I have iso file with file size 16GB, when i mount i got problem can not see all file in the iso (only 30 file from total 143 file)
I try to open with winrar i can see all file but only 30 with the extension and complete file name, other file there is no extension and file name not complete
What should i do to extract all the file in this iso?
Never had this problem before I have two files in an otherwise empty folder but there are no extensions after the file name. I can't add an extension to the files. I can't rename them or move them or delete them. Every time i try any of these things i am being told that: "the element wasn't found. It is no longer located in (insert name here) control the elements place and try again"
What that means. I even tried to delete them from the cmd...
I have numerous hard drives and over the years due to bad housekeeping I have files all over the place, I am trying to tidy things up by transferring all files with the same extension onto a large memory stick so I can then transfer them back into specific folder, is there a program that will do this.

Most noticeable are Nitro PDF Professional which doesn't always start when I click on a PDF file, sometimes it does, some times it doesn't. Quicken is often slow to start, some times the window opens then it waits for the display, sometimes the there is a wait until the window even opens. Same for xplorer2 opening and even selecting another folder. Going back to Windows 7 with almost the identical installed programs/utilities (about 40) the "problem" goes away.

I transferred many music files from a backup drive onto a new laptop running Windows 8, and found most renamed as numbered files with a .ptl extension. Found out that my backup drive (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex) doesn't like long filenames and renames them as referenced above. ("ptl" stands for "path too long"). I have been renaming them, dumping the ptl extension to get the files back as mp3's, but I get a confirmation window that I have to click "yes" to for each and every change I attempt. I'd love to kill the confirm popup for every file I change, it doubles the time involved for each file and I have enough work just renaming the files back to their original names. I've looked all over the control panel for something to uncheck to accomplish this, with no success.

I have a USB hard drive which has two partitions:
1 x 100GB partition formatted as FAT32
1 x 900GB partition formatted as NTFS
(these sizes aren't perfectly correct, but it's a 1TB drive that's split in 1:9 proportions)
On my Windows 7 laptop, both partitions are visible in My Computer, and I can read/write with no problems. (On the same laptop, an Ubuntu install can also see and use them perfectly)
On my new Windows 8 laptop, the 100GB FAT32 patition appears under My Computer normally, but the 900GB NTFS partition does not. If I go to Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management, I can see the partition. It has no drive letter or file system listed, reports as "healthy, primary partition" and shows 100% free space. If I right click on the drive's entry in the list, my only options are "delete partition"; everything else is greyed out.
So, to summarise: One hard drive with two partitions. Both partitions work perfectly in Win 7 and Ubuntu. Win 8 can only see the FAT32 partition, and treats the NTFS partition as if it is junk.
way to persuade Windows 8 to mount this partition? I know that the drive and partition are fine, but for some reason Windows 8 isn't interested.
I have a samsung galaxy s3 plugged into a front usb slot on my cyberpower pc, running windows 8. For charging. My previous computer never had any issues but this one (which is brand new) is having a lot of annoying problems with it.
It has no issue detecting the phone, but any time I touch the phone while it's plugged in. The computer will repeatedly (7-10 times) play the dismounting hardware sound. Followed by several mounting sounds. Over and over for a little while.
I thought maybe it was a connection problem with the cord. But it happens without any interference with the cord. All I have to do is press any button on the phone once and it will mount and unmount the phone obsessively. Which will also open and close the folder for the phone's files, interrupting everything I'm doing at the time.
I just bought a used laptop running windows 8 and was wanting to swap the hard drive for my old windows 7 hdd. Id like to keep Windows 8 but I just need to transfer my old stuff to a flash. After installing I get the "no master boot record found" or something similar. I understand that its the firmware unable to read the MBR due to it being win7. Is there anyway around this or is this laptop just built for Windows 8 and is unable to read from the old hdd at all?

So I saved it. I cant open it or naturally upload it to my website like I could with seven. Why is it saving with the additional suffix .dat example - logo.png.dat or logo.jpg.dat? I just recently changed my OS to Win 8.1 (from Win 7) and a java application I have (*.jar) is pointing to Python to open it. This is obviously wrong. If I download the latest version of Java and install it, the icon changes and the app works great. The "jar" externsion is associated with java. When the PC is rebooted a few days later, the icon is now the Python one and "jar" is now associated with Python.
How can I get it to "stick" that *.jar is associated with Java?
I fire up my laptop last night and install the patch Tuesday fixes. Afterwards I go to start Outlook 13; I click the tile and nothing happens. I say heck with it for the night, I still have Outlook 10 installed so I start that to get through the night. This morning I root around to see what is going on. I take a look in the program files directory and see that outlook.exe (along with a ton of other executable and dll's) have been renamed to outlook.exe.bak.
If you wonder why I have both 10 and 13 installed, that is how the '13 install left it. I purchased 10 late in its life and got the free upgrade to 13. When I installed 13 it left 10 out there.

After applying microsoft updates about a week ago, office stopped working. finally saw that executables were all renamed w/.bak ext. I tried renaming, just comes up with an error and still none of the office apps. work. I wanted to reinstall, but having problems finding key code, used several 3rd party key code finder apps. But will not find 0ffice 2013. shows office 2013 is installed in control panel/programs. I need access to my calendar desperately.

When i try to use the command on a folder, the folder just shows up as a normal hidden folder which can be easily viewed using show hidden items in view option. It looks as if every system file is not recognizing itself as a system file.
Also every folder in my system has appeared a desktop.ini and thumbs.db folder.
I am running Windows 8- 64 bit
How to make the 'Libraries' folder structure appear when doing a file open file save. In both case I can see the folders labeled Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. but I cannot see the Libraries folder.

I don't know how I did it but I got both Windows 7 File Recovery and Windows 8 File History active at the same time. I upgraded from Win 7 to 8 Pro and transferred settings so win 7 file recovery was already active, when I tried to turn on win 8 file recovery I got a message saying I cant because win 7 FR was active. So I deactivated win 7 FR then activated win 8 FR, for giggles I went back and turned on win 7 FR and it worked. Now I have both active, from what I have read this was not possible. Did I break my OS or am I just lucky?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn Windows 8.0 File History, it had the nasty habit of duplicating your library files on your backup ( in my case, my external USB backup drive ( Replica 2 Terabyte ). By DUPLICATING, I mean they get copied over and over and over again... This happens to ALL of them, even though you have not touched the majority of them for YEARS. (File History is suppose to copy them over the FIRST time, then copy a new copy with a new name (old name plus date) if you edit the file in any way). I turned of file indexing on ALL my drives, except my C: drive, to see if that would stop it ( this is recommended in many threads on other sites ).

If I right click on the folder and go to send to all I get is the dvd drive unless I shift right click first then a drop down of more selections appear but not send to compress. The SFX files unzips the contents to a folder on my hard disk (no problem), but then tries to run another program (installer.exe) that is located in the extracted folder.
The program fromm inside the SFX runs fine if I set the compatibility to XP manually, but the problem is that the the SFX extracts the files to a different location each time it is run.
Is there a global way to make a program (installer.exe) run in compatibility mode wherever it exists?
