Then i had to download windows 8.1 (not from disc) and then it started downloading normally and then all of a sudden this "Failure configuring windows features Reverting changes" popped up and then i just waited and waited, i waited for about a few hours then i gave up and decided turning it restarting it but it came back and again and again i could go to the password the sign would just pop back up i tried pressing f8 and f9.

I have an Asus VivoTab Smart that comes with Windows 8, and before I can do the 8.1 upgrade, I have to install all 112 updates. This was going just fine until after it rebooted, and now it's been stuck on the "Failure configuring Windows updates, Reverting changes" screen for about the past 12+ hours. I restarted it a couple of times by holding down the power button, but it comes right back to the same screen after the Asus splash screen. Were this a laptop, I know exactly how to fix it (go to Advanced Recovery Options), but since it's a new tablet that I haven't yet connected its Bluetooth keyboard to, I'm basically stuck. I can't even boot to a flash drive because that requires a keyboard to get to the boot options.I don't have a keyboard attached to it and because the OS isn't loaded (can't get the Charms bar so I can restart it that way or boot into Safe Mode or anything.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI attempted to update from windows 8 to windows 8.1, and it said that I need to finish all my other updates first. So I did that, and I left for a while (an hour or 2) and it was STILL UPDATING. I got intimate and shut the computer down using the power button and turned it back on only to be met by a screen that said "Failure configuring updates, reverting changes." I waited longer then before and it was just stuck there! I guess you can consider it frozen, but I can still change the brightness and the volume and the circle thing is still spinning. I can't access anything, no start menu no nothing, So my laptop is useless.
I've read online that I was supposed to wait longer, and that I should have done all the updates at once. But what has been done cant be undone, and now I need to get past this update screen. How do I undo the updates? I've tried safe mode and restoring it but it just takes me back to where I was before. If you need my model number or whatever, then tell me. I have an HP Laptop with Windows 8.
I recently finished reimaging my HP Laptop with the factory Windows 8 image found on the HP recovery discs.
What happened is i wanted to update the computer to Windows 8.1 so opened Windows Update and installed all 111 updates relating to Net Framework 3.5 and Windows 8 System/Security.
When i restart the computer after a while of "Configuring Updates" it changes "Failure to Configure Windows Updates, Reverting Changes. Do not turn off your computer" and continues even though the computer self restarts multiple times.
Ive tried reinstalling the OS using the recovery partition and trying Windows Update again but it still has the same problem.
I purchased a new ASUS LAPTOP which came with windows 8 installed. When i tried to restart after installing Gtalk i got this message.
"Failure configuring windows updates. reverting changes. do not turn off your computer ".
I got this on last friday i.e the 6th of june, ever since i am not able to do anything with my laptop. I don't have windows 8 dvd as well. How do I reboot it?
Model number : Asus 15634 Laptop Intel Core i3 .
I also tried pressing the power button for 15 secs , still no luck. Tried f8 f9 and windows + r and windows+ X keys no luck.
After a BSOD and utter failure to boot (presumably a critical OS file damaged) I ran the recovery tools for a total factory reset.
Connected to the internet and worked for an hour or two, then tried a reboot. Windows update had 104 updates to process. It did them, then "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer"
This should take half an hour. After 90 minutes it has rebooted 5 or 6 times. It keeps reverting to the same "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer" message. Looks like it might want to reboot through each of those 104 updates.
I'm going to repeat the factory reset and the FIRST thing I will do is disable updates. I'm going to see how long I can work without any updates.
I am currently having an issue on my laptop at the moment where it's stuck in an infinite loop of 'reverting changes' after having tried to update and failed at 30%, I have done some reading at ways to boot into safe mode however it would appear windows 8 doesn't give me the chance.
I do not have a copy of my original windows 8 disc and am at a loss!
I have tried spamming F4, F8, F10 buttons and none are allowing me to enter boot mode.
I just bought new Asus Vivotab Smart Windows 8 tablet, after the very first windows update it failed to install some of the updates, and then after the reboot I am now stuck with the message "Failure configuring Windows updates, reverting changes".
It never gets any further than this, it never reverts, I have left it running for an entire day and have restarted several times.
This is a tablet, so there is no keyboard so I cannot press any F keys to get into recovery mode, and no CD to boot from etc.
I have installed the updates for the above, both with automatic updates on and off.
It gets to 15% then fails
How do i get them to configure
In Windows8 sl-SI, I have no option Add features to Windows. I think it is locked. Is it possible to unlock this feature?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the control panel, under System and Security, there is a section called "Add features to Windows 8". It then asks if I want to let Windows 8 take over my computer.
View 5 Replies View Relatedif i install Windows 8.1 and do not activate it, what are the blocked features and limited access that i have?
I'm thinking about installing Windows 8.1 and keep it until a activation method comes out, so i would like to know the possible consequences of doing so.
Just like the title says, when I'm in the control panel I clicked on the Turn Windows Features on and off. A pop up menu comes up but it's blank. It used to have a list of items with a check box next to them. I searched the internet and can't come up with anything. I waited a while for the menu to pop but no list came up after a half hour.

Also, I have 3 monitors attached. The main Monitor displays the error, while the right monitor remains at the desktop and the left monitor shows a distorted blue screen. (Not sure if it matters..)
I have a laptop with windows 8, and everytime (or almost everytime, about 4/5 of the times) when I start/restart it, it says that it's configuring windows, please do not shut down your computer. This takes about 20 minutes each time and is really annoying.
Also, I'm not sure this happens all the time, but the first time this happend I just sat by my computer and waited. There I saw that first it was configuring, then when that got to 100%, it said "Configuration failed", then it said "Restarting" and started all over again, but the 2nd time it finished successfully and the computer started.
Since then, I haven't bothered sitting by my laptop and waiting for it while it updates, so I go do something else. So I don't know if that "Configuration failed" thing happens everytime or only that time.
I have made a video to show all the features that are new to Windows 8.1 (Blue). This is the latest build that has been leaked recently. It brings some nice features like an improvement to the Snap-View and a feature called "Kiosk-mode". Everything is explained in the video. if I sometimes forget the words and things are hard to understand, because obviously English isn't my first language.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, since yesterday, Windows 8.1 tries to boot, then gets halfway through, shows a sad face for a second, and then restarts. It does this again and again. Just get the message "Failure configuring Windows updates. Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer" then "Configuring Windows updates, 30% complete. Don't turn off your computer".
Then it boots, does the same thing again.
I've tried booting from the install media, but Refresh doesn't work, nor restarting in safe mode. Weirdly, pressing F2 to load BIOS, which always used to work, no longer does, it just continues trying to load Windows.
I've got an oldish PC, around 4/5 years old, with Windows 8 installed. Its got a fairly decent processor (at the time), a Q9550. Intel DP43TF motherboard.
After several replacements and repairs in my machine, I am wondering if my settings are still correct...
I would like to use my 32GB SSD as a RAID0 (I believe) caching device, to speed up the boot process and frequently used apps.
In the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Option ROM, I created a RAID0-volume of 29,8GB, then went to install OS.
In the BIOS, I had to boot in AHCI-mode, or else I couldn't see the 2TB HDD to install Windows 7 to... (in RAID-mode, it could only detect 29,8GB of Unallocated Space)
However, now I have Windows 8 installed (clean install from 7), and in Disk Management, I see my SSD as a Standard Drive, with MBR and 29,82GB of Unallocated Space.
How do I setup this SSD device to act as it is supposed to act? Do I format it, partition it, make it Active, make it a Dynamic Disk? Or is it not possible since I've installed Windows in BIOS AHCI-mode?
I have a Gateway laptop running Windows 8. I have an auto diagnostics program called Auto Enginuity that I have "add ons" purchased for, when I type to put in the feature unlock key, after a couple days it will no longer be activated. Then when I installed the 8.1 update it will no longer accept the activation key, I can type the key in and it does not hold it. On the same note, I'm running Microsoft Streets and Trips gps software and when I go to update it,it updates like normal but after the update it still says update needed, like it doesn't "hold" any updates or key codes that I install.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to use my license key to Add Features to Windows 8.1 but then I got that message.
It didn't say that when I first did it!
Extracting features from 'WindowsWinSXS' or 'DVDSourceSXS' I have some plans for doing this but they are not successful till now.
So my question is: Is there any possibility for creation of some tool or guide, with which can I be able for example to extract one full feature from Windows 7 or Windows 8 and add to another build or another SKU and similar relations.
My idea comes directly from that what I want to install Internet Explorer 10 RTM on Release Preview. I think that if I successfully rip of all files connected with IE10 from Win8 RTM and put them in one folder. After with some modding in manifest files and using of 'dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:specifid IE10rtm folder' switch to integrate in Release Preview.
The programs and features box is not at the bottom of my screen where can it be ...
