Extracting features from 'WindowsWinSXS' or 'DVDSourceSXS' I have some plans for doing this but they are not successful till now.
So my question is: Is there any possibility for creation of some tool or guide, with which can I be able for example to extract one full feature from Windows 7 or Windows 8 and add to another build or another SKU and similar relations.
My idea comes directly from that what I want to install Internet Explorer 10 RTM on Release Preview. I think that if I successfully rip of all files connected with IE10 from Win8 RTM and put them in one folder. After with some modding in manifest files and using of 'dism /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:specifid IE10rtm folder' switch to integrate in Release Preview.
In the control panel, under System and Security, there is a section called "Add features to Windows 8". It then asks if I want to let Windows 8 take over my computer.
if i install Windows 8.1 and do not activate it, what are the blocked features and limited access that i have?
I'm thinking about installing Windows 8.1 and keep it until a activation method comes out, so i would like to know the possible consequences of doing so.
Just like the title says, when I'm in the control panel I clicked on the Turn Windows Features on and off. A pop up menu comes up but it's blank. It used to have a list of items with a check box next to them. I searched the internet and can't come up with anything. I waited a while for the menu to pop but no list came up after a half hour.
Here is an example AS you can see, I tried to change the setting from public to private because this is a desktop not a laptop, and what do I see when I return? It added duplicate entries for everything! WTH? I can remove some but not all, like utorrent I can't remove any of those but wth?
My windows 8 ultra books has been showing failure configuring window features for nearly hours and I can't swipe or do anything with it, this happened after the window updates happened, I don't know what do any more, I switched it off and then turned it on, but it's still ones back failure configuring window feature reverting changes.
I have made a video to show all the features that are new to Windows 8.1 (Blue). This is the latest build that has been leaked recently. It brings some nice features like an improvement to the Snap-View and a feature called "Kiosk-mode". Everything is explained in the video. if I sometimes forget the words and things are hard to understand, because obviously English isn't my first language.
is it generally better to tweak, disable and hide Windows features via GPEdit (Group Policy Editor) or RegEdit (Registry Editor) given the Windows version has both for the user to choose from?
See in the picture below , the program and features in control panel does not show all of my programs. It worked good in last week.i have about 30 programs but it show 16!!
i just got a new MSI Laptop and i downloaded some games from steam and you know that kind of stuff. Then i had to download windows 8.1 (not from disc) and then it started downloading normally and then all of a sudden this "Failure configuring windows features Reverting changes" popped up and then i just waited and waited, i waited for about a few hours then i gave up and decided turning it restarting it but it came back and again and again i could go to the password the sign would just pop back up i tried pressing f8 and f9.
Any way to update the HyperV Client within Win8 Pro to Server 2012 standard of features?Primarily I'd like to use a Win8 client machine to host a VM with RemoteFX (DX11 GPU) support to another client machine, within a small office environment.
Actually I've just looked up the possible answer for this here: [URL] ....
Unfortunately it seems that Win8 Pro and below does not support the hosting of this feature. Any way to bypass this limitation?
My laptop is 2 days old and I went to do a windows update which I had to do and just says 'failure configuring windows features. reverting changes, don't not turn off computer' this also is happening with my other laptop I think it's a bit of a joke that it doesn't work on a brand new laptop..
I have a Gateway laptop running Windows 8. I have an auto diagnostics program called Auto Enginuity that I have "add ons" purchased for, when I type to put in the feature unlock key, after a couple days it will no longer be activated. Then when I installed the 8.1 update it will no longer accept the activation key, I can type the key in and it does not hold it. On the same note, I'm running Microsoft Streets and Trips gps software and when I go to update it,it updates like normal but after the update it still says update needed, like it doesn't "hold" any updates or key codes that I install.
Recently my mom visited a website that tricked her. She downloaded and installed some stuff she didn't need. I removed the stuff but noticed some other problems. I'm not sure if these are new problems caused by the useless stuff she installed.
Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features is not showing all installed programs. Oddly, the only listed installed programs have names that start with the letter M. 14 programs are listed. See picture. Start Menu -> All Programs -> I suspect some programs are missing. I have a Win 7 style Start menu because I am using IObit's Start Menu 8 program. Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools was empty. I fixed that by using SFC /SCANNOW.
I tried using System Restore to go back to an earlier date, but that didn't work. In the process of trying to do that I discovered that BitDefender Internet Security 2014 doesn't get along with Windows 8.1's System Restore feature. I uninstalled BitDefender and successfully went back to an earlier date but still had the same problems with missing programs. I undid the restore. I created a new Windows user account. The new account had the same issues: missing programs in the Start menu and Programs and Features menu.
On Windows 8.1, when I open Programs and Features in Control Panel, it does not show all of my installed programs. I am trying to remove some programs and they are not listed.
