I'm mainly using WMC when I'm watching something. I have installed a few codec packs so most of the time it works fine.
I've got an episode of Naruto that suddenly didn't show the subtitles, though. (I've watch about 300 episodes of Naruto before this one and they all showed subtitles properly.)
At first I thought there was something wrong with the episode, so I opened it in Windows Media Player Classic (using CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack- which is the greatest thing since VLC) and it worked fine, showing subtitles with no problem. (However, the subtitles looked different, so I'm guessing there's another translator or something involved.)
So why doesn't WMC show subtitles when MPC does?
It's an .avi -file, and the subtitle is "built-in", so there's no extra file or anything.
EDIT: I tried with another Naruto Episode, which is in .mp4 format, and the subtitle works in both WMC and MPC. I still want my WMC to be able to play all files and subtitles, though.
When I run winsat formal -reset -v from an elevated powershell or cmd window, it completes in less than a second and produces no xml files. I have tried without success:
1. Clean boot 2. Safe boot 3. Updated video driver 4. Uninstalled all codecs with autoruns
I think the problem might be related to failure to run the NT Kernel Logger but I don't know what process could be tying it up. I have attached the winsat log.
I have been trying to get WMC to stay-on-top but to date I have not been able to figure it out. I have looked all over the application. The research I have done tell me to do the follow within WMC;
Select: Tasks / Settings / General / Startup and Window Behavior
At this location I should see the option to "Stay on Top" but the only options available are;
1) Show a warning before displaying Web pages that are not designed for WMC 2) Show taskbar notifications
When I select about in WMC the following info is displayed;
Windows 8 version 6.2.9.00.16384 with Windows Media Center Technologies
I haven't installed Windows Media Center yet but yes I got the free key etc. I'm in the process of getting a new PC and then I will install but in the meantime I would like to burn to a DVD. How can I do this?
I upgrade with windows anytime upgrade windows 8.1 to 8.1 pro with media center. I use key JK7QT.But key not working. Phone activation system says the installation id is not verified. I try disable sound driver and calling again.
I enter new installation id. But says again the instalation id is not verified. Need new key windows 8.1 pro wmc for activation with phone. Or there is no new key?
Maybe upgrade with dvd to enterprise version?Laptop new asus x550c factory pre installed windows 8.1. Need leave this windows version.
So I have a Windows 8 Pro machine with Media Center (legit key for both) that I'm running as a gaming and multimedia machine.
I want to update to the RTM of 8.1 now. Where do I start? I want to preserve all settings and data, and avoid complete reinstallation if at all possible.
Every time I try to play any DVD in Windows Media Center, I get this error:
"CANNOT PLAY DVD : The DVD may be in use by another application. If all other applications are closed, the video resolution may need to be lowered or the display connection type may not support playback of the DVD."
I know the issue is not with my physical DVD drive because of the following reasons: I am presently dual-booting XP Pro SP3 and Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. The former can play DVDs just fine. VLC Player on Windows 8 can also play DVDs just fine.
I'm curious if there's any way to get this to work on Windows Media Center on Windows 8, then, because I paid for the upgrade from Pro to Pro with Media Center, after all.
My WMC has been working just fine since it was released for Windows 8. I opened the programme today to check tv programmes only to find that "Viewing or Listening Conflict - No tuner available to satisfy the current request".
I have a TV Tuner card : AVerMedia H751 Hybrid Analog/DVB-T with the latest and only drivers installed. by visiting AVer Media website.
When I did a compatibility test for Windows 8 there was no conflict, hence I've been viewing TV with WMC until today.
What happened today, nothing that I know of. Windows update yesterday, so I did a system restore, no such luck it made no difference.
My system is Wndows 8 Pro with Media Centre Intel Core i5 CPU 320GHz 8Gb RAM 64 bit OS
My husband's computer is on the same line for TV and his WMC is working just fine so it's not the connections from the wall unit to PC.
At the moment I dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 8. I have just added Media Centre to 8 (yes I've got my key = 10days) and all went smoothly . . . until the dreaded alert 'TV Tuner not Detected' !! Of course it works perfectly on the Win7 partition, but is there any way for it to be recognized in the Windows 8 Partition? Or is the only way to eventually lose my Windows 7 and rely totally on Windows 8. Presumably the TV Tuner Card would then be detected. TV Tuner card is AVerMedia A336 MiniCard Hybrid DVB-T and driver up to date.
I've just brought a new pc with windows 8 core preinstalled as with all new pc's it has to do all its updates but for some reason on one of them it restarted and booted up in windows 8 pro with media center.I really do not want this and would like to return to windows 8 core without having to copy off all my files or purchasing a new copy of windows 8 as I have just spent a lot of money on this new pc.
I have Windows 8 Enterprise, yes,a legal copy from where I work. It does not come with Media Center, NOR can you use the method to "Add features" as it does not work on the Enterprise version. I have a valid Windows Media Center key from Microsoft but, there is no place to enter it.
Any work-around to get Media Center working on Windows 8 Enterprise ?
I recently purchased a new computer with Windows 8 pre-installed. I purchased a Media Center key and all was well. I had to reinstall the operating system using a system restore disk and upgraded to Windows 8.1. When I try the Media Centre key again it says it won't work.
my PC will not let me turn on secure boot because of m video card gtx660t1 and now i get this Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center SecureBoot isn't configured correctly how do i remove it?
I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 pro and activated it.After that i upgarded to windows media center pack.Now my OS is Windows 8.1 pro with Media center,But Bitlocker is missing from the control panel,i can't find it anywhere.
I'm trying to reinstall win8 Pro w/ Media Center on an older Dell C2D system for a friend. She has no discs as she got it from her brother for x-mas a little while back and she's unable to get them as he lives out of state.
I used a program to extract the keys, but it seems that the media center add-on has overridden the pro key and it wont let me install windows. I noticed it gave me an internet explorer key that was different from the win8 key, but it rejected that too.
Is there a way to extract the original win8 pro key? I couldn't seem to find anything with google.
I'm not sure if it's related to the fact that I just installed Windows Media Center but whenever I try to open a Library folder like Video or Music I get this error.
If I manually go to C:Users[username]Videos it opens the folder just fine.
I've got some dvd's that have multiple titles on one disk. On Windows Media Player on win 7 I used to be able to get to a list that showed the Titles on the disk, and let me select the one I wanted. How is this done in Windows Media Center?
I've had my laptop for about a month now and when I first got it I did something (and I don't remember what at the moment) that said I needed to add the media center pack. Anyway, whatever I did said I needed to get a license key for the media pack. Well, Microsoft just emailed me my key today but I don't really know what to do with it. How do I go about installing the media pack so I can enter the key?
I have attempted to create a Windows 8.1 with Media Center x64 but having no luck. I have tried various WIM's and keep running into problems. Any success creating one?
Now that Windows 8 cannot be permanent activated with Windows Media Center Key and only KMS working for 180 days, tested this today so this is true only kms 180 days works. So is there any solution any other alternative for permanent activation of Windows 8 and 1 can install all Microsoft updates after permanent activation ....
For Windows 8 core and pro RTM and for Windows 8 Enterprise volume edition MSDN iso ....
I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 x64. Now I cant seem to add any features to it. I want to add Media Centre but the "Add features" utility tells me that I cannot add features to Windows 8.1. Please look at the screenshot-:
But my Windows 8.1 is a genuine copy and is activated. Have a look at the next screenshot -:
I had to recently refresh Windows 8.1 so I had to go re-download AMD Catalyst Control Center. When I did this, I opened it up and there is only around two category settings which are "Performance" and "Power" and this is with "Advance settings" turned on. I use to have around 7 categories of settings to mess around with. If I recall, one was called "VGA Display Settings" and it let me position my screen, which I direly need.
I have upgraded my system from windows 7 to windows 8 through digital delivery (no dvd). later it was upgraded to 8.1 pro now its in 8.1 pro with media center. Now i want to do a clean install of windows 8.1 pro with media center but i have no media, i have only windows 8 purchase product key and current product id.
