Shift Select Key No Longer Working
Oct 22, 2013I have Windows 8 and suddenly my shift select doesn't work. I can no longer select a group of files Control select works but not shift select. What do I need to do to correct this?

Mar 10, 2014I have a keyboard error that is really putting a hamper on my work right now. this started yesterday, but i can't recall when exactly it started happening.
I have a steel series apex keyboard and windows 8 64-bit
When I press either of these four keys, it shows me on my keyboard settings software and on the on-screen keyboard from windows 8 - that all four are being pressed simultaneously
= left-shift, left-ctrl, right-shift, right-ctrl.
It doesn't matter which of the four i press - all four are treated like they're being pressed down. Also if i press alt, it thinks both alts are being pressed. I have tried:
unplugging, plugging back in
restarting my computer
putting keyboard settings to default
uninstalling and reinstalling all keyboard drivers/software
scanning/fixing registry errors
Also I've tried three different keyboards, a logitech g15, and a standard dell keyboard; they all do produce the same error.
Windows 8 Library Is No Longer Working
Apr 24, 2013My computer is a bit like the car; turn either of them on, and expect it to do its 'thing' but when it doesn't.... stuck!
My windows 8 library is not working...
Anyway, I've researched how to delete and then reinstall/program. What I cannot understand is why this library facility has so many awful reviews on the forum, who are slatting this facility and how it eventually clogs up memory with duplicated files.
there are many attempting to disable or totally eradicate it from the computer There is a "registry hack" website for windows 7, which disables the library.
Windows 8.1 Search No Longer Working
Oct 19, 2013I dont't have to reinstall all my system because the snappy search that i loved so much in windows 8 does not longer works, it takes ages now (already disabled internet search).
Is there some tweak to restore the "search" efficiency ?
EuP Function Is No Longer Working Under Windows 8.1
Dec 28, 2013I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7 and noticed my USB 3 WD Passport external hard drive stays powered on as well as my round LED's (Lock/Start/Reset). With Windows 7 I just enabled EuP in the bios and that powered everything down when I shut down including the LED's. Now with Windows 8.1 that function doesn't work. They all stay on. I tried disabling all the power functions in Power Management for the USB but still, the power stays on. For some reason the EuP enable function does not work like before. I believe its related to Windows 8.1 since it worked fine with Windows 7. For some reason they locked USB power after shutdown.
PS: I already tried resetting the bios to no effect.
Text Only - Print Driver No Longer Working?
Aug 25, 2014For many years, I've used the Generic / Text Only virtual printer driver to convert Web pages and other files to plain text with minimal formatting, but the last time I used it, the resulting file was peppered with unnecessary spaces, making it close to indecipherable when viewed in a text editor. Has some recent update changed the way this driver works (or, in my case, doesn't work)?
I've attached two files to illustrate the problem: filler.html contains a few paragraphs of boilerplate text, and filler.prn is the result I get from loading filler.html into Firefox and printing it to the Text Only "printer". (Both files were renamed to filler.*.txt to conform to this forum's limitations for uploaded files.) Note that the output file is more than ten times the size of the input file; if you examine it with a hex editor, you'll see that the increased size of the output is due to many sequences of a carriage return (without a linefeed) and several spaces being unnecessarily inserted in the output stream every few characters.
I imagine if this were sent to a 1970s-era printer, the defects in the output would be invisible on the page, but since the whole point of the Text Only driver is to bypass any physical printer, I don't understand this change in behavior. Is there any way to prevent this and get back to the output I'm used to?
MS Library Is No Longer Working / All Files Won't Open

Jun 12, 2014When I installed my copy of windows 8 using a dvd, It installed a recovery partition during the installation. This partition allowed me to do things such as create a recovery drive, and use startup repair, all without needing to insert an installation disk. For some reason, this recovery partition is no longer working. I can't create a recovery drive without being told to insert installation media, and there are no troubleshooting settings when I launch "advanced startup". I noticed this after I deleted all of the bcd bootloader entries in easybcd, and tried to create a recovery drive. I don't know if deleting those entries could have affected windows but I think it might have something to do with it.
The recovery partition is still there, and the files in it are still there.
Cannot Get Into Documents And Pictures Folder - Library No Longer Working
Jan 17, 2013I can't get into my Documents folder. Every time I go to get into it, this little pop up message come up.
It tells me:
" "Documents.library-ms" is no longer working. This library can be safely deleted from your computer. Folders that have been included will not be affected."
I have also include an image of the message.
It also happens when I try to get into my Pictures folder. Just lays "Pictures.library-ms" etc etc etc comes up.
Hardware Drivers :: Win 8 Update - Audio Devices No Longer Working
Dec 15, 2013I recently switched my pc from 2 AMD cards to 2 Nvidia cards, when i was preparing to install the 2 cards, i shut down my computer, during the shutdown it asked me to update and shutdown win 8 which i did. ever since i did that my audio devices are not detecting.. nothing i do is working.
When i use my plug and play speakers, they are not recognized... let me rephrase.. in the playback devices menu they show up as "Speakers" as they always have, then quickly disappear, then show up again, then disappear again, then back and forth over and over and over again..... i tried uninstalling my audio drivers and reinstalling. this did not work. i can get sound with the speakers, by just pluggin them into my TV, but i cant control the audio or the 5.1 surround from the tv, it just shows them as stereo...

i never had this problem until A) new cards, and B) installed the win 8 update... But i rolled my computer back to a date before that update, and then turned updates off in case that was it..
i've also tried installing drivers directly from realtek, directly from my motherboard website. i've uninstalled and reinstalled, and stopped windows from auto installing during my realtek installs on the drivers...
just cant figure out why it flickers like that, the speakers work fine in other devices (e.g the tv).

Oct 26, 2013Since I have upgraded to 8.1 my remote control no longer works it is detected in device manager and driver is installed but when I click skip,play, stop etc nothing happens. I use it mainly for my music.
Is there a way to get it working again. I use the default music app to play music which I preferred the old version to be honest.
Command Used To Make File System And Hidden File No Longer Working
May 29, 2014The attrib +s +h command that is used to make a file a system and hidden file is no longer working. When i try to use the command on a folder, the folder just shows up as a normal hidden folder which can be easily viewed using show hidden items in view option. It looks as if every system file is not recognizing itself as a system file.
Also every folder in my system has appeared a desktop.ini and thumbs.db folder.
I am running Windows 8- 64 bit

Aug 5, 2014I have a new HP Touchsmart 15t Laptop. It works well except I notice that the shift key can't seem to keep up with me when I let go. For example sometimes when typing I end up with:
The SHift key sometimes won't de-activate fast enough when I want to type the next letter.
I thought maybe it is just a matter of me getting used to the keyboard, but after a month or so the problem still comes up.
I was wondering if there is some program that can alter the response sensitivity of specific keys.

Feb 25, 2014Text "Red Shift" during vertical scrolling? I've noticed it with Firefox 27.0, Pale Moon 24,3,2, and Operax64 12.14. The text on forums looks normal until I move the vertical scrollbar with the mouse. While the text is moving it takes on a red tint. As soon as the scrolling stops, it reverts to normal color. Pretty weird. Only thing I did lately was use a program to calibrate the Gamma.

Program Disappears When Select To Open Existing File
Sep 30, 2013I have a very frustrating issue with Windows 8 where my software disappears when I select to open an existing file from within the parent program. It is not minimized and it is not 'off' the screen. I open task manager, and it doesn't exist as a process in any state. The program is Xilinx's ISE for programming FPGA boards.
Before, I get the obvious response that it is an issue with the ISE gui and not Windows 8, I've had a similar problem in another program in Windows 8 in which when I tried to create a new folder in a select file dialog box to save a file, the program would disappear. (Though, I don't recall which program that was.) It's as the program closes completely! (I'm lovin' Linux even more now.)

Feb 22, 2013I'm trying to import pictures from external device (in this case - android phone with PTP) and in the import dialog I've selected "import settings" and then I'm trying to change "Import images to" location, but when I click on Browse and select the same path I was using on windows 7 (on E: partition) I get error "You cannot import to this folder.
Choose another location" which, frankly, doesn't make much sense. I've tried permissions and so forth and I can easily browse and save picture there, I'm the owner and all that. Why Pictures Importer complains and doesn't allow me to use this location? I don't want to import to %profile%/Pictures because it's small-ish system drive :|
Can't Get Into BIOS - Reboot And Select Proper Device Error
