When I type on mozilla, chrome or explorer i get things like is asking me do you want to save this webpage or it opens a new tab automatically.
View 1 RepliesI've been having problems with Google Chrome's freezes for quite a while now.
They are random, first you see that your browser doesn't respond anymore, but then neither does the PC.
You wait up to 3 minutes, and everything works out. But that's not really ideal.
So, in order to see what was wrong with my problem, I thought that I should get Mozilla Firefox.
But as I have seen, that does not change anything.
Internet Explorer 11 will only open if I right click and then select Run As Administrator. If I don't do this, the window opens, then closes straight away without doing anything. Links in Incredimail will not open in it either

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox work fine (and with the Incredimail links). I have not added any programs recently. I have tried a clean boot, I have disabled all the add ons, I have checked/unchecked Enable Enhanced Protected Mode, I have made Google Chrome the default browser, then changed back to IE11, I have run Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Super Anti Spyware, Windows Defender and CCleaner, checked for Windows updates...all to no avail. Tried a system restore as well, but no joy.
I upgraded to w 8.1 with firefox as my default browser. When I opened the "e" shortcut google web page opened. I tried to download IE 11 but a message said it was already running. open IE ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Firefox 20 and lately when I open a new window it will switch back to the previous window in about a second or so. The new window appears in the task bar and when clicked will stay selected. Seems odd to me.

Blurry arrows in bookmark menu in Mozilla Firefox for windows 8.1 on 2 laptops and 1 PC after store upgrade. That said there were 2 pro versions and 1 standard version respectively.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI occasionally receive email attachments with a .doc extension that Windows Live Mail considers to be dangerous and has, therefore, deactivated. I recognise I can free the attachment by dragging it to the desktop or going to Home>Junk>Safety Options...>Security in Windows Live Mail and unchecking the box adjacent to 'Do not allow attachments that could potentially be a virus to be saved or opened'. However, in whatever application I try to open the file, nothing meaningful appears - it comprises hieroglyphics.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 8.1. and recently I tried to launch Internet Explorer (11) from the start menu. It launched Firefox. I ran a search from the start menu for Internet Explorer found it and clicked. Again Firefox opened instead of IE. I clicked on an icon on my desktop set up to open a website in IE regardless of browser preferences. It opened Firefox and went to the homepage I have set in Firefox not to the URL I had set.
Opening IE by browsing to to C:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe. workes just fine. Creating a desktop shortcut directly to the exe works fine. I played around with the associated programs for internet and even with everything defaulting to IE it would still open Firefox when clicking on the IE Tile on the start menu. I uninstalled/reinstalled IE11 with no change.
So I then uninstalled Firefox. Now clicking on the start icon for IE it brings up a box asking me something about an exe with a checkbox (can't remember exactly) and below that Internet explorer or I can choose other down below. If I chose IE it brought up another window asking what I wanted to do with iexplore.exe. Save/ Save As / Save and Run. None of the options opened IE. IE at this point still runs by going directly to the exe in Program Files.
Logged off as that user and logged back on as a different user and ie works just fine from that profile.
I'm guessing something in my registry is hosed, how I can repair this?
I upgraded my laptop to Win 8.1 a few days ago and everything seemed to be working fine. I ran into an issue today using the desktop version of IE 11 where I can type text into the address bar but if I select a field on a web page, I am not able to type text into it. I normally use FireFox as my browser and it works fine (as does Chrome). If I bring up the Metro version of IE 11, I can enter text fine.
It's not a big deal since I rarely use IE but it bugs me now that I know about it. I just checked on a netbook I upgraded and don't see the issue there.
Both Firefox 30.0 and 27.0 installed, when I do a Reply in hotmail I cannot type into the body of the msg. Only the subject line. However FF 27.0 Portable works normally. So does Opera x64 and chromium.
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to set a particular folder as the default location for a specific file type, or, in the event that's not possible, just set it as the default location for all file types. Mainly I'm interested in setting one specific folder as default for every time I right click on an image and choose save as. I'm tired of having to browse through to my images folder each and every time. It didn't used to do this until I upgraded to windows 8.1. I don't really use "libraries" as there are only two folders I use for downloads. One is for images. The other is for everything else. I don't mind having to browse to my downloads folder, just not the images folder as that is generally what I download the most since I work with graphics a lot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI mentioned not so long back that the chrome browser was closing after being opened and then getting a report that Chrome did not close properly! So after many weeks of this, I decided to return to firefox, in spite of the so called spyware.
Just now, I opened Firefox to do a Google search for somewhere, and - it shut down. When I reopened it, it opened on the page that had crashed. Google search.
So, it either not just chrome, or its a google thing?
How to get rid of them notifications and that annoying "bell" icon on my taskbar,that comes with them? Am usingVersion 35.0.1916.153 (up to date that is) and have already tried disabling via group policy and flags within Chrome,it keeps coming back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedGoogle Chrome opens fine when I've just started it. If I close it accidentally or forgot something and have to reopen it after I close it, it will not open. It's almost as if it isn't closing properly but when I check task manager it does not show it running. I have to wait 20 - 30 min. to open it again. I've reinstalled and it still does this. I've tried to find tech support for a free product on Google Chrome sites, but they only support free the products you purchase.

Copying text from all browsers also works fine, the problem is just images.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a Dell with Win 8 and touchscreen. It was fine for a couple days. A half hour ago when I started it again I am unable to send email using yahoo mail in either of my browsers. I can check email fine and if I click the email in the inbox I can read it fine. When I click the onscreen right or left arrow to go to next or previous email nothing happens. When I click compose I go to the draft screen and all is well until I click Send. Nothing happens. I can send fine through my hotmail account. I can't get it to work clicking on any of the other folders in yahoo mail either.
So, is this a temporary issue with yahoo or something I need to figure out about Win 8? I've been in Mac land for the last 3 years or so. Also, the touchpad is way too sensitive. I turned palm rejection to the highest setting but it still jumps all over and does things I don't want it to do.
How to FULLY disable history in chrome ? There is extension "no history", but it disables only simple history, but there still is things like "recently closed" and "most visited" history, and I haven't found a way to disable it ..
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy parents bought an AX3995-UR20 in the last year, and very little has been downloaded on to it, so mostly the computer has the default programs. I have downloaded Word of Tanks onto it, but nothing other than the default game has been added, and I've experienced no issues with the game itself. Some of the problems I've been having are:
- Google Chrome crashes regularly
+ This usually happens when multitasking after Chrome is opened; I'll switch to another program (IE, WoT, etc.) and chrome will freeze, and then crash
+Issues with Google Chrome also happen to IE
+ WoT will update its state as I have Chrome maximized (move to another loading screen/ start game) and this seems to be when Chrome crashes.
+Chrome will also freeze/crash when I do something in Chrome, such as load a gif, without anything else open
- The computer will not update
+ it asks for a restart to update, and then fails to finish and abandons the update
+ this also happens when I attempt to force an update
- Sometimes, after sleeping, the computer will black screen and needs to be turned off manually before it can be used
+ I really don't like manually shutting off the computer every other time I need to use it, I don't want to hurt it/ corrupt data
-Word has crashed when I attempted to save my document; this has happened only once and could be a fluke
- Intel Support Manager tells me it crashed almost every time I log in
I am fairly sure, based on what it happening, that this is a problem with RAM, the computer not being able to handle so much at once; crashes happen during MORE resource intensive times, although I think that the computer should be able to handle these tasks EASILY.
Chrome crashes when more resources/programs used, computer should be able to handle them, however. Windows will not apply updates.
Chrome actually freezes for no reason, too; often, in the middle of browsing a page, it will stop scrolling and then crash.
I'm setting up my backup system as my main system is down for warranty repair on the motherboard.
I had Outlook 2003 setup on the main system in both Win 7 64 bit and Win 8.1 64 bit. I know Office 2003 is not supposed to be compatible with Win 8, but it works OK.
On the main system in Outlook 2003 when composing a new message, if I typed the first letter of an e-mail address in the "To" (or others) a drop down menu of e-mail addresses will appear and I could highlight the one I wanted and press enter and it would be entered on the address line. With the new install on this backup Win 8.1 system, when I highlight an e-mail address and press enter, all it does is enter the first letter and add a second line to the address line - see attached screen shot. I can't find where to enable this option (if it is an option).
I accidentally set "Windows Presentation Foundation Host" to default open in Google Chrome, I don't know why I did. I was experimenting, I guess. I don't know how to fix it.
Windows Presentation Foundation Host is an XAML file. I don't know a whole lot about how computers and their files work, but I know a little like how to navigate with task manager, file explorer, control panel, etc.

I had disabled flash player in Google chrome but that was showing the option to enable flash player.children clicked on that and enable plugin again to play games on-line. Is there any other safe way that could be difficult for children to access.
