I've recently upgraded to windows 8.1 and I noticed it has reverted all my language changes back to Chinese (Hong Kong). After redownloading and setting all the primary languages back to English in the control Panel I've realized that everything (even the login screen) is in English EXCEPT for some options in metro, how would you fully change this?

First off, when I type in Korean and Japanese using the appropriate Korean/Japanese IMEs, the language bar is autoset to Half_width alphanumeric. I want to remove all options except for Hiragana and Full-Width Katakana and set it so that when I change my language to Japanese it automatically sets to Hiragana. Similarly with Korean how do I remove the alphanumeric and leave only the korean language option? Secondly, is there a button is can use to fluidly tag between language options within an language? So for instance, if I'm in Japanese is there a combination of buttons to press such that I can change between Hiragana and Full-Width Katakana?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Asus N56VJ with Windows 8 pre-installed. At first I was trying to downgrade to Windows 7, but could not get past the windows splash screen trying to do a clean install . Anyway, while I was trying to figure out how to install windows 7, I was messing around in the bios. I decided to just stick with the Windows 8, but my bios is screwed up. I do not have any boot configuration options anymore. I tried to flash my bios, but the bios was still the same. I did a full reset on my machine, and still no change in the bios. Is there any way to get my bios options back to the factory settings with all the options?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI went into my power options to change some of the advanced settings and most of them are missing? I am on windows 8.1 with a week old Surface Pro 3. I want to say I read somewhere that hyper-v can cause options to be missing, but I honestly don't even know what that is and I don't have it installed.

IE Metro tile is missing from my metro start screen. It's not in the 'all apps' list either. when I go to program default, it is set as the default browser. I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have the metro version tile on my start.

But it doesn't seem to work correctly it doesn't appear when windows starts it only appears if you change language with keyboard short cut (for example shift+alt or shift+ctrl you can change that in settings).
I have set 3 input languages so it should be there and I need to use it.. windows default language preference select menu works but language bar doesn't.
The name of the apps in the metro are in different language than English so how can I change the language? and also when I click right click on the desktop I see the options in English in addition to another language so how can I change it to be all in English?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that when I go to the Power Options that the options are missing. It says the Power Plan is missing or unavailable or something such. One answer said to do a refresh or reset of Windows 8. Isn't that a bit drastic? Is there no way to do it by tweaks. I did that refresh once and lost more than I thought I was supposed to.

I have tried to install and then uninstall the English keyboard layout (so that Swedish is the only one available) but Windows doesn't care if the layout is actually installed or not. Here is a screenshot:

Windows changes this setting on a whim, it seems to happen the most when starting up the computer. I had this problem with Windows 8 as well.
One day I go to shutdown/hibernate/sleep button and a pop up says "no power options available". I can still preform these options but I have to go through signing out first then picking. How do I change this? Oh, and no, I didn't add or upgrade, etc. anything lately.

This seems heavily related to my mouse - SteelSeries - World of Warcraft : Cataclysm? MMO Gaming Mouse / the control panel for that mouse as it only started happening after installing this mouse (both home and work pc).
I have tried to add English (US) >> Set it as Primary >> Then remove English (US).
Doing this removes the English (US) keyboard completely which is what I want/expect but then it comes back again after a short while?
Is it possible to change the English (US) keys to match that of the English (UK) so even if it does change to English (US) it wouldn't be a problem anyway?
Using Windows 8.1. If I have a notepad, say Untitled 1, already open in Windows, then how can I open a fresh Notepad?
Every time I am clicking on Notepad.exe, the same Untitled option is opening.
I have just started using Windows 8 and like it very much. I do have one very small problem.I have dual language, English and Hebrew. When the program initiates the language selection comes up in Hebrew. I would prefer it to initialize in English. I haven't been able to determine if this can be changed. View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows 8 on my ASUS laptop and all of a sudden it has started opening all folders in a new window... every time without fail... even though the folder options are showing "Open in same window" selected.
For the record, I did try unselecting and then reselecting the same window option, applied it to all folders, rebooted my system... and nothing. Everything still opens in a new window every time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed windows 8 on a desktop computer that had windows 7 before. Screensaver was working perfectly on windows 7. Since windows 8, the screensaver won't start, the display won't turn off after 15 minutes like I set it up in power options. Just to test, I removed all USB devices that could prevent the screensaver to start. I closed all the programs running in the taskbar, including those hidden. The screensaver won't start even if I set it to one minute.
Pressing the preview screensaver button works. But letting it go by itself doesn't.
I installed windows 8.1 pro preview successfully in English, and since I use French very often, I installed and changed the display language into French. I also checked two options concerning the welcome screen and account users to display them all in French and worked perfectly.
I noticed the watermark before changing the display language into French, then followed this method to remove it : How to Remove Windows 8.1 Preview Watermark | MyTechBlog the method worked fine, but when I changed into French the watermark turned out again, then repeated the same method until I removed it.
when I finished I noticed that "My Computer" which appears as "This PC" + "Control Panel" + when I open Control Panel everything appear in English. but my display language now is French except the aforesaid.

I maked Windows 8.0 Single Language EN-US ISOs (x86 and x64) from RU-RU ISOs (I removed Russian and added English).
When I try to install it in VMware Workstation (I tried x86, then I tried x64), on a half installation on both installations it says error: Windows could not see the offline locale information. Error code: 0x80000001.
I not maked any mistakes while making ISOs.
