I use the windows trouble shooting aps and can eventually get pictures to show. If computer is turned off or restarted I again have to run trouble shooters. This is not always successful!
View 3 RepliesDownload from a site, like a picture or media file (music, etc.), it downloads it fully, but it still says it is still downloading even when you can see the current state such as 40.7MB out of 40.7MB completed only certain sites do this, but others don't So something is off here, and since I got this from FB and another site or more, Firefox might be having a bug issue. I tried a resetting Firefox, but it didn't do anything. Another issue that might be Firefox-related is Youtube. In this case, the viewing history doesn't show any videos. I thought it was a site issue. It could be, but it's still the case now. Since I mentioned one issue, might as well mention this one too.

The problem here is that it works well when i view it using google chrome but it shows only one frame i.e no animation in windows picture and fax viewer. I remember it was working well in my old PC which run XP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm mainly using WMC when I'm watching something. I have installed a few codec packs so most of the time it works fine.
I've got an episode of Naruto that suddenly didn't show the subtitles, though. (I've watch about 300 episodes of Naruto before this one and they all showed subtitles properly.)
At first I thought there was something wrong with the episode, so I opened it in Windows Media Player Classic (using CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack- which is the greatest thing since VLC) and it worked fine, showing subtitles with no problem. (However, the subtitles looked different, so I'm guessing there's another translator or something involved.)
So why doesn't WMC show subtitles when MPC does?
It's an .avi -file, and the subtitle is "built-in", so there's no extra file or anything.
EDIT: I tried with another Naruto Episode, which is in .mp4 format, and the subtitle works in both WMC and MPC. I still want my WMC to be able to play all files and subtitles, though.
When I right-click on any tiles it doesnt show the right click option like to change the tiles size, remove the tiles and such.. It just show the "tick icon" on it but no menu option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Laptop with a 120GB Solid State Drive. My primary operating system has been Windows 7 Ultimate. Recently I decided to try and Install Windows 8 Pro Along side windows 7 . Dual Boot. I read about Dual Booting in this Official Windows 8 Magazine and it seemed easy. I ran into a few problems:
1. I was able to 'shrink Volume' to create another partition of atleast the 20GB minimum required for windows 8. I did 25GB's because my 120gb solid state drive was almost full with other windows 7 files and partitions. The problem I ran into was in creating a 'New Simple Volume' and formatting my new 25GB's of space. An Error message saying "not enough memory or space available to perform operation" kept popping up.
Am I getting these error messages because I already have 4 different partitions on my drive? The different partitions were A: Windows 7 OS and Files, B: Windows 7 Hibernation, C: Windows 7 Recovery and D: an unknown 8gb primary partition
2. I decided to delete the Windows 7 Recovery partition, because I have my Windows 7 DVD, and I didn't mind re-installing everything if I were to mess up. Plus my OS doesn't run from that partition, and I'll have room to create my new Windows 8 simple volume. (probably a dumb decision)
3. Disk management didn't want to delete my Recovery partition (probably for good reason) and merge it's free space with my 25GB' partition that I had previously created and was unable to create the New simple volume in. I had to use a 3rd party program called Paragon Partition Manager free edition to do this. I had to restart my laptop for Paragon to delete the 2GB recovery partiton and merge the space with my un-formatted 25GB partition. After the Paragon program finished, my laptop wouldn't boot windows 7 and just hung up with an Intel boot agent screen.
4. Luckily, I had already made my Windows 8 bootable flash drive to Install the OS. Since Windows 7 wasn't booting, I decided to go ahead and try to install windows 8 with my flash drive. It worked! I found my 27GB partition in the setup menu, was able to format it, and install Windows 8. Now windows 8 starts up! My other partition with windows 7 also shows up in Disk management and In my computer!.
5. My biggest question is, How can I make that Windows 8 Dual boot screen pop up when I turn on my laptop? I can boot into windows 7 if I go to Disk Management in Windows 8, Right click my windows 7 partition, and click "Make Active partition". I then hit restart, and my laptop boots to Windows 7 no problem. I Can boot into windows 8 by doing the same Thing in Disk Management in Windows 7. "Make Active Partition" and restart Pc. So in a sense, I have what I want; Windows 7 and Windows 8. But, I shouldn't have to go into Disk Management each time I want to change the system Im using. how to get the Windows 8 Dual Boot option at startup?
I unlocked my AMD Phenom II X2 CPU to 4 core, but the Windows not show it. The Task Manager not show it and CPU-Z show only 2 cores. But the Device manager and a BIOS shows all the 4 cores.
I found this solution for the problem, but it is not working. When I do these steps the Windows restarts, but nothing happens. Maybe because I use a Windows 8 and a never version of EasyBCD.
What can I do for working 4 cores?
I hate it when I double click a file and Windows 8.1 pops up a message saying I have other apps that can handle this extension.

I hate Windows 8 so much! Even with a start menu replacement, this ticks me off, it's crappy Wireless LAN manager sucks, its performance is less when I benchmarks my SSD
I can go back to 7, but I am trying to fix a few things if I could just to benefit from the UEFI boot mode as for installing 7, I have to enable legacy ROM which is much slower during boot.
My fully updated Windows 8.1 notebook suddenly will not show any wifi connections when I click on the icon in the system tray (it shows "No Connections are Available", although it is connected, and I can surf and browse normally).
To connect to a new network, I have to manually enter the details of the network, and then it connects. This is something new, since previously it would show all the available networks, and allow me to make a selection (which is normal). What setting could have flipped do enable the above situation?
i installed win7 on my SSD (like 22gb drive) in my asus today. Now, under my computer, it shows nothing but the SSD. it doesn't show my 500gb hard drive.. Im pretty sure its because of something i didnt do in the setup. What should i do to get it to show up? i really really really don't wanna re install windows because i got all the drivers and installed programs..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've an issue with my Windows 8.1 Mail app: I've organized in folders almost all of the emails I regularly receive, but I can see notifications only for those miscellaneous emails which are not organized in any of my folder (so, they simply appear in the Inbox). I followed every single tutorial for similar issues, but any of them worked; and yes, I've selected to show notifications for every email in the Account options of the Mail app, but nothing changes.

I have Win 8.1 with WLM build 16.4.3508.0205. Before I (upgraded) to Win 8.1, I could send pictures in an e-mail as an attachment. Now when I do that it adds them to an album and the recipients has to down load them from SkyDive. Is there any way to keep the pictures in the e-mail? I don't use SkyDive.

I select a photo, right click it & choose: 'Send to'>'Mail recipient', an 'Attach files' dialog box opens, I choose the picture size I want & click 'Attach', another box opens captioned 'Email Client selection', I select 'Use System Default'>OK. Mail opens up.
The heading of the email folder reads: Emailing: (Caption/Title of the photo) in blue colouring. No copy of picture selected. I send it to myself. It comes back in the 'Inbox' with the same sentence in blue, (but still no picture). I try to click on the blue caption. Nothing. I highlight it, it only gives me the privilege of Copying the caption. How do I send a photo from Pictures in the File Explorer?
I'm wondering if this is true or not, I use hotmail/outlook email, and alot of spam emails have images, and I've heard a sender can get your ip just by you opening their messages.

I used to have folders full of emails in Outlook; the folders are still there, but none of the emails are in them. Normally, she clicks on the "Mail" icon to get to her email, but now when she clicks on the icon it doesn't go to her email and instead it goes straight to her desktop. I tried clicking another icon; the "weather" one, and it too goes to the desktop. She told me she downloaded a couple games from iWin a few days ago and I noticed a new toolbar in her browser so I tried disabling that, but no change. I've checked what the default browser is, Internet Explorer (what she normally uses). I also tried making Chrome the default browser but still no change.

Although IE11 on desktop snaps open, and Google shows up OK, searches for simple things like Zone Alarm or Avast anti-virus say can't be connected despite trouble shooter saying the net is configured OK. In fact no searches seem to work through Google.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows 8.1. I built a new computer yesterday, and installed Windows 8.1. I had previously run Windows 7 on my older computer.
Everything was working great, till today I decided to move my documents, pictures, music, and video folders to a different drive. I succeeded fine with documents, music, and video, however pictures seem to be a little messed up.

At the top, you will see it lists folders for music twice, both folders show my music files in them. I realize these are probably just pointers to the music folder, but now I have music twice, and pictures is not up there.
However, when I check to show libraries in the navigation pane, you will on the same screen shot, it does list documents, music, pictures, and video there as it should.
How I can get those folders back up at the top as they should be?
I'm trying to print images/pictures using windows photo viewer and I get this error "Your pictures can't be printed because this error occurred".... It doesn't tell me which error.. simply just says that in the dialog box. THe dialog box comes out like 4 times with the same message and I have to click OK.
I've already tried googling it and the only fix I can find is replacing photowiz and I already did but it has fixed. I've also installed Photo Gallery and it stil lgives me the same error when I try to print and picture. I've also reinstalled all my printer drivers...

Win 8.1 will now allow me to change my Account or Lock Screen picture. When I attempt to do either, I see the "waiting" animation (little dots circling). Sometimes an error will report that it cannot change the picture.Created another account on my laptop (Inspiron 15 Notebook 3521) to determine if the problem was only associated with my primary (Admin rights) account. Unfortunately the issue exists with this new account, too.

The Photos app on my Windows 8.1 Pro PC won't show any pictures either in the Pictures Library or in OneDrive. It only can display folders but not pictures. In other Windows Store apps, another weird things happens. The photos show up but with no thumbnails. I tried a reformat and reinstall and the problem disappeared. That is until I signed in my Microsoft account. The problem comes back.
NOTE: I'm using Hotspot Shield because an error appears every time I install Windows updates or Windows Store apps. I use Hotspot Shield to bypass this error but even disabling it doesn't solve the problem.
