In my Netgear router logs, its showing '[DoS attack: STORM] attack packets in last 20 sec from ip [10.0.0.2], Monday, Jan 06,2014 00:50:55' many times over and over about every 20 seconds, which is coming from my computer, I am almost 100% positive I got no malware/viruses on my computer.

I cannot seem to access my shared folder when logging in to ready share, it shows my device, but never pulls the shared folder. Is there something in the port forwarding setting that I may need to change?

I have to reconnect my Win 8.1 computer each time it's started,my Win 7 computers do not have this problem. Also my Canon G16 WiFi camera can connect to all my Win 7 systems but not to my Windows 8.1 the camera is not found. Windows 8.1 has been a real bummer. Just glad I still have other computers running Win7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago my ISP replaced my modem-router for a new one. Ever since the replacement, my main desktop computer won't connect to the internet "immediately". I checked the connection via ethernet and WiFi with my other computers (even tested every single one of my ethernet cables) and they work perfectly fine, except for my main desktop computer.
What my desktop does:
When I turn it on I have to wait for around an hour before it connects to the internet. During that hour, it attempts to identify something (I guess the IP? - the yellow warning icon gets displayed) and after 3 seconds of attempting, the connection drops and it goes back to saying "No connection". The connection is being made via Ethernet cable and I tried the troubleshoot but it continues to say that I need to plug-in a ethernet cable to my computer, thing is it is already plugged in and like I stated above, the cable worked fine with all my other computers. My desktop used to work perfectly fine with my old modem-router.
I attempted to do do some troubleshooting refreshing my ip using the cmd with admin privileges but nothing worked as it said every time that there was no media connection. My desktop just randomly connects to the internet by itself after an hour of attempting to connect and disconnecting and once it gets connected it works perfectly fine until I restart my computer or turn it off and then the next day it'll be the same thing over again.
This has gotten extremely annoying, what can I do to fix this and further prevent it from happening? - I updated all my drivers and it's still the same. It'll just connect to the internet whenever it wants to.
In the last day my computer has disappeared from my local network. i have itunes home sharing and folders i share from this computer but suddenly gone. It is a problem with the firewall because when i turn it off it works right. i DID NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES IN THE FIREWALL AT ALL. Running windwows 8.1 64 bit. The only AV i am running is windows defender
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a serious problem with my computer i got a virus that deselected my graphics card and wouldn't allow me to go in bios so i thought that a factory restore would do it, unfortunately i was wrong. It turned off the computer and when i try to start it it just goes to a black screen for about an hour then goes to like some kind of power save mode where the power button is flashing and i tried to turn it on again and the same thing happened. My screen works just fine but it says it dosen't get any input so my computer just isn't displaying anything. I am really scared and don't know what to do?

I set up some rules in the local security policy some time ago when there was fuss in the news about the cryptolocker virus. They looked a lot like the rules above (I found that screenshot online as I can't take one myself, read on..)
Today I was installing some software that wanted access to the areas I restricted. I temporarily disabled the rules, then re-enabled them. Being a dumbass I also set the top two rules (which are Windows default rules) to Disallowed!
Over the following 10 minutes various aspects of my PC stopped working, telling me that the local security policy prevented access. I couldn't even get into the Control Panel or the Local Security Policy screen to change it back, once I realised what I had done. I rebooted the machine - it won't come back up
I've tried a system restore by booting from the installer on USB (which did not work, it grumbled that it could not restore due a file locked by anti-virus) so I think I've got two options:
Refresh my system using the Windows 8 tools - but I suspect that might leave the LSP rules in place, as it retains my settings & preferences.Hand edit the registry to correct the settings.
Option 2 is looking best, I can get into RegEdit from the recovery console, but I'm not sure what to edit and what to set it to? This is on Windows 8.1 Pro...
I came to some trouble installing CorelDraw software which apparently uses for it's setup launcher web active container performed by IE core. If I launch setup, the setup windows is evidently noninitialized showing the top warning band about active content being blocked for security reasons. Even allowing active content by selecting from the top bar menu doesn't make the setup continue. So now I'd need to temporarily bypass all IE's security checks, ie. allow everything. What I already did was browsing the security tab in IE options and allowing most of the choices in branches ActiveX controls and plugin modules + Scripting (Local Intranet). On Advanced tab I have checked in Security branch Allow execution of active content from CD discs on this computer + Allow execution of active content from files on this computer. Nothing of these affecting the installer to run (ie. I still see then active content blocking bar).

o.k. long story short before installing 8.1.1 in my real environment i tested it out extensively in vm. i found out that if you get past a certain point with the windows updates bitdefender will not install, if you install bd prior to a certain point it installs and works great even after you do the rest of the windows updates. How to get it installed and working correctly in a fully updated 8.1.1? i have eset smart security in, but i'd rather have my bitdefender.

The Ethernet adapter troubleshooting tells me that the computer is configured correctly but the DNS server is not responding. (During this time the Internet is working as I have the cable plugged in to the computer.) I have the adapter set to automatically find the DNS server. I have run ipconfig/flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns to no avail. Do I need to get another network adapter? My laptop is probably at least 6 years old, and this problem started after I upgraded to 8 from XP - I had the router set up just fine on the old version.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am sharing my internet connection with my roommates, but lately they have been using P2P to download stuff which uses almost all the internet speed available. I have set up QoS to limit their bandwidth in the main Asus wifi router which directly connects to the modem, it works great for a few days, but then it doesn't work anymore, I still get slow internet speed now. Since my flat has 2 wifi routers, one is the main and another one is set up with a different name but still connects to the main router via the ethernet cable a few metres away so that the wireless range is increased. Just for your information, the two routers are transmitting on different channel, if you think that might be the cause and they have different SSID.
Could it be possible that the QoS only works in the main wifi router and doesn't affect the other wifi router which my roommates also have access to it?
I have changed the default router password so I am sure that they have no access to the router's settings.
Yesterday I purchased a new Dell Laptop. In the setup and configuration the unit found my wireless network. I have two other PC's (not windows 8) two Kindles, two Cell phones and an IPAD on this router and all the Dell would say it it can't connect to this network. It won't ask for the passkey, it provides no additional information and I can't get online in my own network with this system. I can however log on to a neighbors unsecured network effortlessly.
I am using an old airlink 101 wireless router that has been trouble free for several years. I tried to log onto airlink for a support inquiry but they no longer provide support for this model.
So i always when i try to go to my router settings or test my speed i always notice that my ip is changing every day.

I used "admin" as username and " password" as the password. But the page is not getting loaded. Its asking for the username and password again. My friend is able to log in to the same page with the same credentials in his windows 7 laptop. So i guess its the problem of OS.

I lowered my security settings to Medium and added Avast to the firewall permissions, but to no avail. My download settings were already at "prompt" anyway, so there's something deeper I can't figure out. I'm a reasonably competent generalist but not super computer smart.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to 8.1 , if I try and access my routers web page to change some config settings , the browser (and I've tried 4 different ones) connects to the web interface REALLY REALLY slowly... we're talking 5-10 minutes just to show part of the menu UI and even then not all the graphics show.
I can connect to the same interface using my tablet and it's instant...
Under Windows 8.0 it worked just fine also...
General web browsing is fine as is internet access for gaming etc...
I was using a router to access the web with my smart phone. I no longer use a smartphone and have gone back to a home phone.
The router is still hooked up and I was wondering, is the computer utilizing it in any way? Should I leave it hooked up?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up my router to the new internet connection and get the wifi going but for the life of me I cant get it set up. The internet connection itself is fine, from modem to pc. Once I have the modem in the mix,it gets no/limited connectivity and cannot reach the setups. I have tried the classic 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.1.1 and about 5 other variations, along with 'http://router'. My router is a Belkin N300 Wireless N Router. If I use a command prompt and do 'ipconfig', there is no ip address beside 'gateway default' once the router is connected. I have reset my router to factory settings. I've tried using a static ip address for my computer [though not sure if i did it correctly]. My DHCP is enabled.

How do I force the system to ask for the password each time I connect?
My computer keeps listing the internet connection as "limited". It does this randomly, I don't know when it will happen next. Restarting router/computer fixes it sometimes, but not all the time. Sometimes it takes about 4 restarts of the router until I get a proper connection. Trouble shooting merely describes the problem as having no connection and tells me to reconnect the router. This takes around 5 minutes each time and I'm getting tired of doing this, as it interrupts skype calls, games and conversations.

If the DVR is plugged into router before win 8 connects then the Windows 8 machine cannot log on using wifi, it gives message saying restricted access and has no internet access, if you unplug the DVR Windows 8 machine logs on fine you can then plug DVR back in and laptop can browse all day with no problems, if you log off then try and log on again you get the same restricted access message again ...
I bought an Asus G75vw couple days back with windows 8. Everything was working fine except that i couldn't connect to my wireless router. It had a WEP encryption. After I entered the Network Security key, I Kept on getting "Can't connect to this network", troubleshooting didn't work either. Then I updated all drivers from Asus support website and it connected after a restart. I was quite delighted but the next day again i got the "cant connect to this network" message. So I changed my encryption to WPA2-PSK (AES) and even updated the firmware of my router. Still no luck.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI use a small usb modem for my internet access and using a usb wifi adaptor and a virtual wifi router I was able to share my internet around home quite affordably.
Every now and again the software 'virtualrouter' would cause a crash. Maybe once every 3 months.
When I updated to 8.1 the software no longer worked, nor did any other. What's more it cause a DPC-Watchdog violation within a few minutes.
When I say the software doesn't run, one of two things happen. My old program 'virtualrouter' runs as normal, but none of my devices can connect. The network is available, but connection is impossible.
With other programs I get told that the wifi adaptor is not enabled. Which it is.
Something has changed in the upgrade and I don't know what. Every option and test I've run and enabling of virtualisation says that it should work. But then the BSOD arrives.
I recently brought the netgear wireless router and i connect it to the my wired network and after i complete successfully about the settings of netgear and after that i check the internet speed at speedtest it shows almost 2mbps download speed and 1.5 mbps upload speed but when i put the a file to download the speed only changes in between 60 - 70 kbps actually it gives 200 to 250 kbps but it doesn't.....i really tired my best get normal speed but i didn't got that....
