However when I try to sync, my iPod does not pick up the newly purchased music. The iPod "says" it's syncing but the music isn't picked up. Is it a Windows 8 problem?

I've tried to copy and paste music files from the HD to the iPod, but once the iPod is ejected, no music shows up on the iPod. I've downloaded iTunes, which seems to recognize when the iPod is plugged in, but I haven't been able to move any music from the HD to the iPod.

Apr 17, 2013I have connected my ipod touch 4g to my new windows 8 laptop via bluetooth. It shows up in both the ipod and in the windows settings as being connected. However, once connected, i am unable to do anything with the connection.
There is no Windows tile showing the ipod, no obvious options in the ipod for how I can do anything with the connection, nothing. What am I supposed to be able to do once I have connected them via bluetooth? Is there a step I'm missing? I've read you can stream podcasts to the computer, for example, but there's supposed to be a windows tile showing the ipod which I'm definitely not getting either in the start menu or when I search.
Plus Key (+) Opens Computer Instead Of Adding?
Oct 22, 2013Recently installed Windows 8 on my machine, and for some reason, the "+" key on my numeric pad (under minus, above enter, etc) doesn't add or hit "plus", it opens Computer, instead! This is really inconvenient, as i use my computer's calculator a great deal.
I've tried a different keyboard, and obviously tried toggling numeric lock - no avail.
CMD File Only Opens In Notepad
Jan 31, 2014I'm trying to set up a miner for a cryptocurrency and to do so I have to start a .cmd file. However, instead of running in command prompt, it only opens in notepad. I already tried this: Default File Associations - Restore in Windows 8 and I get the message that some keys are open by the system blah blah or I have insufficient privileges (I am the only user on my computer).
I also tried going into regedit and deleting any extension associates (not sure if correct name), but there was not one of .cmd, and when I tried creating one and pasting the cmd reg file I downloaded into it, it didn't let me.
I also going through set associations in control panel and setting command prompt to being the default program, but it just says "The program you have selected cannot be associated with this file type. Please choose another program."

Jul 4, 2013I have a windows 8 desktop computer with 2 monitors attached. I can span the desk top across both screens. I use this for document editing, picture file, etc. No gaming. When I span a program across the 2 screens (say Xn View for my pictures) if a dialogue window comes up (say to save a picture), it usually comes up right in the middle of the desktop which is where the two screens meet. This makes it a little difficult to read and I end up dragging it to one side.
Can I change where these dialogue windows come up? I really don't care which monitor they are centered on, just as long as they don't span the middle where the screens come together.

In Win7, for example, when opening a video (with WMV) the usual minimize, maximize/adjust size buttons appear in the upper right corner of the active window.
I want to be able to click on, with my mouse, the maximize button (wherever it is) and adjust the size of my active window.

Mar 14, 2014I recently upgraded my W7 Home premium to a genuine copy of 8 Pro that I got through school and now every time it boots, note pad opens up and has a smaller window saying "Access denied." I don't see anything funny looking in the start up section of task manager and everything in 7 seemed to be good and virus free before the upgrade.

Jun 6, 2014Yesterday, I just finished installing my programs on a new Dell Laptop running Windows 8.1 Core Edition. All the Apps worked a few days ago when I last checked them. However, yesterday most Apps would crash to the desktop on opening. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all of the Apps and they now work apart from the People App.
The People App opens, synchronises with my Hotmail account and I can search and display contacts. However, when I click on All Contacts or search alphabetically, the App crashes to the Desktop (see enclosed error report).
Strangely, the People App works in other accounts on the same Laptop. I've run the Fixit apps.daigcab which found several errors and fixed them. I've also run SFC /SCANNOW which found no problems.
Explorer Crash When Network Pane Opens
Jun 7, 2014i currently can not access the available Wi-Fi networks menu. when i attempt to open the available networks pane from either the taskbar, or the settings charm, explorer restarts. i receive no error. I think the problem originated a couple of days ago. on that day, i logged on and the resolution was wrong; Windows had just completed installing an update. since then, i've reinstalled the graphic, network, and audio drivers. i've also uninstalled the latest Windows updates, as well as try and use system restore to go back about a month. no results. the only thing telling is i get an error in safe mode that says "The instruction at 0x389fac1c referenced memory at 0x0000000. The memory could not be written." i recieve this error when i attempt to open the Network connections menu from the taskbar like usual.

Dell XPS 8500 - Windows 8 Opens Up Drives On Bootup
Apr 19, 2013I just bought this Dell XPS 8500 with Win 8 on it and although I'm not that happy with this OS I guess there is a learning curve so I'll try for awhile.
For some reason, after I had uninstalled Mcafee from the start up screen and also added a few items to the startup screen, when I reboot or do a cold boot, instead of getting the startup screen, I am getting the desktop along with about 5 disk partitions and a couple programs that I installed. While this is not bad since I can just "x" out of them, it's irritating and wonder how I can fix this. I would like to ultimately just boot up to the desktop if possible without anything else opening up.

Feb 28, 2014Have a problem in that whenever I boot my laptop in win 8.1 (pre-installed) the Store Broker opens and immediately starts using excess of 90% of my CPU. In addition I cannot download anything on the Windows Store. This happens:
This happens on boot and when I end task in the task manager, it pops up again later, even if I don't open any apps. It always starts when I open Store.

Brand new Toshiba laptop. McAfee anti-virus (tried solving by turning off), hardware working fine.

Jun 20, 2014Internet Explorer 11 will only open if I right click and then select Run As Administrator. If I don't do this, the window opens, then closes straight away without doing anything. Links in Incredimail will not open in it either

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox work fine (and with the Incredimail links). I have not added any programs recently. I have tried a clean boot, I have disabled all the add ons, I have checked/unchecked Enable Enhanced Protected Mode, I have made Google Chrome the default browser, then changed back to IE11, I have run Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Super Anti Spyware, Windows Defender and CCleaner, checked for Windows updates...all to no avail. Tried a system restore as well, but no joy.

Nov 17, 2013I accidentally set "Windows Presentation Foundation Host" to default open in Google Chrome, I don't know why I did. I was experimenting, I guess. I don't know how to fix it.
Windows Presentation Foundation Host is an XAML file. I don't know a whole lot about how computers and their files work, but I know a little like how to navigate with task manager, file explorer, control panel, etc.

Until few days ago, everything was working fine. Whenever I open the File Explorer/Windows Explorer, it always opens minimized. Earlier I just needed to maximize it and close it so that when the next time I open it, it opens maximized. But when I do that now, it still opens minimized.
Not just that. I like to have my files and folders view to be as "large icons". But, its all in "details" view now. Earlier if something like this happened, I would change it once to "large icons" and it remained intact upon my viewing next time. However, it doesn't happen now. In spite of changing the view settings to "large icons", they still open "details" view.

Nov 14, 2013Before upgrading to 8.1 I had a cool Photo Viewer. It was the default viewer so I do not have an app name.
When I selected Photos from the main Start screen, there would be 10 to 15 photos on the screen at the same time and different sizes (large thumb nail). Plus the photos changed individually in a random way. Selected photos randomly from different folders. Very cool.
After upgrading to 8.1 all I get are full screen individual photos in a slide show format.
Is there an app that I should download or am I missing something?
