I would like to change the windows edition in the system information of windows 8.1 Pro

I would like it to read something custom of my choosing., I hear there is also another place that this is displayed
My computer had 4GB of RAM and an Intel G2030 processor. It worked fine for my needs, but I'm a compulsive tinkerer. I have upgraded to 12GB of RAM (supposed to be 16, but one module of the 16GB kit I purchased was DOA) and to an Intel i5-3550S processor. These were done in two separate installs, and the computer seems to be running fine, as far as I can tell.
My problem is that the System Information screen doesn't seem to be updated with the new processor. It shows the RAM (11.9GB), but still shows the 2-core G2030 processor. When I go to the BIOS, however, it shows the i5-3550S. Is there something I need to do to get this to update? I'd like to be sure that the computer recognizes the new processor...
I am extremely new to Windows 8. I was handed over a work computer today that runs Windows 8, the previous employee set everything up using her personal email information (IE: the email from the main email envelope is her email, and the calendar feature would add details to her personal calendar not the one for work). She is not set up as a user on the computer at all, but her personal details are linked into the system.
I have searched the documents everywhere and have gone through settings for the two applications trying to work out how to remove her personal information from the system and replace it with the work information. She doesn't need to see the new schedules or the times that our employees will be out on different jobs.
Is there a way for me to go in and remove her personal information and replace it with the information for the company? I could sit and question her ethic as an employee for hours as to why she would do it this way, but honestly if her ethic was great, I wouldn't be taking this over at this point. I just need to ensure that the computer is set up for the business not for someone's personal email and calendar and ensure she isn't getting notifications of our future work schedules.
My OS edition from system panel disappear and I don"t know how to fix that.

I don't know how it works, it happen when my System is under Automatic Maintenance (in Windows 8). I want to save my disk space. I have check my disk using CHKDSK. i found error, and fix that. I check again, and found no Problems.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been noticing recently, my C drive gets occupied fully even if there are no bigger programs installed.
Out of 150gb, after uninstalling few programs, the space left was 30gb. Day by day it started decreasing and i saw 20gb today.
I used the disk cleanup tool and it shows only 100mb after selecting all fields.
I was worried still that space was not freeing and ran this program WinDirStat. Here are the screenshots.
System Volume information folder occupies 75% of space - meaning 100gb.
There are lot of files which were around 1gb - 2gb and they are created from 2013.
why 100 gb? I read that this service is important but why is it taking this much of space.. remove these unwanted older files if any.
I tried below options after googling and also searching in this forum:
Used disk clean up tool and selected more options > system restore and shadow copies > deleteDisabling and Enabling System restoreDeleting shadow copies through VSSAdmin Delete Shadows commandVirus scan in System Volume Information folder (after taking ownership of that folder) through Kaspersky and ESET SSManual delete of the files.Selecting delete option in System Protection > ConfigureChanging maximum usage to some x%
I have tried all these methods but still those files are existing.
I got this msg tryng to refresh my pc . because my vaio gate app wasnt working right . so after the restar i just got the blue screen with this error the boot configutating data file dosent have valid infomation of an operating system.
Error code 0xc000098 /BCD

I recently download Windows 8 ISO image. and i have extracted it with win rar. i have lost ISO image. and i want to make ISO bootalbe image. but whenever i add this folder to power ISO, it says none_ bootable image. how can i add boot information even i don't have boot information for windows 8.

Now my system drive is Y instead of C , because in the old system that partition was Y. I am running Windows 8 which came pre installed with my hp notebook, but all I see in system properties is "Windows 8" and I typed "winver" into run and all I see is "Windows 8" and nothing about an edition
I need to know this because I am getting an SSD and will need to make a Windows DVD so I can do a clean install onto it.
I've got windows 8 and I think it's the home edition. now, will this thing burn DVDs on it? I know I can record CDs with it, but I can't find information about burning DVDs, even in this windows 8 for dummies book.
View 9 Replies View RelatedInstalled 8.1 about a week ago and I'm fairly happy with it so far (after removing charms, going straight to desktop etc) however I have a few minor problems.
Firstly my windows keyboard shortcut key is not working (Logitech G15)
Secondly in power options there are no plans that I can change, if for example I try to create a power plan I get the message "Your power plan information is not available". Tried sfc etc but no problems are detected.
Finally it just seems slower in some respects vs win 7 x64 ultimate, especially booting up. SSDs are all trimmed and aligned and all drivers are installed.
I just bought a new SSD and did a fresh install of windows going from Windows 7 to 8.1.
I simply took out my old SSD and put in the new one, and installed windows 8.1 pro from a USB stick onto the new ssd.
2 existing HDDs were left on there, I'm also replacing them but I want to format them first to remove all data.
Disk 1 is the new SSD that windows was installed on. It is "Healthy (Boot, Page File, Active, Crash Drump, Primary Partition)"
Disk 2 is the drive I want to reformat and replace, it is "Health (System, Primary Partition)"
How do I make the C drive (Disk 1) the System disk?
I have backed up all the files I want to keep onto an external hdd.
I have to run a few programs only available on linux.
As seen on almost all the sources I visited, I installed VirtualBox and downloaded the last Ubuntu "iso" file. after having installed the new OS on virtualbox, I tried launching it and got the very often found "VT-x is disabled in the BIOS" error.
The solution also given in all the sources I visited is "enable Hyper-V" in the "windows features turn on or off" menu. Problem is : I can't find this option (I even looked in the least probable sub directories, just in case)
I found out this feature was only available for "Pro" versions of windows 8/8.1.
My question is : Is it feasible for me to run a virtual machine, or even run a machine on dual boot on my default-installed-windows 8 machine? I don't have the money to buy the pro package (which, for some reason, is MUCH more expensive than the "previous windows to 8.1 pro" update).
My hardware is more than sufficient: 64bits i7-4700HQ processor, 8Gb RAM DDR3l
I've got a problem with Windows 8.1 Single Language Edition 64-bit (English/Russian/Ukrainian).
When Windows 8 updated to 8.1 last year through the Store, I lost the ability to Restore and Refresh (a feature I had used several times previously).
Since then I have been using the same installation of 8.1, and it has finally become too laggy and bloated and I need desperately to Restore (files are all backed up and removed from computer, ready for Restore).
Things I have tried already:
- Found my Product Key using a keyfind program. My version of 8.1 came preintalled on the laptop, no DVD case, or e-mails with Key.
- Made a recovery USB Flash Drive (my laptop doesn't have a DVD drive). Recovery drive works when I boot from BIOS, but says it is invalid when I try to Restore.
- Tried to download an official ISO file from Microsoft, but the site says my Product Key is invalid (its not invalid).
- Tried using the Enterprise Trial ISO to Restore, and am now stuck with an expired trial copy of Enterprise.
I still have the Recovery Partition, and didn't delete it when I made the Recovery USB.
My computer is an ASUS Zenbook prime UX31A. All I want is to Restore. Even if its back to Win 8. I do not understand why all options seem to be broken since the update to 8.1. It seems intentional.
I want to Restore legitimately, and use the product I bought legitimately. But if this continues I may have to seek "alternatives".
I tried the guide for activation backup but on reinstall the WMC is missing, so the restore of the activation status fails. Even it seems impossible to integrate the Media Center into the upgrade due to the encrypted install.esd file.
A fresh install via retail iso also failed with the "core" message (wrong version?) giving a slui code afterwards. How to manage to keep the activation intact using the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade?
Is there any crack/patch/activation for ALL edition of windows 8 that it is combatibles with all languages like greek?
If there is were we can find that crack/patch/activation?
I can't seem to figure out WHERE W8 stores the System Restore Points that I create so I created a 500GB Partition on an External HDD that I would like to use to save System Restore files and my question is WHERE in W8 can I CHANGE the location for System Restore?

1. Delete or move the partition. if i do that will the recovery work.
2. Burn the factory image and delete the partition. but your backup software is not working for me to backup the image.

It just slows my computer up and hasn't fried anything yet, However i was able to download AVG and stop any major issues from occurring. Now I am trying to delete said "free" antivirus, yet i keep getting this message. "Need permission from SYSTEM to make any changes to this file." I have no idea what that means especially considering I am the SYSTEM as far as I am concerned with this computer. Somehow my firewall and antivirus had been disabled months ago and I know I didn't do it. This was a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I have been fighting to keep my computer alive.

This is so Windows works like it did with Vista & 7 (ie. Elevation with zero restrictions.)
I have a VHDX which I sometimes boot from and sometimes use as a VM in Hyper V. It has Windows installed on the default C: drive.
This is somewhat confusing as the C: may be the original C: drive or the VHDX C: drive (with the original C: drive renamed to H: in my case). I want C: to always be the native boot and T: (for example) to always be the boot for the VHDX.
Can I change the VHDX to have Windows installed to say T:? I was thinking of renaming all instances of C: to T: in the registry and updating BCDEDIT. It is not possible to change system disk in disk management.
If this is not possible can I re-install windows on the VHDX and specify a different letter and C:?

While creating custom system image, I accidently registers the custom system image as default image when refreshing Windows 8 instead the OEM one. So, how do I unregister the custom system image and make the OEM system image as the default one?
