When I save a file to Onedrive on my computer it doesn't sync. I don't use the Windows 8.1 app, instead when I save I select onedrive. I can't figure it out. Or it will save it but it isnt accessible on other devices. What can I do here?

I have googled it a lot and tried the CMD command posted as a solution, but it didn't work unfortunately.

When I go to advanced system settings and choose Home instead of business, when I save and restart it is still on Business network. I have windows 8 pro 64 bit on a HP pavilion elite 8 gb ram i6 1tb drive. I have made sure that the services below are running as well as set to Auto.

I have three machines running Windows 8.1 Update 1 and for some reason one of the machines does not like OneDrive. When I first boot the system the OneDrive Cloud appears in the tray. However, as soon as I hover the mouse over it to see the sync status the Cloud Icon goes away and I think I get the SkyDive 1000 error in the Event Log. I don't know what I did to screw it up on this machine
View 1 Replies View Relatedis there a way to completely disable the OneDrive Sync Engine process from starting up with windows? I can't find it in the startup menu. Sometimes when it loads it will lock up my computer for about ~5 mins until anything becomes responsive. I was able to grab a screen shot of the process loading in the notifications. I just would like to disable OneDrive 100% if possible (running Win 8.1, update 1) as I do not use that service for anything.

Now I cannot access a file on a computer which uses Windows 8 unless I tell the Windows 8 computer to let EVERYONE access the file - which I don't want to do. A computer using Windows Vista on the same network has had no problems. I've created a new username on the Windows 8 computer and given the problem computer that name but still no access. I've enabled read/write file sharing and given the problem computer full access permissions but still can't get in. I removed all Microsoft updates that had been installed four days before the problem occurred on the Windows 8 computer and recovered the Windows XP system to the day before the problem occurred - still can't get in.

That means, all photos uploaded from my D: drive are also copied to my C: drive. But it wastes my space on the C: drive. All my settings are set to upload photos with online access only. I tried to delete the copied photos from my C: drive but it also deleted them from OneDrive. Is it possible to upload only to OneDrive without copying the photos to C: drive?

I've been trying to set up an old Savin 9033 printer through the company's router, but I couldn't find the network it's set up on from any other computer.
So I pull up Network & Sharing, see that Network Discovery is turned off.
I check it, go to click on "Save Changes" and nothing happens. I click it a few times and it kicks me back to the previous page, nothing saved. No password prompt or anything.
I double checked that all the appropriate services are running (DNS Client, SSDP Discovery, UPnP Device Host, Function Discoveryr Resource Publication, etc.) and made sure Network Discovery was allowed through Windows Firewall.
Having a strange issue with Onedrive. If I drag/drop files into my "local machine" onedrive folder it automatically syncs up with my onedrive account in the cloud. So the same files are both on my home system and in the cloud. That works. I can log on thru my browser at the onedrive site and log on, copy and download files...upload thru the browser and it will also show up on my local harddrive....so that works too.
The issue I'm having is if I use my metro tile screen, click on onedrive app, it opens up, I can see all the files in my onedrive account.....however if I right click while in app, then click upload it opens up my folder, I can pick the file I wish to upload and click "add to onedrive" nothing ever gets uploaded. No error message or anything, just nothing happens when using the app. No files ever show up or get uploaded. I can also pick a file using the onedrive app (from the cloud) and click download (to my local system), it allows me to pick the destination and hit OK, but I get an message " the file couldn't be saved" no matter where I decide to put it. So while onedrive is working for the most part if I bypass the windows 8 metro app, it is not working inside the app itself.
I have a problem with SkyDrive. Windows 8 is now using OneDrive, but I still have the SkyDrive icon shown in Explorer on my computer. When I try to open or delete it, it does not work. What should I do?

One SkyDrive account with folders F1, F2, F3.
Laptop 1 runs Win7Pro and needs local copies of folders F1, F2, F3
Tablet 2 runs Win8Pro and needs local copies of folders F1, F2
Laptop 3 runs Windows 8.1Pro and needs local copy of F3 only
Can this be done?
I have no problem syncing in a W7 environment but if I do it in Windows 8.1 it fails.
Using the Onenote Metro App (also installed locally) it works.
Can it be fixed? I much prefer the complete MS Onenote 2010 than the Metro App.
Just bought a Windows 8 tablet, and not knowing anything about it. Specifically what we were trying to do today was sync his documents from his desktop to the tablet. OneDrive seemed the easiest way to do that, so I installed the OneDrive app on his desktop and logged him in on the tablet. And there were the files. But the problem is, they're on the cloud, and he wants to be able to access them offline.
Through googling, I discovered that there is supposed to be an option in OneDrive to "make all files available offline," supposedly accessible through the Charms bar, under Settings -> Options. But alas, I followed all the directions everywhere, and that option was not there. I took an appropriate screenshot:
Similarly, there is no option to "make available offline" when I access options for individual documents within OneDrive (by swiping up or down).
Why is this option not where it is supposed to be?
I'm using Win 8 Pro and i'm on a Private network which happens to be my Home Network. I'm having problem saving HomeGroup settings; I went through Change Advanced Sharing Settings then I checked Turn on network discovery and Turn on file and printer sharing, I clicked save and but when I return to the setting page again, the settings are not saved.
I've tried this several times but nothing seems to be working out. The same thing still happens when I go through Charms >> Change PC Settings >> HomeGroup >>Libraries and Devices.
Every time I sign into my windows 8 account at home it never automatically connects to it. I tried following the tutorial at [URL]......
However when I get up to the part where you are support to right click on the wifi connection to access view connection properties I am unable to. Right clicking on the wireless connection does absolutely nothing. I even tried clicking on it and holding and still nothing.
When I go to the network and sharing center and click on the wireless connection it pops up a dialogue called wi-fi status. However there is no button for wireless properties. I remember in windows 7 there use to be a tab where you change the key encryption type and there was a check box where you can save the password. Essentially I can't access the dialog box in page 10 of the above link.
I re-installed Windows 8 yesterday evening (thought it would be quicker than to cleanup and fix my old install) and then directly upgraded it to Windows 8.1. The problem I am experiencing is quite weird: The Operating System doesn't detect the network cable.
With that being said, do not jump straight to the "Did you turn it on and off again" questions. Here is what I have done so far:

I am wondering what is wrong with my installation. It was working A1 a few days ago, except for the issues I re-installed the operating system for.
my network connection on my laptop. I recently moved up to my college and am now on their network. However, I didn't have this problem at first. But recently if I go to my network connections, there is always a wired connection listed named "Unidentified Network" which has "Limited" access. The problem here is that I am not connected to any wired networks. There is no cable plugged into my computer so I don't understand how this is possible. The only thing I have installed recently is Virtualbox, just in case that could affect it.

However, after running that script and restarting, it is unable to set the IP address (See screenshot).
Also, there are many logs in Event Viewer which says this: The DHCP allocator has disabled itself on IP address 169.254.212.34, since the IP address is outside the 192.168.137.0/255.255.255.0 scope from which addresses are being allocated to DHCP clients. To enable the DHCP allocator on this IP address, change the scope to include the IP address, or change the IP address to fall within the scope.
I need to get this hosted network up and running!
How to make the 'Libraries' folder structure appear when doing a file open file save. In both case I can see the folders labeled Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. but I cannot see the Libraries folder.
Is this possible? How?

how can i alter the permissions level. i mean, i should be logged in as an administrator so why does the system think that i am not the administrtor and where can i go to alter it.
I am tired of having a computer in my bedroom waking up sometimes multiple times in the morning hours--like approximately 3 or 4 A.M. Support people have tried to stop this operation but to no avail. It still is doing it although less frequently now. This morning at 3:14 A.M., it woke up automatically and then shut down a few minutes later.
In Event Viewer it said at 3:14 A.M.: The system time has changed to 2013-10-06T10:14:28.500000000Z from 2013-10-06T06:11:17.671868600Z. Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock. I attached a screen shot of the info in Event Viewer, for your reference.
Why does the computer have to do this at 3:14 A.M.? Can't this occur some other time like during the day when the computer is running?
I recently purchased an HP notebook running windows 8. My previous machine ran Vista. I transferred my music to the HP and have purchased new music. However when I try to sync, my iPod does not pick up the newly purchased music. The iPod "says" it's syncing but the music isn't picked up. Is it a Windows 8 problem?

Here is my question. I use mainly "My Documents" folder (in Win 7 and 8 computers) for creating, updating and modifying files everyday. Then I MANUALLY sync the same My Documents folder with that in the Dropbox.
My question is whether there is a way to sync automatically between My Documents in my computer to that in Dropbox. If My Documents folder in Dropbox automatically sync with My Documents folder in my computer, it would be very convenient. Is that possible?
When I update Windows graphics drivers, Windows (Windows 8.1) does not save the desktop icons where I keep them, and I have to put them back where I like them,, snapshot attached.. a long time ago I had to use a separate utility to save icon positions.. I have been using desktop icons for many, many years..
How do I tell windows not to lose the icon positions when I upgrade drivers.. btw, I use Nvidia x64

After much thought I recently did a fresh install of my OS everything was working before just wanted a fresh start.
Since I did the fresh install I'm getting wifi doesn't have a valid up configuration.
This is on a desktop and I can't use a wired connection also I have tried resetting the router. And refreshing windows 8 again.
Recently I have been intermittently getting disconnected from the internet while gaming / streaming. If I ran the troubleshooter, the error that I got was "Default gateway not available". Resetting my router/modem and restarting the PC every time it happened seemed to resolve this for a while. and is now accompanied by another error saying that "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration. This is much more frequent now, every 10-20 minutes or so. I am on wired internet coming from the combo router/modem from my ISP/Cable co.

I know I have the password right and I am definitely in range. Other devices work on the network also. I have the network diagnostics report and a screenshot of my IP configuration included.

I have a NAS on my network and I can easely access it in my typing in a password and an username. So far so good. What bothers me is that every time I reboot I have to retype user and password like the first time! How can I make Windows remember this kind of password?
