I'm using an ASUS Eee PC 4G XP "Galaxy Black" 7" LCD Display, 4GB SSD (Solid State Disk) HD, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, 0.92 kg, Wireless LAN B/G, Hi-Definition Audio, Preloaded With Windows XP Home Webpages on IE7 just won't display properly. The backgrounds will just be plain white and all the graphics are either very plain or not there at all. (Picture included, sorry for the bad quality)
Any ideas/suggestions?
I have custom built many computer systems over the years, but I feel like a new comer when trying to decide what board and chip set to use on a socket 939 system. I have used ASUS extensively and will use ASUS on this system. With all of the various chipsets and motherboards available from ASUS for the socket 939 I have reached to a point of total frustration. The more I research the duller my mind becomes and am asking for some help or suggestions.The computer will be used for research, a lot of it on the web, for graphics work and for preparation of presentations. I am not a gamer, am not interested in gaming, and do not have any games on my PC.
I know that the chipset will basically determine which motherboard to use. I am considering the VIA K8T800 PRO chipset, as the ATI and NVIDA chipsets seem to be more for gamers. Again my mind is awash from researching the various chipsets available for the socket 939 from the different chipset manufacturers, ATI, NVIDA, and VIA. I would like some input on which chipset would be best for general computing? Also, I was thinking about an AGP video card, but after research I feel like AGP is becoming a dinosaur. On the other hand it seems like the only advantage of PCI Express is for gamers especially in a dual configuration. Is there any real advantage of PCI Express over AGP for general computing? Would it be advantageous to go PCI Express over AGP?

AI Booster is a very cool little OC'ing utility that makes it easier for newbie people like myself to OC within a controlled environment without the fear of screwing something up in the BIOS.Now AI Gear and AI Booster can't run at the same time. So if AI Booster is set up to launch on start up, there's a pop up that will prompt you to disable AI Gear so the booster can be used.
with my PC (described below) that was built about 1 year ago. Recently I loaded some video-editing software (Adobe Premiere Elements v4) to do some video work. I also loaded Pinnacle Studio 9 along with a patch, because it offers some nice features when capturing raw video. Shortly after, I began having a boot problem. The ASUS screen would come up as usual, but it would hang for maybe 30 to 50 seconds, and then a blank black screen would come up with the cursor blinking at the upper-left corner. Normally the ASUS screen is on for only 10 seconds or so, followed by the black screen for a few seconds, and finally the XP start-up screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHey I'm running an ASUS K8V-SE Deluxe mobo w/ Windows XP Pro. When I turn on my computer it sort of hangs up on the first screen where it shows the ASUS manufacturers logo or whatever. I believe this is where it is running POST tests in the background, I've hit DELETE before to see whats happening during this and its auto detecting Primary Drives and stuff like that. Well within 20-30 seconds of that the screen goes blank and theres a one little blinking cursor for about 3 seconds then the cursor jumps down a line and blinks twice and finally the Windows XP loading screen comes up.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just had to replace the mother board on my computer Its a Asus P4PE motherboard After replacing the motherboard, I just hooked up the hard drive I was using and the computer did come back up. The new motherboard is another P4PE warranty replacement board from Asus.
The computer is working but I can't get sound or USB services The computer doesn't even seem to know that sound hardware exists on this new motherboard for some reason... The USB, I have no idea why its not working other then the fact I can't get my USB printer or camera to work... Do I have to "Reload" XP? I don't want to loose what's on my hard drive... View 8 Replies View RelatedI have repair-installed my windows the other day, and everything is going fine. Except for when i decided to restart my computer after oinstalling my sound drivers.
I restart, log on after typing in my pass and it shows my desktop for 2 seconds and the black screen appears. It doesnt have anyhting to do with the sound driver installation because i tried restarting without installing them, and it sitll messed up. The only time it comes on properly is if i press F8 on start up and choose "last best known configuration". and then it starts right up. What can i do to stop this malfunction.

For last month at the startup sometimes PC start up ok, but before XP logo comes, the whole screen goes black and only one flashing dash at the top left corner of the screen. As a last resort I pressed the restate button. It loaded as usual and before the log in screen arrived the whole screen went black and I couldn't do anything. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 1.3MP USB webcam. I have 2 PCs. The webcam works all right with the laptop, except that machine is too wimpy to support video conferencing. When I connect the same webcam to my desktop, it SEEMS to be OK; it is recognized, drivers install OK, BUT when I use (for example) the Skype video set-up, it all seems to work, I can command the webcom ON (and the LED lights up), BUT there is NO VIDEO shown, just a black screen. All info screens show the webcam is OK, but I can't get the PC to recognize any video from it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince I installed Windows XP Pro 64 bit, I seemingly randomly encounter a problem with the screen display. The computer will be functioning fine and then the screen will go black (the monitor is still on) for approximately a single second and then come back on. It does not happen every time I use the computer, but when it does occur, the only solution I have found is restarting the machine (sometimes I have to do this multiple times). I am quite sure the problem lies with Windows or with the drive Windows is installed on as I have Fedora 8 installed on another drive in the system, and it does not encounter this problem. Is anyone aware of a fix for this problem or perhaps a special driver/configuration mode I should acquire? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt is just a backup drive to be used for video editing -not a primary drive. However, once rebooting I get as far as the windows boot screen and then it hangs. The screen goes black, my monitors power down and nothing happens. Occassionally it reboots on it's own accord but instead of seeing the usual dos prompt screen all I get are some nastly looking blocky patterns. I usually have to turn the power off at the wall when this happens. I get no error messages on the screen at any time.
The good news is I CAN BOOT IN SAFE MODE! This is the difference I have found with other similar problems posted. I can boot in 'safe mode' and 'safe mode with networking' no problem. I can see all my HDD's and everything seems fine. From here I've tried doing system restore several times with no effect.

Whats happening: Runs fine, reboot computer (powered off or a reboot) and start back up results in a black screen with no windows logo. Reboot computer it gives me the bad windows start up last known good, safe mode etc screen. If I choose start normally goes into windows and everything seems fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout four months ago, I received a computer as a gift. However, about two weeks ago, while booting, I got a screen asking to run (I believe) a scan on my drives. After the scan was done, The computer completely shut down. When I tried to turn it back on, where the log in screen should be with the accounts on it, I had only a black screen, but I could see and move my cursor.I have done everything I could think of, tried to start in Safe Mode (same thing happened), tried to boot in Last Best Configuration(same), put hard drive in another computer and defragged it(No Results), and tried putting my Windows XP CD in to do a System Restore(Same thing happens). I don't really have very much on the computer, so a restore would not be too painful. Is there anything that I NEED to do when booting up with my XP disk to perform a restore?
