View 1 Replies View RelatedIt takes me to a screen the says "Switch to a Microsoft account on this PC" It shows my Microsoft account picture and ask for current password. When I enter it I get message password is incorrect. I don't see option of recovering my password at this point.
When I look in Apps & Windows Store and click on Windows Store and"Why can't I sign in to Windows Store?" and click on" Go to the Reset password website" and then choose "I forgot my password" it ask me to inter my "Microsoft account". Which I do and it sends a security code to my alternate email address.
I get the code to reset password and I enter it where it ask me to. It tells me to create a new password and I do. Then I get a page telling me my account has been recovered. I click next and it takes me to a Sign in page for my Microsoft Account. which shows my email account and a password. I click sign in to Microsoft account and it does just fine but it still won't let me sign into the Windows App Store.
I have Windows 8 installed on a local account and wish to sign in from my Microsoft Account but only as & when required not all of the time. Shawn's tutorial "How to Sign in with a Different Microsoft Account to the Store in Windows 8" covers the procedure which should apply.
Attempting this offers only the "Sign In" button however once clicked the spinning circle appears for a fleeting second before the pointer is returned to the button once more, further attempts loopback in the same manner.
I can only surmise that this is happening because I have undertaken a customised install using Kari's excellent tutorial "How to Relocate User Profiles to another Partition or Disk in Windows 8" where the User Profile concerned is "D:User" and not "C:UsersUser" this being my longstanding preference from previous Windows installs from XP to 7.
I have tried the mklink /j route to link both C:UsersUser and D:UsersUser with D:User but with no success.
Is there a registry key containing the profile path which is used by the store sign in which requires modifying to my customised path of D:User?? .....or is something else amiss??
I recently, restored my acer m5-581ptg to factory settings, since it is an older version (2012), there were about 111 updates that needed to be installed. That all went fine and then on startup, it starts up and shows the loading sign and 'please wait'.
I tried tapping f8 and shift + f8 with no luck whatsoever, and i also disconnected from power supply and took out battery, and restarted, still starts up 'no funny noises or anything' and then just sits on 'please wait'.
Running Windows 8 all was fing and I notce the color had change on the toolbar. I go to control page and made a change to the resolutions and color an and click "ok". That's when it all hit the fan, The screen started flashing and won't let me get to the sign it page. the desktop screen will pop up quick, I can see the sign in box box it won't let me sign it. It will flash so fast that I can't type the password it and if I use the scanner it just flash longer.

Win 8.1 .... Switch to a Microsoft account on this PC. The password you entered is incorrect. Try again.
Can make the password visible, it is correct. Running no version of webroot. Restore the computer to a time when the password worked, it never has even though it is correct for signing into my account on the micro website. Changed my password and still no success.
I made the mistake of creating a password to sign into my personal computer and am now trying to undo it. Also, I am using Windows 8.
How can I eliminate the need for a password every time I use my computer?
The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded. (Window 8)
Today when I tried to use my laptop, I got an error when attempting to log on with my profile. It states:
"The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded."
I am using a different PC right now, of course. I had Googled the error, but none of the solutions (thus far) will work in my predicament. It is a Windows 8 PC, so I cannot access the system BIOS in order to perform a system restore, cause unfortunately, it goes straight to the log on screen(Which is become SOLID BLANK COLOR). I don't have a second profile on the system, either. I can't find any way to access the BIOS, Settings, Admin. Profile, or anything.
(SOLID BLANK COLOR) the back ground image for the log in screen is a solid color and not an actual image, anymore.
I can't access the start menu to open the CMD, because I cannot log into my profile and there is no other profile on the PC, besides Administrator ... Which is, unfortunately, hidden. I cannot make it visible, because I'd have to log in to accomplish such a task ...
The problem is not that I am incompetent and cannot conjure a new profile or complete simple tasks on a computer. My predicament seems to be that I cannot access anything. I need to log onto my profile in order to reach the CMD, or any other settings for that matter. Unless there's some, very well hidden, way to run CMD from the log in screen. I know that there is a minuscule detail that I am overlooking, but I cannot find it.
If there's any way to access CMD, BIOS, or anything at the log in screen.
When I opened mu laptop (I'm using ASUS) = Its going STRAIGHT to the BLANK SOLID Screen and There's that. Nothing.... I cannot find anyway how to log in using safe mode and try anyway boot using f1 or anything....
IMPORTANT Problem: didnt's have a cd Windows 8, just found out this problem, didnt even made another account... and other PC is using win7...
I am able to login to my computer using my Microsoft account but if I try logging into the Windows Store, installing any new apps or updating any of them I get random error codes that I have Googled and they don't lead to anything. I thought it might be related to security software (I use Norton Internet Security) so I tried disabling it and it didn't do anything. I have no viruses or any other kind of malware so why this is happening. I have updated my laptop to Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference.

Should I sign up for a MS account using a Hotmail address, or using my Gmail address? What is the advantage in using a Hotmail address in order to access my Gmail. What are the pros & cons?
I'd like to be able to view/send email but not download it onto my tablet, as I use Live Mail on my main PC and want all my downloaded email on that computer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWin 8 Pro x64. I had to use my Administrator account today and then returned to my named Local/Admin one. Now, when I go to reboot, Windows gives a message that "Other people are logged on to this computer. Restarting Windows might cause them to lose data." What I don't find is a way to sign out of that Admin account. Is there, short of disabling it? Seems sort of a Catch-22.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave a question regarding "Local Account". I'm having problems connecting to the Win 8 laptop from Win 7 as it will not accept my sign in credentials. With that, am I to assume that this is because the credential aren't "Local", and thus this is what this is for???
It will not accept the "Microsoft" account I use to log into Win 8 laptop.
With that, if I choose to go with the "local account" can I easily switch back to the Microsoft one?
my computer had been booting up slowly lately so I decided to try to run diagnostic start up to see if that would fix it. When I did and restarted I click my profile and put it my pin. It just makes me select my profile again and put in my pin in a never ending loop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI open the Store, open the charm bar and navigate to settings. I click on the "Your account" option and the sign-in button apears on screen. When I click it, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. I have to close the screen to exit the page.
Furthermore, when I search for an app and click the "install" button for that perticular app, the Store crashes; closing down immediately.
I already ran sfc /scannow but no problems found. I also ran the wsreset.exe but also to no avail.
I tried switching to my MS account, same issue. So am now back on a local account.
It has to do something with the account or a policy that is active on my account I assume ?

View 1 Replies View Relatedjust over a month ago I brought a new Windows 8 Laptop (Toshiba C850) and all was going well - up until about two weeks ago when I started having all sorts of problems...
Basically, I can't log out, restart or shut down my laptop anymore. Obviously this is a real nuisance, and I've been having to manually shut down the laptop by holding the power off button every time, which can't be good.
Every time I go to log out, shut down or restart it (or if updates are installing etc) it just stays on the screen that says what it's doing (signing out, shutting down...). I have tried leaving it for a few hours (6 was the record) but it still did nothing. I did some research and I thought the answer may have been to turn off the fast start-up (which seemed to work for a lot of people) but that didn't work, and now I'm at a loss.
I would completely reset Windows 8 but I imagine that a restart is necessary for that? In which case I couldn't do it. I'm not sure if this is a Windows 8 problem or a Toshiba problem.
I have a Lenovo G580 and i have been getting BSOD DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION when i sign out. I am now stuck in a guest account.

I can enter my password, sign in, and then it tries to load the start menu but the screen starts flashing and after about 8 seconds, it goes back to the sign in menu. Now I am stuck in this process and cant get back past the sign in screen to access the control panel and set the screen back to landscape.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running win 8.1 on HP laptop. When I first turn on the unit, the first to appear on the screen is a sports team logo that I put there a while back. However, to be able to continue to the sign-in page, I have to either move the mouse or click enter to get there. Once I enter my password, it takes me to the Start menu. I want to eliminate the first screen and go directly to sign in and then to desktop.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy friends were playing around with my old laptop which was an Acer aspire v5 with a core i3 by trying to guess my pin. No matter how many times they tried, it wouldn't lock or anything. I got that laptop replaced because it was malfunctioning. The replacement was practically the same model but with a core i5. Again, a friend tried to guess my pin but after a lot of tries, the pin entry box disappeared and got replaced by a password entry box.
I forgot my password because I rely too much on my pin which is shorter and easier to remember and the "sign-in options" button disappeared so I can't log in with my pin. I also can't log-in using my Microsoft account password which I changed. I'm pretty sure this isn't because of the model change. Oh and another detail is that my old laptop's OS was windows 8 when my friends played with it while my new one's OS is windows 8.1. I have really important files there and it's new so I haven't had time to back-up.
Whenever I make a new user account I get:
"The Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded."
I've tried going into regedit and altering the user account, however there is not an S-1-5 entry associated with it. This happens every time I create a new user. My admin and other user account work fine.
