Debugging :: BSOD - Crashed When Scan For Hardware Change
Nov 16, 2013
My computer freezes every time I look for hardware changes in device manager. First time I got the BSOD (CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT) was when i tried to reinstall my on-board LAN card. Since then every time i open device manager and look for hardware changes it freezes on me. At the begining i thought was a problem with my motherboard , but I sent it back to ASUS and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Have tried reinstalling windows several times without any success. Other than that, the computer is working perfectly.

I tried to get the dump files from the BSOD but i havent get it since the last time i reinstall the system. When it freezes i can get the BSOD right away, sometimes it can take more than 30 to come up after it freezes.
This is everything i have connected to the computer. I dont know if this is a software or hardware related issue.
My Windows 8.1 box keeps crashing in device manager upon any "refresh." For example, scanning for hardware changes, installing/uninstalling something, or updating anything. I've gone through and updated any drivers that I saw were old, but no joy. Uploading the SF Diag output as well.
My pc froze when I was browsing the web. It gave a blue screen with a sad face emoticon saying it had encountered a problem and needed to restart.
Upon restarting it tried to repair / restore but crashed again and restarted again. I have tried booting to a USB loaded Windows 8.1 pro setup. The Win 8 "setup fish" appears however it doesn't actually enter setup. After a moment the "setup fish" disappears and the screen goes black for a moment then a message is displayed on a blue screen saying File:windowssystem32ootwinload.exe could not be loaded. I wondered if this means it is still trying to boot the OS so i disabled the hard drives in bios just leaving USB but Windows 8 setup still won't boot and I still get the same error message.
My motherboard is an ASUS p7p55d. At the moment I am just using my phone to write this.
A few days ago my comp randomly crashed while I was playing a game. It gave an error "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (NETwew00.sys)".
Every time I turn my laptop on it gives me that error, but I can use it find in safe mode. Also found out, my comp crashes when ever i connect to any wifi.
I've recently purchased an MSI Dragon Edition. It started off the bat with top notch performance, no fps drops, no nothing, just pure perfection. Up until one day, it decided to completely crash on me, it got stuck on the loading BIOS screen and refused to redirect me to the log in page where i could access my desktop. After taking it to maintenance and formatting it from scratch, I've started noticing some subtle differences in comparison to the way it used to perform, performance drop, fps drop in game, slower powering on time, takes longer to shut down, not recognizing certain USB input such as my hard drive (not all the time).
About a week ago, while playing a game, my laptop crashed to the blue screen, with the error code displayed at the bottom telling me that the issue was "driver power state failure", after doing some research about the blue screen issue, people on other forums were discussing how the user should perform an SFD scan check from the CMD prompt.
After Scanning, my prompt informed me that I had multiple issues regarding my software files, "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."
From the Scan, there were in total 27 errors to report as shown below. I'm also currently fully, thoroughly scanning my laptop for any viruses using Avast! Antivirus, hoping it might resolve my issue.
Errors Found: 2014-05-03 05:57:37, Info CBS SQM: Failed to start upload with file pattern: C:WINDOWSservicingsqm*_std.sqm, flags: 0x2 [HRESULT = 0x80004005 - E_FAIL] 2014-05-03 05:57:37, Info CBS SQM: Failed to start standard sample upload. [HRESULT = 0x80004005 - E_FAIL]
I have installed windows 8 64bit today and it has crashed twice already to the point I had to press the power button until it turned off.
The first time the screen just went blank (music was still playing) but I couldn't do anything. About an hour after the above the screen went on again and came back on and got a message saying the GPU driver crashed and then recovered. so I upgraded the graphics driver to NVidia 326 driver.
The second time the music stopped and got a awful tone (continuously) and muse cursor wouldn't move. It has been installed less than 6 hours.
I use NVidia GeForce gtx460 with NVidia 326 driver. connected to Samsung monitor via HDMI.
When I was resseting my windows 8 crashed. It was about 98% done. So thinking that it will just be my old virus infested windows I tried to return to my windows 8 though it turned me to the settings page. I tried getting to one of my restore points it wiped them too. Windows wiped everything. now i dont have a key or cd to reset m(i got windows 8 100% legit)
I have a laptop that crashed over the weekend. I need to do a restore on the computer but before I do I need to get the documents and pictures off of the drive. I've taken the drive out of the laptop and plugged it into my Windows 7 desktop using an external USB bay. I hear the computer detect the drive but it will never show up as a drive. If I look in Computer Management it shows up in there.
My Windows 8 just crashed, and now all I have is a black screen. The first error that came up was the "ntoskrnl.exe", and after that my computer would't start. I tried everything, like refreshing and restarting the computer. The last thing that I tried to do was to completely restart the computer; I created a new user and everything, but as I logged in windows 8 wouldn't start, and a black screen would come up. My computer is running fine like the mouse and the "ctrl-delete" are also working.
For some reason my PC crashed and i had to re install win 8 i used the activation key to in stall all OK but when i tried to install media centre i was told i had to activate o/s first so i went to action centre to activate but it is saying i cannot use this key it is for upgrade not clean install.
Current Setup/programs that affected this issue: RDP Stardock Fences 2 Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition
Basically I RDPed into my home PC, tried to play some Street Fighter 4. Things worked, all was happy, and the Gods rejoiced. Until I returned home. Upon trying to log into my PC the desktop showed only partially complete (by this I mean the icons were there but they were in the process of moving to the "fence"). Explorer gave me the wonderful wait symbol and I could not interact with my PC. Fast forward 10-15 minutes, still no change. CTRL-ALT-DELETE worked kind of: it opened up after a few moments/minutes. From there I rebooted thinking that would fix it. Nope.
Eventually I got into the cycle where the desktop would load, fences would load, explorer would lock up, I'd click my mouse, explorer would crash and restart. I uninstalled fences, everything worked... except the icons. Reinstalled fences, same problem as before, crashing and whatnot. Uninstalled it again. And that's where I'm at currently.
I've attached a couple images, the first one shows the current state of the icons. Some have their icons, some don't. All are valid shortcuts. I'm a bad person and I have actual programs on my desktop and even those have the generic white page icon.
The second screenshot shows the file in its directory, with properties and change icon. No matter how many times I do that, nothing will change.
I've spent a couple hours googling and my first thought was it was the icon cache so I decided to nuke it (I found some instructions on these sites with copy/paste commands, it was so easy even a cave man could do it).
So I'm currently frustrated beyond all belief at my PC on a night when I just wanted to come home, watch some movies and play a couple games after an annoying day at work. Instead I spent all evening trying to fix this problem and getting no where. Woe is me?
I should add without Fences (and I removed all my other customization stuff and nuked anything that integrated with the right click shell thingy which I can't remember what it's called) my machine is running nice and smoothly (so far) aside from the icons.
trying to set up my sky go on windows 8.1 pro i have downloaded the silverlight as they requested then i keep getting silverlight plug in has crashed..
can sky go be set up on windows 8? what do i need to stop it from crashing?
My Windows 8 installation crashed this AM and the repair tools couldn't fix it. I ran the "Reset" option, which keeps my settings and data but reinstalls Windows 8. Well, things seemed to go OK, but none of my settings were kept (I had to reconfigure Outlook 2013, etc... and I'm getting this error now, which is preventing me from installing Acronis, Nero and VDownloader.
My laptop hp pavilion g6 has been trying to update and it has a blue background saying "Configuring Windows Updates 12% complete" it's has been like this for almost 2 hours now I tried to remove the battery but when it boot it comes back to the update.
Internet Explorer Stopped working Date 5/14/2014 6:49 PM Faulting Application Path:C:Program Files (x 86)Internet Explorer .e x e Problem signature Problem Event Name :APP CRASH
I've been googling and can only find info on how to get your product key if the system is running. What if the hard drive dies? and i replace the drive? Do I have to get recovery disks from the manufacturer like samsung etc?
Windows has been crashed and i am not able to access any windows apps as in screenshot, but able to use another softwares. Also, file explorer isn't working properly. I tried repairing but i am getting error. I might need to reboot anytime.
So, yesterday is the first time this has happened. It has never happened before. The first time it happened yesterday, I Was watching some TV shows online, and then I got the PAGE_FAULT(...) error code.
I tried running my Anti_Malware scanner to see if that could pick something up. It crashed again just as it started.
So I tried Advanced SystemCare. Again, same problem.
And it just keeps happening.
I tried refreshing my computer to see if that would do anything, but it crashed during that too.
I ran the SF Diagnostic program and I have the .DMP files (But I can't seem to upload them. Maybe I'm trying to upload the wrong ones, I don't know.)
Anyway, these are the specs of my system. HP ENVY DV-7 7270CA (less than 8 months old) running Windows 8 (as I wasn't able to update to 8.1. I got the 0x80000004 error, or whatever it was. I can't remember exactly), 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM, Intel Core i7 3630QM, NVIDIA GT630M (2GB) GPU, and a 1TB 5400RPM HDD. Don't know what brand, I didn't check.
-Ram-TEST lasted nine hours and successfully completed -Change the motherboard (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX From R2.0 to MSI 890FX-GD70, the latter shall use at this time, the other I sold it) -Changed video card (ATI 6870 Updated NVIDIA 760) -Replaced SSD where the system resides, had a value SMART wrong, incorrectly replaced by Samsung (EVO 250GB) -Analyzed by-DUMP bluescreenanalizer and semrpe the same file with the same bug tails -Windows-formatted 3 times already
The temperatures are good .. I also have a Corsair H100i and a fairly spacious case that allows good ventilation (CM Storm Trooper) This is my components: CPU: AMD FX8350 RAM: 16GB (4 x 4) G SKILL 1866 MHz CAS 8 SSD: 250GB Samsung EVO Video Card: Zotac 760 amp edition! HDD: 3TB WD, 250GB WD Motherboard: MSI 890FX-GD70 Sound Card: Asus Xonar Phoebus ONLY Case: CM Storm Trooper Black Win 8.1 x64 Original I repeat that I do not overclock, the frequencies are those of series
Now I'll explain when I turn on my pc at COLD (the day after practically) happens to me .. and not always! However, if you reboot immediately after work PERFECTLY, and for hours and hours! without presenting problems or other, and even under stress. The next day, however, having been off the night it happens it happens .. this blue screen without doing anything specific! Coincidentally, sometimes even if I do nothing on windows just turned on, or a complete on the internet, or other, causally!
I started a thread a while ago and You Fellas diagnosed the problem was the faulty RAM. So I bought and replaced using 2 other slot of memory that wasn't used before (i have 4 slots). It took some time, but sadly it started crashing again. 4 dmps and routine stuff attached. It happens usually in games but it happens sometimes in desktop so its random for me. What component or anything else is corrupted.
The crashes usually occur when the computer is not in use. I will move the mouse and either the screen will come to life... or the computer has crashed.
I updated NVIDEA drivers end of July and thought I fixed it. But apparently not.
Since yesterday, I keep getting Kernel Inpage Error like every 15 mins I turnd the computer on. It runs on pre-installed Windows 8 after I bought it new a year ago. In the past, I have been getting BSOD, but it is usually after I wake it from sleep mode and the error is IRQL EQUAL OR LESS ..
I have an issue with bsod that keeps happening when I play bf4 all the threads say to post here to get to know what program is issueing. 0n reading the dump file to know what program / driver is the issue.
About 2 - 3 weeks ago, I've got a lot of bluescreens, and I've solved it by removing my USB wireless adapter and connecting to my router by using an Ethernet cable, this reduced the amount of them, I think that I only got one after that. In the last sunday, my hard drive broke and bought a new one in monday, and after formatting it and reinstalling Windows 8, the bluescreens returned and now they're more than ever!!!! And one thing I have noticed, is that two of them appeared when I was copying big files which total size was about 60 GB from a directory to another inside the C: .
I'm starting to think that this is related to the motherboard or something like that.
I walk away from my computer for a bit and come back to a BSOD. This happens quite regular. I have run my system both stock and highly overclocked. When it started BSODing on me I put it back to stock to see if that worked but it has not worked.
