View 1 RepliesIt's a Sony Vaio touchscreen laptop i5 that came with Windows 8, upgraded to 8.1 about a year ago. Yesterday, the buttons in the available wireless connections stopped working. When you click on an available connection, they no longer provide the drop down that offers connect or disconnect.
Everything is up to date...connecting to LAN works fine.
I purchased a new laptop with Windows 8 about a month ago. SyncUP was included in the software. When I open any of my pictures I receive the message, "SyncUp has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I want to use this program, What do I do now?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my new XPS 13 (L321X) to windows 8. Webcam central stopped working, It is getting detected in device manager. I tried installing the drivers again from dell site without any result. Whenever I open webcam it says close the other streaming video application to start video though I don't see any other video application going on in my system.
View 13 Replies View RelatedAbout two weeks ago when I right-clicked in the bottom-left corner there would be a menu that would pop up. Now it just moves my mouse a little bit and dosen't do anything.
This menu was really useful...It held things like My Computer, Run, Command Prompt etc.
I updated to the windows 8.1 preview but it was working when I did that. about a week after I got the preview it did this.
If I try and save anything in Documents, Pictures. Music or Videos I get the message : "Document .library-ms" is no longer working. It says I can delete these files - the files stored will not be affected . But I need these libraries to store stuff...
View 2 Replies View Relatedtoday I was makeing an essey in microsof office and suddenly my mouse and keyboard. stopped working, replugging the devices didn't worked (did it for 5 times ) , after this I tried to restart the pc I found out that rr button doesn't do anything , after I stopped the power going to pc and open power + pc they worked for only a few seconds and then stopped again . After a few force shutdown( by stopping the power) the pc closes itself after the windos 8 img dissapear . I have a desktop dual core 3.1, 4gb ram , mouse is usb and the keyboard is with Ps/2 .
Update : after waiting 30 min I reopend it, all worked , but after approximate 3 min pc shuted down by itself.
For some reason the Windows 7 style desktop snap has stopped working, I can still snap a metro app to the side of my monitor but not an ordinary program like note pad. I used to either drag the window to the side of the screen or press Windows Key and an arrow to snap it to the left or the right.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I try clicking the start button, it doesn't work. I move my mouse to the right side of the screen, and the bar doesn't come up. Same with moving my mouse to the top left corner of the screen. I checked the properties by right clicking the task bar. The corner navigation options are checked off to show them when I move my mouse to the different corners.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout two weeks ago I began to notice strange behavior on my PC which made me think it may be a virus. Some examples:
1. When I'm online a message window frequently appears stating "internet explorer has stopped working"
2. Some websites do not display adverts on the page. I've attached a screenshot from youtube to illustrate what I'm referring to.
3. Some webpages will not load. I keep seeing "webpage under maintenance at this time". This is typical for websites at certain times but to see it every time I try to access is suspicious.
4. I use Hotmail and typically the first time I start it up in the day I notice that the first email I open causes the entire page to go blank as if it erases everything on it, it then reopens with all of my emails listed and finally the email I began to read will reopen. This only happens after I boot my system and open the first email. This will not happen on any other computer.
5. I seem to be having issues installing certain programs. They won't install citing various reasons such as outdated files, incompatible etc. These were all working flawlessly prior to reformatting my system.
6. I'm unable to post messages even though I'm logged in. When I type a message I see the timer cycling but it never posts my messages, it's as if it's stuck in a loop or frozen.
Having felt that a system reformat was in order I did just that not more than a week ago. Everything was reinstalled and updated. Once all the Windows 8 files were installed I began to notice the exact same problems surfacing immediately. I'm currently using Win 8 with IE 10. 16 GB RAM, 64 bit OS. The computer itself is an HP and a year old.
I have windows 8 pro in my desktop. When i started to run nfs mw 1 it opened but while loading for gameplay it stops working and windows says that there is a problem to work the program properly,so i will have to close it.I have tried for all compatibility mode but its still does not work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I updated my laptop and when it was finished updating the keyboard no longer worked. Before the update it worked fine and I had no problems. I restarted it several times and restored it but still nothing. Now I am stuck using the on screen keyboard which is difficult. I also went to try and fix it using device manager but it wasn't listed.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince the last Windows updates a couple of days, I frequently get "OneDrive has stopped working" messages.
Running Win 8.1 with Update 1 and all available updates.
Tried to use the picture password and nothing happens....just sits there. Even tried to change the pic and got an enrollment failure error....
View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows has become unstable. The action center put up a flag that says "Firmware Linkage Driver has stopped working." My computer is a Toshiba C655-S5132. Upgraded to Win8 64 bit several months ago.

I can access volume mixer, recording devices and playback devices but as soon as I click properties I get an error "windows shell common dll has stopped working" checking for solutions. No solutions are found.
In the event log I have this:

I have updated the sound drivers and this does not solve the issue.
I have run sfc /scannow and get this error: Windows Resources Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. I checked the CBS.log and mmsys.cpl is in the log:

There are also lots of other files with errors. I think this was caused by my faulty SSD and when I re-imaged back to my new drive, these errors are still present.
Do I need to re-install windows or can I repair install without losing my profile and data? I'd rather repair than re-install.
We purchased 15 Surface Pro 2 tablets for our School Administrators. Touch did not work for 3 tablet 'out of the box'...or so I thought. Since receiving them, touch has stopped working on 5 more. Each time Microsoft has replaced the device without question so I assumed this was a known issue. However I am now pretty sure it is happening during my imaging process. I am using SCCM 2012, via PXE and/or USB. The Task Sequence completes successfully and all drivers appear to install. I am using the driver package from Microsoft. The stylus works but not touch. I can't complain about the support MS is providing since they replace the device every time but I am sure there must be a fix I have not tried.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 8, 64-bit, IE 10 (uses 32-bit) and am using the free version of AVG anti-virus. I noticed that IE will crash (IE has stopped working and needs to restart) on a daily basis. I am using an HP laptop G62-340US. I have IE set to update automatically.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing some minor issues with my Graphics Card. Let me say first that this is an old graphics card, which was however updated to Windows 8. Today, when I updated the computer to 8.1, I came across a "Outdated Driver" error.
On this computer, I have a ATI (AMD) Radeon 2400HD Graphics. I did do a DxDiag and it is available here.
Just the other day i was having problems with the Temporary profile problem, but by the end of the day i finally fixed it. But i also deleted my user account so i found this program that will restore deleted data, it was in trial mode so i only allowed me to download 1 Gb so i got what I thought was the most important like App data, contacts, desktop, documents, KAG, and all of the little files at the end of the screen.
I put all of the things in my account once the problem was fixed. Then every time i open my windows explorer and i try to open anything it says that windows explorer has crashed and then it restarts.
Today I just installed Windows 8 enterprise from Windows 7 Home Premium, I had to make a clean install because they didnt let me do the upgrade from Win7 Home premium.
When I ended installing Windows 8, I checked the device manager, and showed me that AMD Radeon HD 6800M was not working.
My video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6870M.
All my system information can be found here: file:///F:/System%20Information.html
Have a 32" HD TV which I use as my Primary Monitor(connected using HDMI) and a Lenova 17" as a Secondary (connected with vga cable). I shut the desktop down, unplugged the 17" to use on another pc. When I reconnect the 17" to my main desktop it now does not pick up
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Classic Shell on my Windows 8.1 laptop and i kinda didn't like it too much so i uninstalled it. But it hasn't uninstalled completely, when i try running setup again, and choosing the 'remove' option it doesn't uninstall! Anyways, that isn't really the problem, the thing is, when i press 'ctrl alt del', it doesn't go to task manager, i tried right clicking on the start icon and clicking on task manager but that didn't work either, so i had to go to start menu and search for task manager and then finally it came up.
I'm wondering if there is any correlation between classic shell and 'ctrl al del' not working, any way of getting it to work again.
I have a similar problem with EI 11 on my PC with Windows 8.1, which is fully updated. It happens whenever I try to "Save as" a download or to print a web page.
So far I have reset it, opened it as administrator and turned off smart screen filter - to no effect.
Should I try to disable EI from the Uninstall Programs - Turn Windows on or off?
I'm not sure if it's related to the fact that I just installed Windows Media Center but whenever I try to open a Library folder like Video or Music I get this error.
If I manually go to C:Users[username]Videos it opens the folder just fine.
I have been happily using Windows 8, until today. Out of nowhere I cannot install/update anything (I always get "windows installer has stopped working error", I cannot run any metro apps (they simply crash), and windows itself seems unstable. Is there any other solution, other than formatting harddrive and re-installing everything?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been always a Microsoft person. But I have tried any and all fixes to try and get internet explorer to stop coming up with internet explorer has stopped working will search for a problem.
I as of today have disabled it and are using another browser that does not have this bug in it. I am having no trouble with the browser I am using, and it does not stop working like ie 11. I do not think you should have to go threw all hoops and loops to get this to work correctly. Microsoft should come up with something that works correctly all the time and you do not have to check add ins, disable other items or what not.
My autoplay has stopped working on both my sd cards and my dvd drive - this happened in win 8 - and has remained even though I have upgraded to 8.1 - I have set the autoplay settings to ask every time - but still nothing pops up ? - I don't ever remember switching it off ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday I came home and my computer wouldn't start anymore. nothing happenened so I figured it was my "feeding" (in case this is a weird translation: what I mean is the power distribution)
So I bought a new one, hooked up all the plugs, well not all.
Computer works again, but my hdmi cable stopped working on my tv. I tried hooking up my monitor (which normally runs on dvi) but that also didn't work.
Is it possible i forgot a plug?
so basically from one day to another my wireless connection has stopped working...i can only connect to my wireless by using an ethernet cable..I've tried rebooting my whole computer to factory settings...and it hasnt worked..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my lock screen set up to display a slideshow instead of turning off the monitor. Intermittently, upon returning to my computer and clicking the mouse I receive an error that states the lock screen content server has stopped working and needs to close. Upon acknowledging the error by clicking ok or whatever the button says the error goes away and all appears to be well. This issue doesn't appear to actually effect the slideshow. For me this is mostly just an annoyance but it is something I would like to solve. Upon reviewing my event log I can identify two potentially related errors. One is with LockScreenContentServer.exe and the other is with LogonUI.exe. Both appear to have a common denominator with nvwgf2umx.dll. I have a GTX 670 installed, running the Nvidia 340.52 drivers, which are the current WHQL drivers. I have windows 8.1 64 installed as well as all current windows updates. I also have Classic Shell installed. Currently my lock screen is set to not require a password to log back in. This error has occurred with a password required as well. I also only have a local account established instead of linking to a Microsoft account.
