Am trying to remove an application using Add/Remove Programs - I get a message saying: Failed assertion in Crypt.cpp at line 2104 - error loading signature XML from Sigs.xml.Uninstall failed. Can I uninstall it by deleting the registry entries in Hkey CU/Software and Hkey LM/Software?
I recently installed a business application which also installed MS .Net 1.1 Framework. I have uninstalled the business application but .Net remains and I am getting the Windows welcome screen because of the ASPNET user which was set up. Can I just Remove .NET with Add/Remove or is it more complicated than that. Something I saw mentioned editing the registry which I would like to avoid doing.
I cant install or uninstall any programs, when trying to uninstall iget the box that states,'' the windows installer service could not be accessed '' an so on.im not in safe mode.also i keep getting error 1068.and error 1607 error runtime script.i need some simple fixes and ones that worked i have tried several different ones with no succcess.
I installed the SP3 today and have been kicking myself since then. I didn't even follow advice I was giving others to wait. I set a restore point before I installed it and went into Safe Mode to restore to that setting. When I checked on my Add/Remove Programs file it states the SP3 Cannot be Removed. I have read here in a few threads that some people have uninstalled it. I don't know of anyother way other than AddRemove programs. I hope I don't have to reformat. What happened was that my computer would start to boot up and hang, then I got it to boot up as far as desktopand then it will just hang.
Since I decided not to have ICQ (I didn't register) I get an error messege saying Error Opening File:icqPro2003b.log this file is necessary to perform Uninstall. Press Ok to quit uninstall. I want to uninstall IE6. I'm using FireFox and completely satisfied with it.I tried looking at MS's website and it tells me that I need to go into Add/Remove in teh control panel to do it.However a few weeks back I had posted saying that my Add/Remove shows nothing at all and I have to remove programs using the registry to find the uninstall string. Now, I'm no expert, or even that comfortable working with the registry but how would I go about removing IE6? I cannot find it under the section where I uninstall other programs from.
Ok son decided 7 would be nice I hate it, I want to uninstall however it is not under Add/Remove programs, I have also went to Microsoft's support sight and did the start/run and a bunch of options for comands that start with % none of those worked either, any ideas on how I can remedy this? I see in Add/Remove .NET can be uninstalled in Windows XP and 2000 and have a couple of questions. Will deleting throug Add/Remove entirely get rid of .NET in both OSs? Will there be any loss in functinality? As far as I know, I'm not using .NET Is there anything to be aware of deleting .NET?
I had a virus and decided to install windows xp pro. I thought it would replace the existing window xp home edition but it didn't. How can i unistall one of them?
When I access add or remove programs in my control panel, and attempt to uninstall anything, The specified module could not be found. There's some crap I'd really like to get rid of, but I can't until I can't get this wee little problem fixed.
We've had some BAD experiences. It may be that Dell just sent us a lemon of a computer, but we've had nothing but trouble since we got this "new toy" for Christmas. Even *after* they replaced the hard drive. We want out.We don't want to "fix" it.Please just tell me how in heck to get XP off the computer and start over with a *stable* system like Win2K.Don't tell me how good XP is or how bad 2K is. Just tell me how to get rid of XP.I want to know the most efficient, effective way of reformatting a hard drive with the XP OS factory installed on it.Everything is backed up and ready to go. I have the information I need to get the hardware drivers for 2K. All I need at this point are instructions for wiping the slate clean to start over with a different OS.
i decidided to download ie8 beta and now i cannot get into my bank accounts to ck or make payments, i presume that the banks are not yet supporting the beta updates. is there a fix or can you tell me how to delete ie 8 and reload ie7?
I want to uninstall an application ActivCard from a command prompt with the same results that would be had using the "Add/Remove Programs" GUI in XP. How do I do that
I'm posting this for someone just starting out with their 1st computer. There were 2 virus scanners installed Norton and Mc Afee I tried un-installing Mc Afee but the full thing won't uninstall and the Norton is corrupt the only thing you can do is run the liveupdate when you click on 'scan for viruses' you just see the outer edges but not the whole dialog box (tried uninstalling but can't remove all the components as well.
I hooked up a friend's HD (to my computer) to install his version of Windows XP on his HD b/c his computer was having hardware-related startup problems we were in the process of fixing. In doing so, Windows XP installed setup files on MY HD. I run Win XP PRO. Not Home Ed., which is what we installed on his HD b/c that's what he had. The installation of Win Xp Home Ed went well and his computer is running fine now.Anyway, so now I have Win XP Home Ed setup files on my comp, in addition to my Win Xp Pro. Every time I restart my computer, it gives me the option of running Pro or Win Xp Setup. Not really a major biggy since I can just choose pro and go on to start my comp regularly. However, if I wanted to get rid of that and get those XP Home Ed Setup files off my computer, how would I go about it?
Just upgraded a 98se to winxp.ONE problem I'm having is getting Norton AV to work. XP security screen states that I don't have an anti-virus program.I've tried to uninstall and reinstall NAV but xp won't let me uninstall. Hi - I'm new here and hope someone can help! I have a Compaq PC and an Advent Laptop - on network. I have a very old version of iTunes on the PC - and it will NOT uninstall!! I have the latest version on the laptop - and all is in good working order. Bur it would often be nuch more convenient to load from CDDs to iPod while working at the PC. I have tried just downloading the latest iTunes from the web - but just get told"unsuccessful"! So I tried to uninstall from Control Panel Add/Remove first.
I want to clean my son's system by wiping the HD and then reinstall XP Home Edition. I've done this many times before with Windows 98 - it was a straightforward process. With 98 I created a startup diskette, wiped the HD, and then re-booted with the floppy and reinstalled 98.I've never done this before on XP. I have the DELL Reinstallation XP CD (Service Pack 1) and I have the 25 character Product ID stamped on the sides of the PC so that should be straightforward. I've backed up my son's files to CD. Do I need to create a startup floppy?
First of all I meant to say internet explorer not XP lol....Hey guys I have an ongoing problem that I cannot seem to fix, right now this thread is on like 2 other forums and they do not know hwat to say to help so maybe you guys do. The problem is, if I go to a website such as tmobile.ocm/jobs or bet's 106th and park the picture wuill pop up for a sec and go away, which seems to be a flash issue but isnt, one because I have deleted and reinstalled flash 3 times and 2, this is only a problem with IE not Mozilla, its fine with it. So my question is, how do I uninstall and reinstall IE without an XP cd?
Have been told by MSN and Verizon that my MSN software has been corrupted. Verizon wants to know a dial up number for reinstallation, but I am on a cable modem and do not have a dial up any more. Is there some way to delete corrupted files and then reinstall MSN?Last time I tried, the corrupted files were the result. Also, when I shut computer down, I get an error message indicating run32dll.exe is not responding and I have to order it to "end now" in order to shut down. When I boot computer up, it is very slow identifying sites I normally visit everyday. IE: Net Address, my email service.
First I had win 95 on my computer than win 98 and then win 98 2nd Edition. I installed Win XP Pro with the SP2. All went well but I had to add some driver etc.I feel that it is not working correctly as there is another computer a friend has with the same program but it works differently. Sorry but I cannot explain it. I'm an old retired person and trying to understand these things.I would like to uninstall Xp and then reinstall. Will I need to go through the driver bit again and will any of my other programs be affected in a way that I might need to do something with them?
I was trying to perform a repair install of WINXP PRO and somehow ended up with two operating systems installed. How can I delete/uninstall the one that I just did install?
