after so that shouldn't be a problem. the files should still be there but I don't know how to get at them. I've already tried Recuva, UndeletePlus, Restoration, and a Knoppix boot disk but none of these were able to do anything because of the lack of a file system/boot sector.

May 10, 2009I've seen a bunch of threads where people say they login to the computer and it won't let them open their user settings, or it does but their desktop items are gone. Long story short, everyone was told to create a new User and copy the setting over from the c:documents and settings. What happens if the files aren't there? I have rolled my mouse over the c: drive and it shows that my file size is still the same and that my files should be there. But when I do a search for them or try and find the files, they aren't there?
All of the items from my desktop, start menu (including system restore) are gone. If I search for system restore in the help settings I can run it.. But running it back further than I was having the issue still doesn't fix it?
