I am frequently getting page not found errors, and am having to reload, pages take a long time to load and it's pretty much 50-50 wether it will or not load at all.
I've tried rebooting my router. I have a Vergin Media 'Super Hub' which is only two months old.

I am having trouble with ICS on win 8. On my old laptop (win xp) I used to be able to share my 3Connect dongle internet to connect to Xbox live. I recently got a new laptop with win 8 and whenever I share this internet connection I can never connect on my Xbox (the network to internet part fails). When everything is connected up and shared the Ethernet says 'Unidentified Network' which i believe is the cause of the problem. I've read i may require a driver update but i cannot seem to find one.

Recently, something odd has been happening. On initial start up of my PC, the network fails. It will show the yellow exclamation point and show as limited. When this happens, I cant even ping my directly connected router. It shows as PING: Transmit failed. General Failure.
So far since this started happening, restarting works. Is there any way to figure out what the cause is? My drivers are up to date and it may have started when I updated to 8.1 but im not 100 percent sure. Not sure if there are any logs I can look at to see what isnt happening correctly when this occurs.
i have a lenovo idea pad that will connect to wifi but says limited connection. I can use the iternet via ethernet cable with no issues. My ISP is comcast and I have one of their modems that came with wifi im guessing it doubles as a router seeing i direct connect to it with my laptop. however my wifi works for my xbox one, a nexus 7 tablet a xbox 360 ,a printer and two smartphones with no issues what so ever. They are not all on at once so max connections shouldnt be a issue. I've spent hours on the phone with comcast and they insist its the laptop and not the wifi, how to go about fixing the issue. I've checked the drivers and their up to date then uninstalled and reinstalled still no luck. i use firefox for browsing and AVG for antivirus.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy computer keeps listing the internet connection as "limited". It does this randomly, I don't know when it will happen next. Restarting router/computer fixes it sometimes, but not all the time. Sometimes it takes about 4 restarts of the router until I get a proper connection. Trouble shooting merely describes the problem as having no connection and tells me to reconnect the router. This takes around 5 minutes each time and I'm getting tired of doing this, as it interrupts skype calls, games and conversations.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with my sony vaio connecting to the internet. For one thing it doesn't pick up wireless signal as far away as the other laptops in the house. The main problem though, is that often the bars will be lit up as if it is connected but there will be a little yellow warning triangle saying limited.
When it happens, I try disconnecting/reconnecting and turning the router on and off but most of the time I just have to wait until it comes back. Once it is connected it works fine. It is fairly a fairly common occurrence and happens every day.
We have an Eircom router and the wireless card (according to the outside of the box) is: Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11bgn).
I've been having a problem since I updated to Windows 8.1My internet wi-fi connection is unusually low and is not working after only minutes of browsing the internet. The problem is always fixed after I run troubleshoot problems and is saying that the default Gateway is unavailable. My netword card might be the source of the problem even tough I updated the drivers. I'm not sure which one I have because drivers from Ralink and Qualcomm seem to be working both.

I plugged in my ethernet cable I would only get "Limited Access" to the router I've spent the last 10hours+ trying to find a solution but not a single has worked now what to do.

I heard Windows 8 is not very friendly with wireless drivers and Windows 8.1 is suppose to have better support for wireless drivers.
I have an Acer Aspire laptop with Windows 8.1. My main modem is located downstairs in my house, with a laptop connected to it (it works fine, never any issues). Before, I had a router wired upstairs to connect my laptop to. Here's the problem - it doesn't matter if I am using a wireless or a wired connection, I get a limited connection. I will have Windows troubleshoot the problem, and it always says that the problem was that the Default Gateway is not Available, and it will say that it is fixed. However, this randomly happens over and over anywhere from 2 minutes to 20 minutes after I just "fixed" it.
I have just recently tried running a wire across my house to plug directly into the modem. This worked for a while, but the same thing started happening. Keep in mind, there is also a laptop wired directly to the modem downstairs in my house. I believe (but I haven't checked this in a while) that if I connect to the WiFi from my modem downstairs, it works fine.
I just traveled to a place where there is supposed to be wifi and I am staying here for a while. The wifi connects well through Ipod, but when connecting through windows 8 it accepts the password but tells me this connection is limited.
I searched through some threads and did some of the solutions such as the netsh reset for example but none have worked so far. Should I do a factory reset to my laptop?
My Windows 8 laptop is having some WiFi connection issues.
Basically what happens is that every 5-20 minutes I cannot access the internet on browsers and the wifi connection is listed as "Limited".

The WiFi: Sky wireless router (no idea about model, it's almost two years old) But what I will say is that my Windows 7 laptop never skips a beat on this network, nor does my wife's Mac, nor do our 2 Android tablets, the iPad, the iPhone, the Android phone, and various devices that our friends connect when they come round. Literally no other device has any problems on this network, so I know (by the process of elimination) the Windows 8 laptop is the one with the problem.
In order to fix the issue I have to disconnect from the network, wait about 30 sec and reconnect again.
my network connection on my laptop. I recently moved up to my college and am now on their network. However, I didn't have this problem at first. But recently if I go to my network connections, there is always a wired connection listed named "Unidentified Network" which has "Limited" access. The problem here is that I am not connected to any wired networks. There is no cable plugged into my computer so I don't understand how this is possible. The only thing I have installed recently is Virtualbox, just in case that could affect it.

I work at a mental hospital doing security and we are allowed to have a laptop for over night shifts. I have an Alfa wireless antenna (cause i get low signal where im stationed) along with my normal laptop Wifi.
Heres the story. I was using my laptop antenna then out of no where it said "Identified Network (no internet access)" then my internet just stopped. I had this happen on my old laptop and it lasted a few days then worked like normal again. Then i switched to mt usb antenna and it worked fine for about 20 mins then all of a sudden it went it "Identified Network (no internet access)". So I was stuck with no internet. I tried looking up fixes on my ipod and i tried 3 Ways To Fix The Unidentified Network Error in Windows 8 and it didnt work I tried How To Fix Unidentified Network Windows - YouTube and it didn't work either. I'm dying here cause I have to sit in a room for 12 hours tonight with no way to keep my self from falling asleep or entertained.
Wifi worked, walked away for 10 minutes, then found that it didn't. I would normally just reset the router, but I live in an apartment building and the router is in my landlords office.
When I did ipconfig /all, my ip started with 169, which I know isn't normal. But when I try to do a /release and /renew, I get the error "No operation can be performed on local area connection *14 while it has it's media disconnected." I am unable to attempt a wired connection, as the router is not accessible to me.
.I'm not sure if this is a router issue, or an issue with my laptop (less than a year old.) I am a grad student and I currently have to do most of my work via my iphone, which is getting very inconvenient.
I'm using my usb modem connected to my laptop to provide an internet access to my xbox while I was on Win 7 and it runs good but after I upgrade my OS to Win 8 now I can connect no more. It says that my ethernet connection is "unidentified network" while I still have my ICS enabled (My USB Modem still stated "shared"). I have set IPv4 to obtain automatically though.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got this problem on my laptop Asus u38dt under Windows 8.1 a couple of months ago. It cannot connect to any network either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet (I tried an external USB Wi-Fi adapter as well, with the same result). In case of getting IP with DHCP, the network is shown as Unidentified network with no address assiged (IP is like 169.*). When static IP enabled, the network name is correct. But in both cases, connection is Limited and with No Internet access.
Connection can't be established with any router while other devices connect properly with them, so the problem is on the laptop side.
With all of this, any ping, even to 127.0.0.1, results in General failure.
When booted in Linux liveUSB, network works fine, so it is clearly not a hardware issue.
I tried resetting TCP/IP stack with "netsh int ip reset", reinstalling drivers, reinstalling the network adapter, and lots of other methods and still it doesn't work. Restoring system is not an option since I don't have any restoration point prior to the problem anymore.
My windows ethernet network says 'unidentified network' every time i try and connect my Xbox to Xbox live through my laptop. Is there any way to solve this because i feel as though i have tried everything, and may as well go back to windows 7 if possible.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new Windows 8, Inspiron 15 7000 series - 7537 last December. I had been using a router at a hotel for the time, and it worked correctly. When I arrived home, I had a Belkin router, and i experienced network issues in that i could not connect to the wifi. I could connect with Ethernet cable. The problem was fixed through customer support eventually, but I now have a new Comcast router, and i'm experiencing what appears to be the same or a similar issue. I can access the internet fine by wire. With wifi, it says i have access to the internet over the internet icon in the bottom right, but i cannot access webpages. I can use skype, and communicate through it.

I really need the wifi on this router working for this laptop. Let me note that it works on other laptops, so it should be an issue with hardware or settings on this laptop.
Since a few weeks, I have a problem with my laptop running Windows 8.1 (Toshiba Satellite P50-A-12PBE). Sometimes, after bringing Windows back from sleep mode, I seem to have no connection to the internet. Windows says the connection is 'limited', wether I'm connected with a wire or wireless. Resetting the router doesn't solve anything, but rebooting my pc does. Since both the wired and wireless network are always simultaneously affected, I think this hasn't anything to do with drivers (I already have the latest versions by the way). I have made screenshots with ipconfig-results when I'm connected with a wire.

I previously had windows 7 on my HP Pavilion dv7 and I bought the student version of windows 8 and downloaded/installed on my PC last night. I'm loving the new OS, except one thing. Every 15 or so minutes my internet says "limited access." No, it's not my connection - it works fine on other laptops/phones.
Once I restart the PC it reconnects, I tried to reinstall my drivers and it doesn't seem to work.
I have 2 PC's. Both are now running Windows 8. The main PC was running Windows 7 and I there mapped a network drive (z to the Windows 8 PC. It worked very nice. The second PC was also shown in "networks" in "my Computer" right after boot of Main PC. So network for sharing is set up properly on second PC.
After installing Windows 8 on main PC, it is still working, but the time spend waiting for the network drive is waaaaay longer now. The name of second PC "Photo-PC", is shown right after boot, but when I first click on the name, and get this error:

If I then wait about 20-30 seconds and then click again on "Photo-PC" then I have access to all shared drives, included my mapped network drive Z:
How can I eliminate this 20-30 seconds delay after boot?
I have given up setting up a homegroup, never had it to work, but "oldfashioned" network drives used to work
I have up until a few days ago been able to modify and save my network properties ok. I connected a new DisplayLink USB docking station that lead to an update of some sort. I believed this to be to do with associated drivers. I let this go ahead and it may well have nothing to do with the problems I have been having.
First of all I couldn't even see the IP parameters and kept getting an error as follows:
"In Order to Configure TCP/IP, You Must Install and Enable a Network Adapter Card"
The wired and wireless was working in environments where I could use DHCP so I was confident the hardware was ok. Uninstalling the drivers and then updating them has got me passed this problem so I can see and edit the IP parameters. However now they are never saved. I edit them, close the window, re-edit them and they are back to automatic settings! I need to use static settings in the office.
So far as I can see there are 2 possibilities:
1. I don't have permissions to save these settings, wherever they are stored. But I have administrator permissions. Where are the settings stored? I have saved them before. How can I get access to be able to save them again?
2. Something else is overwriting the settings. How do I find out what and stop it?
This is a fairly new install of Windows 8 pro (within the last month), and while trying to set up a static ip up today I found that I was unable to access the network properties or disable the connection in the Network Connections. I am pretty stumped as I am the only user of this computer and from what I can tell have the correct permissions to do so. When trying to check the properties it tells me "an unexpected error has occurred" with no further information.
