When i goto the Windows 8 Store to update to 8.1 I cannot find the Update at all
I am not the only one who cannot and would like to update.
Has the update been removed or simply no longer there?
Or am i doing something wrong? I have Windows 8 Pro 32bit
my hp laptop is running 8 pro right now and i cannot find the 8.1 update in store even though all the updates are installed... i have included a screenshot of store.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a fairly new PC running Windows 8 and I can't seem to upgrade to Windows 8.1--There are a bunch of issues-
1. Can't connect to the Windows Store--tried everything here save the refresh, which I do NOT want to do.
2. Downloaded the 8.1 ISO and burned it to a disc--get the error message that 8.1 could not be installed--0x101-0x20017 error--tried installing with a clean boot, turned off antivirus suite, etc
3.sfc /scannow does not work.
So currently I'd like to forget about the store for the moment and continue updating from the downloaded ISO. I really do not wish to restore the computer and I have a lot of software I'd need to reinstall and this would take a long time.
I have refreshed my windows 8, and now trying to install 8.1 I have installed all the recommended updates, but when i open the store an click on the 'Update to Windows 8.1 for free' , nothing happens. the icons gets the click, since it animates, but i don't see any options to download or do anything ? is there an alternative way to install 8.1 over 8.0

1) Your PC needs another update, KB 2871839, After checking for this update and not seeing it I still received the 8.1 update via Windows store anyway & downloading now.
2)Some editions of Windows 8 don't support the free update to Windows 8.1.
I can't update of find any apps in windows store. The store broker, wshost.exe, is taking around 30% cpu usage and will increase easily to 80%.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy company gave me a Windows 8 Enterprise product key, which I'm trying to use to upgrade a version of Windows I'm running. I visited this link -- Upgrade Windows with only a product key - Microsoft Windows Support, clicked the "Install Windows 8" button, ran the setup file that downloaded, and when prompted for the product key, entered it, only to see the message.
The product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8.
Is there another ISO I should be using? Ultimately I'm trying to get an ISO for use with my VMWare Fusion 6 install running on my Mac (10.9.1). I'm confident the product key given to me by my company is legit, but it obviously isn't a retail product key, probably some kind of corporate key or the equivalent.
I get this error: when I try to clean install to a gpt format hdd. Haven't found setup txt yet.
This will be Windows 8 Pro on an HP Pavilion G7-2243us, 500 gb hitachi hdd, and 4 gb memory.
I have an pre-installed Windows 8 in my notebook. When I first got the PC, I got only C:/ partition so I needed D:/ and for doing this I used EaseUS Partition Manager. This is just a guess but I guess Windows can't find those recover partitions that are in my HDD. I haven't deleted those partitions just created D:/ and here is a screenshot I just take to show you the partitions I have.
I have already tried copying the Install.wim from my BIOS_RVY partition which was about 9GB and I moved it to C:/WinRec and used this command as I saw it from internet : reagentc.exe /setosimage /path C:WinRec /target c:Windows /Index 1 But i still get the error:
"Insert media some files are missing. Your Windows installation or recovery medial will provide these files."
This method didn't worked so any other too. I wonder how can I refresh or some sort of return my notebook to the factory settings from the recovery parts I have.
When I tried to reset my laptop, it read "could not find the files needed". mine is an Acer aspire V5, it didn't came with an installation disc or media, i know it should have a hidden partition for recovery, but i think the system is having trouble with it. i think a malware might have done this, i got malware bytes, I tried norton online scan and eset online scan, but did not detect any. before this, i experienced my firefox browser icon on the taskbar progressing a download but cant see anything on downloads tab, i closed firefox several times, but it continued everytime i opened firefox, and it did finished its download.
Later i noticed explorer.exe is always having an established connection in TCPview, without me opening any apps. so i thought i really need to reset the computer, but this is my problem. I've already run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth restore health on command prompt, but it showed no integrity violation.
My computer crashed(?) and wouldn't go past the setup utility screen. I finally got my Windows 8 installation disc, now my computer is telling my it can't find a media driver.

View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday, after many, many problems with my computer, I finally decided to reinstall Windows 8.1 Pro onto my ASUS X200CA netbook. However, after backing up and reinstalling the OS, I found that when I tried to disable "Launch CSM" in my BIOS, all of my boot options would disappear and my laptop would continually boot into my BIOS. When I re-enabled "Launch CSM", the boot options would reappear - however, it had not included the "Option #1 - Windows Boot Manager" that I had seen in my other installation.

Normally for the full version of Windows 8, and I guess Windows 8.1 when the full version arrives, you'd need a separate licence for the VM installation. But does this apply to the preview version as well?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 32-bit version of XP on my system, so when I do an upgrade within the XP OS. It automatically upgrades me to the 32-bit Windows 8. The actual installation went fine, without a hitch actually.
I have a 64-bit version of Vista that I may go ahead and do a clean install of first, just so I can upgrade to the 64-bit of Windows 8. But when I was going through the upgrade program, I never saw the option to create the ISO DVD or Flash drive. The only options were, "Install now, or install from desktop later". I chose "install from Desktop later" and found that all it did was suspend the installation until I clicked the desktop icon, which then just loaded the upgrade without giving me the option to create the DVD or Flash disk. Is there somewhere I can download the ISO so that I can create a disk?
I have tried updating my Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit, upgraded from Windows 8 Pro) with the new "Update 1" (KB2919355) but it always fails with ERROR code 8007005 (or 80073712).
What I have tried do to fix:

There must be something that Microsoft needs to fix, there are xxxxxxxxxxxx amount of similar complains and reports out there...
Although I have been able to make a full disk image using the built in "system image" option, I can not find any way to restore it. The recovery options only point to system restore and refresh PC. I'm navigating to <control panel> and then <file history> to access the recovery options. I can not find any restore from system image option anywhere.
Am I missing something, or is it deliberately missing in the Enterprise editions ? If so is there any way I can restore the backup image ?
I have an Asus S200E and I had been messing with linux and trying to install it alongside windows 8.1 with no joy.After a while I gave up but i've had a few issues with my laptop and wanted to either refresh or reset it.
When I try to refresh I get a message saying that the drive is locked and when I try to reset I am told the recovery partition is missing. I guess I must have done something when attempting to install linux that has caused this problem however when I open up the partition manager the recovery partitions are all still there.
How to Backup Windows 8.1 ? I can not find the option to repair disc and system image .

When I went to the store all I saw were apps for ASUS. How can I get to the real Microsoft Store to get the 8.1 upgrade?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently on Windows 8. I am trying ti update to 8.1. I went to the store and hit download. The download started and got to 50% then a message said 'installing preparing your pc'. About 15 seconds after that it starts all over downloading. This has repeatedly happened for the last 14 hours. I have restarted and shutdown my pc and when I go back to the store and hit download it says it is downloading. I tried to cancel the download without success. I then went back to download again and it tells me app has been installed.
P.S. Are there any other ways to do the update besides from the store?
Machine is an Acer Aspire laptop, i5 processor, 4GBRAM. Shipped with Windows 7, have been running Windows 8 on it for over 6 months now.
Certain updates from Windows Update simply will not install, it says "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes". These updates are the ones that will allow me to update to 8.1 via the store.
Upon scouring the internet, I have tried many fixes, including a slui.exe activation, running a DISM cleanup, running sfc / scannow, disabling all non-Microsoft services from msconfig, running the SURT tool.....
I created a setup USB with the ISO of Win 8.1 and its now out of date after the Spring Update 1. With XP you could slip stream service packs and updates. How I can incorporate Update 1 into Win 8.1 Setup USB stick?

I have a Windows 8 OEM disc that I'd like to slipstream Windows 8.1 Update 1 into so I don't have to spend extra time downloading Windows 8 updates before having to download Windows 8.1 and then all those updates. Every time I install (Pro Disk) when it finishes and restats, it goes right back to the beginning of the install Once I can get it installed, once the first screen spins, it stays black, but if I sleep and wake it, it goes right to the sign in screen-weird.
Then, it says no updates have been searched or ever installed, when I search I get the Error Code 80248007 cannot update.
I'm trying to update my windows 8 to windows 8.1 on a HP Pavilion g7-2261sb.
However, after numerous trials, every time, the installation stops and says "failed to install. error code 0xc0000374". EDIT: I checked again and it comes after the "collecting data" part.
I've ran the update checker (compatibility), and that gave no problems or errors.
I am having a hard time upgrading from windows 8 to 8.1, I have tried installing through the store, installing using the files downloaded by the store (copied them before they were deleted) and they all give me an error. The errors are as follows:
installer using key: This key does not work with this version of windows 8 (using Professional 64-bit, tried 8 and 8.1 key but neither work).
Installer using ei.cfg file: Setup failed to authenticate the product key (or similar, it is set to professional so this should not be an issue).
Store: just says setup failed.
The first time I tried updating, the installer froze and did not complete so I had to re-start, could this have something to do with the issue I am experiencing? My specs are as follows:
Windows 8 Professional 64-bit
2TB HDD
16GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia Geforce GT545 with 3GB VRAM
Realtek AC97 onboard audio
Intel core I7 3.2ghz quad-core multi-thread processor
I did a refresh on my laptop, HP PRO BOOK 440 G0.
It was running on windows 8.1, refreshed to windows 8, but now its not updating.
I did download the and run WIndowsupdatediagnostic tool, its showing all errors fixed but still the issue is persisting.
