.Net 1.1 Framework Uninstall - Business Application
Nov 29, 2005
I recently installed a business application which also installed MS .Net 1.1 Framework. I have uninstalled the business application but .Net remains and I am getting the Windows welcome screen because of the ASPNET user which was set up. Can I just Remove .NET with Add/Remove or is it more complicated than that. Something I saw mentioned editing the registry which I would like to avoid doing.
I need help to uninstall Microsoft Net Framework 1.1 hotfix, (KB886904) please. I have WXP Pro SP2. When I try to uninstall the hotfix from add/rem. I get "The upgrade patch cannot be installed because program to be upgraded may be missing" . I have installed 'Windows install cleanup', and when I open it the hotfix is not listed. Prior to the hotfix being installed on my computer by Windows update, I had Microsoft Net Framework 1.1 listed twice in add/rem, but when I tried to uninstall it,it came up that it was not installed so it could not be uninstalled. I got rid of it with a 3rd party uninstaller. I have also Net Framework 2.0 installed by Windows Update. Windows update also tried to reinstall Net Framework 1.1 but failed. So I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to get rid of the hotfix.
When trying to uninstall NET.Framework, to reinstall it, Windows Installer hangs. Gives message about registration, but no reference on how to do it. Windows installer works to install other updates.
Am trying to remove an application using Add/Remove Programs - I get a message saying: Failed assertion in Crypt.cpp at line 2104 - error loading signature XML from Sigs.xml.Uninstall failed. Can I uninstall it by deleting the registry entries in Hkey CU/Software and Hkey LM/Software?

Can anybody recommend a good desktop PC to buy for my new business. It will be used to store all of the invoices generated (Approx 10 per day) on SAGE. Also we will be using Adobe Photoshop to design artworks to appear in our magazines. Im assuming I need one with a good memory so it will hold a lot of information but as i know zero about computers I need some help!I have had a look on Curry's website and have found the Acer Aspire x1301 for just under 400. Does anybody know if this will be suitable?
Can anyone help me with a quick question or solution for a problem with my fax..I have a new HP Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier for business, It works great. After installing it and using it for 3-4 months we had power outage and when the power came back, somehow the "Windows Fax" that comes with Windows XP Home, had taken over answering my phone on the second ring! Believe me I have tried everything, uninstalling then installing, changing the number rings before it answers, disabling, and still that #@$ still answers my phone, which caller hear as a loud fax scream in their ear and they have to hang up.My HP fax eavesdrops and when I don't answer my phone the answer machine picks up on the 4th ring which the HP hears and if it is a fax tone automatically recieves it. I love that it picks up without my having to do anything.
I have been installing each and every update from microsoft. I now get the Windows Update to install a security patch for Framework.net. It fails to install every time and comes back again and again to install. I did a very quick search on this problem and it seems there are problems concerning how Framework was loaded and what versions youo have.First of all, as far as I know, I have only loaded a new Framework version because a program I downloaded informed me I need this new version. I do not keep track of how I loaded Framework, what versions or anything. Looking as some of these proposed solutions require knowing a lot more about how you loaded them and what versions you have.
I originally had Vista Business edition on my laptop and decided to dual boot with XP. So far I created a partition on the same drive (C: ) as Vista and installed XP on it. how do I choose between Vista and XP when my computer boots up? When I turn on my computer it boots straight into XP and doesn't show that menu where it gives me a choice of which OS I want to boot
I used WinXP SP3 32b OS, I installed .net framework 3.5 sp1 on it, after that I check .net 2.0. it's die! Into control panel, I see that .net 2.0 sp2, .net 3.0 sp2 but .net 3.5 sp1? I think that with WinXP sp3 OS can not fit with .net 3.5 SP1?? is that my ideal correct?
what is it and what does it do? Windows update has been trying to auto install version 2.0 and has errors doing so. Both 1.1 and 2.0 are listed under my add/remove programs but cannot be uninstalled or repaired. Microsoft says that these are critical updates but I cannot tell if I have a corrupt version.
I've checked a few other threads relating to WinXP suddenly asking for password at start, and that .NET 1.1 SP1 is required to fix this. On Friday, I had a crash and had to reformat HD and reinstall Windows, then sent Auto Update to get everything needed. According to Update History, SP1 downloaded and installed with no problems. However when I look in Add/Remove Programs I only see .NET 1.1 and a Hotfix for it. Should I see something that says SP1 if it's really on my system?
Looking in the Add Remove panel I see there are a couple versions of NET, 1.1, 2, and 3, do I need all of these? I do know that the software for the video card needs "Net", not sure which version if that makes a difference.
MS recently updated me with lots of files relative to something called .Net Framework. From what little I understand about it, it appears to be something for programmers, which I'm not. It includes a couple of updates for C++ which I know is a programming language. Is any of this needed for my applications to run properly or for net surfing? Any harm in deleting every update relative to Framework?
I am attempting to install the .net framework and am having issues. when attempting to install i get the error 'Error creating process TempIXP000.TMPInstall.exe>. Reason: system32advpack.dll. I checked to see if the dll was there.
I've got the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed on my WinXP Pro computer. Now, my Add/Remove Programs lists both 1.1 and 2.0 as being installed. Does anyone know if I would be safe to uninstall 1.1. In other words, is .NET 2.0 completely backward compatible?
I have tried to install a one note power toy for my office suite and it popped up and mentioned that I need something called a .net frame. Does anybody know where I can download this, and how big is it? I am only on dial up and can't handle anything too large.
Can somebody tell me in very simple terms what .NET Framework is and does the average Joe User/web surfer need it? I've Googled and did a lot of FAQs but I've found nothing in simple terms. There were many references to webdevelopers and networking but it is mostly written in techno-ese which I don't speak.
Microsoft's .Net Framework v1.1 changes the user's logon and shutdown method (due to the installation of ASP.NET and sets up an additional user account).I'm aware of how to change the logon annoyance so that process skips the password check and goes straight into the Windows XP Professional SP1 desktop. It's the "shutdown" method I'm referring.Net Framework has created a very annoying "dropdown" menu option list when you want to restart, logoff, shutdown, etc., instead of the Windows XP simple 3-choice icon option which is in plain sight after you select Start/Turn Off Computer. Does anyone have a fix as to how to return to the original way of shutting down prior to .Net Framework's tampering?
I've been trying like hell to install Sony Vegas 6, but when I ran the install it said that I needed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. So I go to Microsoft's site to get the install and every time I try to download it I get a 404 Page Not Found Error. Can anyone tell me where to find this app? I really need it and it's driving me crazy that Microsoft doesn't just...have it. Here's the page where I tried to download in case it works for someone else.
This Windows update won't install, I have tried repairing, reinstalling, nothing works. I have Windows XP. I also cannot do a Restore to an earlier date. Registry problems
Can anyone tell me how to repair or uninstall a corrupted .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installation? I have tried Add/Remove on Control Panel, Windows Install Cleanup (file no longer showing), and downloading and re-installing the application - none work, 3.5 SP1 still shows in Add/Remove with earlier versions (back to 1.1)
I went to the MS Critical Update page and saw the following Critical Update for my WinXPsp3. Does anyone know if it is a Critical Update? Must it be downloaded and installed? It is the largest update (248 MB) Critical Update I have ever seen and I wonder if it is really, really necessary to download and install.
My windows update utility is trying to send an update "Microsoft .Net Framework." It is a rather large file, around 70 Mb. The two computers in question are a netbook and an older computer I use to run ham radio programs. Both run XP Home. What is .net framework and do I need to run the updates?
I have Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002; Service Pack 2; Pentium 4; 496 MB. I went into my add/remove programs and I have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (and its Hotfix). Now, I am trying to understand what the .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 are for. Which version of the .NET Framework should I have.
I would like to know with which version of Windows XP Service will I get .NET Framework. Please give me the Service Pack # and .NET Framework version that will be bundled along with that.
