Windows 8 Theme Patch Black Screen After Update
Mar 23, 2013i was just wondering if there has been an updated theme patch version witch fixes the blinking black screen after applying windows updates ?
Everytime i use any theme patcher on win 8 x64 it works fine until i do windows updates then it restarts ant the screen just blinks and its completely black after boot screen.
PC Log Off When Apply Any Theme
Apr 6, 2014I used uxthemepatcher but can't apply any theme on my pc. The installed theme shows at the "personalize" window but when I click to apply it, the computer log off and nothing happen, just the theme wallpaper is applied but no theme.

Printing When Using High Contrast Theme?
Sep 15, 2013I'm having to use a dark high contrast theme because when I look at normally it makes my eyes want to burn and I don't mean that sarcastically I mean that seriously my eyes start feeling like their burning when I'm staring at a screen that is so bright. So I've used the Microsoft high contrast black theme to make using my computer easier on my eyes however I'm experiencing a problem when I need to go and print something.
I'm printing out documents that are displayed in Internet Explorer and the problem is that the printed document comes out very faded almost as if the contrast is greatly reduced.And on the contrary, if I use the Microsoft high contrast white theme than the documents that I print from Internet Explorer come out printed very well with the same printer settings and all.
Is there anyway I can correct this short of having to use the high contrast white theme which just makes my eyes burn even more?

Win 8 Desktop Going To Blank Theme Color - Shortcuts Moved
Mar 27, 2014I've been having an ongoing issue with Windows 8.1 since I upgraded a few months back.
It's hard to explain but I'll try. Occasionally, say maybe every 20 minutes (have not timed it to see if it's consistent or not), I am working on the desktop and the whole screen will go purple (that's the theme color I chose) for a couple seconds, then when it comes back, my desktop shortcuts are moved to the middle of the screen. It's a bit infuriating as I use my shortcuts (folders, files, programs) quite a bit and would like them to stay where they are.

Nov 18, 2013Upgraded from Windows 8 (Windows 8 Pro x86 -> Windows 8.1 Enterprise x86) and I see web pages (all) like the attached screenshots.
This occur in Firefox and IE, in G. Chrome this DOESN'T occur.
Windows 7 Theme Sound Schemes In Windows 8?
May 9, 2013I noticed that the theme sounds have been removed in Windows 8 (though the folders are still there in the Windows folder, just empty). Yet, the seashore/sailing themes from Windows 7 maintain the sound schemes. I have tried saving these and they just disappear. I copied the Win 7 sounds into the the same location in Win 8, restart, it does nothing. The only way I've found this is by adding one sound at a time, importing, which would take forever for just one theme.
here is what to do:
1. Log in to Windows 7. Click Start, Run, regedit.
2. Go to HKEY Current User, AppEvents. Highlight AppEvents and click 'export'. I named it as Windows 7 Sounds Complete. At this point, I saved the default Win 8 sound scheme in a folder in case the regedit file nukes the Win 8 sounds.
3. Log in to Windows 8 / 8.1. Find the location of your regedit file, I saved it on the Win 7 desktop. Double click this, click yes.
Now, if you go to control panel, sounds, you will ALL the Windows 7 sound schemes there. These become present in Windows 7 themes that you use in Win 8/8.1.

Aug 30, 2013IE Metro tile is missing from my metro start screen. It's not in the 'all apps' list either. when I go to program default, it is set as the default browser. I went through all the checks in the tutorial on here, but at best, I can only get the desktop IE tile to pin to start. I would rather have the metro version tile on my start.

I know that Metro UI cannot be disabled and I don't mind keeping it, but surely if I want to be able to lock the kids account, so that they don't accidently mess up, I should be able to at least stop them from modifying app shortcuts and lockdown the Metro Start menu?
I currently have loads of apps, such as Admin tools, WinRAR etc.
If I setup the Metro UI to the apps I want, how do I stop them from removing/adding apps or modifying the menu?
Windows 8 Metro Screen Freeze
Jan 4, 2013I am having a problem where the Windows 8 Metro screen freezes and the tiles do not update or can not activate them with the mouse. Using the shift key and restart I am able to set the computer to safe mode which will then boot and get to the Metro screen. I then go and uninstall the latest program or app that was installed and it will work fine after rebooting in normal mode. The it will happen again a day or so later.

Jun 13, 2014I've just bought a new Dell desktop computer which came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. I like using the new Start menu (Metro) and want to avoid Desktop mode as much as possible now, to avoid confusion and flicking between the two modes repeatedly. My Windows boots into Start (Metro), as I want, and then I open an application, for example Firefox or Outlook. So far so good. However after closing any application, I'm returned to Desktop mode. I then have to click on the Windows logo in the bottom left to return to the new Start menu.
How to boot directly into Desktop mode, how to keep a desktop computer with a keyboard and mouse in Start (Metro) mode. Exiting an application should not return me to Desktop mode, it should return me to Start (Metro) mode.

But, for some reason, when I click it, nothing happens, this also happens with many other system related programs like device manager, sound etc. I always have to use control panel now to use these programs. Jul 22, 2012I have found myself more addicted to my laptop since I installed win 8 on it. Everything I read in the past about win 8 being more for touch screens I was like well I'm not going to upgrade my pc then but now that I have it i'm actually really liking it.
I like the whole metro side of win 8, I mean it really has me thinking. If I can have the same on all my devices I just may dump my Iphone and ipad. I'm assuming the apps on the desktop will be the same for the win 8 phone right? If that is the case, see you later apple I never cared for you much any way...
I have to be honest I don't like switching back to the desktop, I'm sure the desktop will be gone by win 9 or 10 once win eight takes off and third party software goes to the metro side.
One last thing I like to note is if Microsoft promotes win 8 for the phone, tablet and pc all together instead of saying win eight is for touch screens they blow this thru the roof!

Windows 8.1 - Metro / Modern UI Settings
Jun 1, 2014I'm on Windows 8.1 and I can't find this (metro/modern UI settings). Had made all of it pink at some point in the past, and don't use it much. Now I want to change it to a different colour because I plan to use it.
I open "Computer Settings" from the "charm bar", and for people making videos about it on Youtube, they have "Personalize" as the first option you see.
I can't find it. Clicking on Personalization inside the Modern UI opens up the regular Control Panel which doesn't have the modern bits in it.
When I do manage to open Personalization, it has only avatar, desktop and lock screen.
Just to clarify what I mean, I want to change the colour that's cerise/pink in the picture below.

Desktop Windows Acting Like Metro Snap
Nov 23, 2012Windows 8 Desktop. Somehow I have changed something and now my desktop windows will not re-size or move. When I initially open a program or browser it opens fine in a small window somewhere on the screen. As soon as i grab the title bar 2 outlined windows appear on screen in Yellow and Red. When I let go of the title bar the program snaps to one of the two positions, when I try to move the window it just keeps snapping back.
So the desktop programs now seem to be behaving as if they were Metro apps and displaying using Metro Snap. It is really bothersome. How I can revert back to normal Desktop operation?
Windows 8.1 Update - Remove Totally Metro From OS?
Feb 7, 2014Is it only me or do others experience a drastic slowdown of their PC after updating to 8.1? ever since I updated to 8.1 my laptop is slow and misbehaves in many and various ways.
It seems that the new update soon to be released is aimed at the metro users and if this is true then it is nothing short of infuriating.
My Desktop PC runs win 7 with classic shell and my laptop win 8.1 with classic shell. Any way to REMOVE totally metro from the OS? It keeps infringing whenever I open pictures etc.
