When I burn a disc it with nero it burns over the data ring to the end when i burn with imgburn it burns deep up to the data ring then shallow over the top of it. my disc's are dvd-r I have'nt changed them.the pc burned ok before.Iv done every thing i know cleaned, sent it back to factory settings. did asfc scan which was normal.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have USB external hard disc 320Gb that I use to try Windows 8 since Developer Preview until the latest PreRelease. I boot from this USB HDD to keep internal HDD intact and protected with end point encryption.
It went very well until at some point suddenly I cannot boot from it anymore. All the file is in perfect condition when accessed from other system.
I try to recover with Recovery disc, but found nothing. I delete bootmgr to force corrective action. But still problem not solved.
Later I read that Grub cannot boot if boot loader and file required for boot is beyond 137Gb (128x1024x1024x1024 bytes). But I never read that Windows has same limitation. Anyway I would like to prove that.
I find UltimateDefrag that can move certain files to beginning of the disc. I select bootmgr, boot folder, and Windows folder to be placed in front. It works. I can boot again from my external USB HDD.
I just wonder how to keep those file in 128GiB boundary, it won't happen again?

It won't play in the cd player in my truck. I get "bad cd/disc error" messages. At first, I thought it may have been a bad cd-r. Five cd-rs later, I am having the same problem. Not the cd player in my truck, either. Plays an mp3 cd I burned in XP just fine
I used WMP and EZ CD Audio Converter to burn the cds both with the same result. I'm stumped. The only difference I can see between the mp3s burned in XP and Windows 8 is the bitrate. And how do I change it if it is?
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro and have just installed an 250gb SSD and also have a 1tb HDD. I have put the OS and various programs onto the SDD. I want to be able to have all data, for all users, pointed to save onto the HDD. (I will then get a 1tb USB3 HDD to back up the 1tb HDD - next step!).
I am getting very confused about how to make sure all documents/pictures/music/videos automatically get saved onto the HDD, rather than defaulting to the SSD. I also have user accounts for the family and I ideally want all photos/videos/music (but not documents) in just one location, so I end up with don't multiple copies of the same files saved by each user; they should all be access the same files.
When I first got my new laptop I made and image using Asus backup restore but all it did was make a copy of the restore partition on the hard drive. Is there a way to make an image of what the computer is with all the data and programs there are installed? I had to do a restore and then I had to reinstall everything and reload all my data files. This took a long time to do. It would be so much easier to just have an image of everything just the way it is now.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI enabled File History, and when I returned to my computer this morning I found that it had created copies of 1.14TB of my 1.19TB of data on the backup drive I had specified. However, it seems like the process has stopped, as every time I click the "Run Now" button, no new data is copied. The file size of the folder on my backup drive is still 1.14TB. Is there anything I can do to ensure that File History backs up / copies all my data?

I just included the root of the volume as the only folder in the library. But File History just seems to ignore those libraries.

How can that be if the 400kb's of favorites is less than one-half of one mb? I wrongly put this question in the browsers and mail forum. Had one answer, sounded like they meant a certain minimum amount is always used up before you burn your stuff...I think. Or does it indicate I burned them incorrectly?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get my external hard drives setup from a freshly rebooted installed computer. I recently placed an external hard drive with all my back up files on my computer, but this drive is not going to be my main drive. I have two others I will be using as a main hdd and a backup drive that are brand new.
So, the question is, if I were to use a utility like the Windows 8.1 disk management feature to either delete the drive letter or even change it to another one, will that mess up the external hard drive or even lose data? Because until I transfer my files to my backup disk I am afraid of losing my only copy of my files.
Whenever I try to burn a video dvd or an ISO file through Nero burning ROM or Nero Express, at the time of giving burn command it shows cancelled by the user where as burning data DVD or CD through the same procedure is no problem at all. This problem had started with Nero 2014 Platinum v15.0.03400 Final & is still persisting with Nero 2014 Platinum v15.0.03500 Final, Nero 2014 Platinum v15.0.02500 Final shows no such behaviour.
Also some patches to make some apps work do not open properly but if I try the same one in safe mode they run smoothly I've tried to run them by putting the anti virus & smart screen off but all in vain.The rest of the apps in the Nero suite are working absolutely fine. I'm using windows 8 Pro 64 bit version with i7 3rd generation processor & 16 gb Ram.
I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 with a DVD RW drive listed as "HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GU70N" and I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 14. When I tried to burn a Video DVD after DVD authoring I get a warning saying "The inserted CD/DVD could not be detected". I tried other software too. They don't seem to detect the DVD too.

In Windows 8.1 they removed option to create bootable DVD/BluRay recovery. Only USB drive left.
I bought new laptop with recovery partition and I want to move backup to DVD's/BluRay. How can I do that? I don't want to do backup of backup. I want to recovery directly from DVD's/BluRay.
So using of tools, which backup this recovery parition isn't solution. Than I have to restore partition and from partition restore system. I tried backup on usb and burn all files to disc, but BluRay didn't became bootable. USB was.
I Integrated windows 8 32Bit & 64Bit together with 32bit setup file, but when I want install windows 8 32bit on the 64bit windows show me this error : "Use the other installation disc that says 64-bit". there is a way for solve this problem? mean can I have 2 setup file in DVD root?

Re installed Windows 8 after booting with another hard drive with winXP, worked fine for sometime, then it failed again displaying the same error messages. Been using this system since long, but this has never happened before. I have reinstalled again by the same procedure, but always wary of the same problem happening again.

When I try to set the destination location by clicking CHANGE in Rip settings/More options/Rip music to this location, nothing happens. I can't set a location. When I click the Rip CD button, I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted."
The Media Player sees the CD and can play the tracks from the CD, so it's not that it can't find the CD.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my computer about a month ago and I have noticed that 2 or 3 times a week it freezes up for 15-20 minutes or more, and the Disk usage is at 100% on the performance monitor. I checked the system error logs and found that the Bonjour service from apple had a critical error when it froze. I then disabled the service from running and computer ran fine for a week or so then started freezing again. I have ran disk optimizer, defrag, and virus scans with no success to fixing the problem. On the processes tab of the performance monitor it will show a few different processes using the most disk i/o. Windows Installer, Windows Module Installer Worker, System, and few others I cant remember right now.
Side note: this problem happens at any time with 0 programs up and running or 10 programs. I have 16 GB of memory so its not a memory problem. Just hope its something that can be fixed and I didnt just waste a bunch of money on a crap machine.
I have a secomdary drive with all of my games and it is at 100% usage even though read and write speeds are at 0 each. I will put a few pictures in here.

My pc is a hp pavilion 64 bit desktop computer model # P6- 2220t it is 5 months old. It originally came with windows 7 then I upgraded to windows 8. I went ahead and used windows 8 to create an image of my hard disc and store it on a usb external hard drive I also made a repair disc.
Everything went well the pc backed up on scheduled and doing well in backing up. My big problem is this I tried to boot from the repair disc but it won't I looked at the bios but it is different from the type of bios that I am familiar.
I have a system that froze and I have been struggling with for days. Long story short, Lenovo Twist with solid state hard drive and no optical disc drive. I woke up last week and had a black screen. So I rebooted and went through the steps to recover (not 12 after a couple of days of free time I had to force the recovery with f10 and then I could only get the reset windows option to come up wanting me to insert my recovery media.
I don't have any. Windows 8 was preinstalled so I don't have the key. Yes it was visible on the system but that's not an option now and without a optical disc I couldn't burn a recovery disc.
After arguing with Lenovo, Staples, and Microsoft about warranties etc. I want to just get my system running. I want to buy windows 8 and install from a stick or external optical drive right? I cannot just download to the stick and insert into a usb slot. I cannot restore from a factory (Microsoft) CD if I bought the external drive.
