Apps / Software :: WMP Refusing To Recognize Songs In Playlist

May 27, 2013

1, issue with windows media player.

2, issue with xbox music.(Windows 8 app)

1, ok...windows media player flat out refuses to recognize any of the songs in an album thats part of a 3 album playlist, now it'll recognize everything else just fine.

2, for whatever reason... xbox music flat out refuses to recognize ANY music in a playlist when its made known to the app, now I can navigate to songs and play them just fine..but playlists? forget it. it looks at me like I've got two heads.

I just got a new set of logitec z110 usb powered speakers, and I wanted to dial them in, hence me tweaking sound settings and ONLY sound settings in all my media player programs.

Apps / Software :: (Winamp) Will Not Save Current Playlist On Windows 8 / 8.1

Mar 29, 2014

I did a clean installation of Windows 8.1 a few months ago. Then I installed all my apps and manually migrated settings of all the software i use ( from a Windows 7 image ) . I also did this for Winamp .

Everything works 100% since the installation, but when using Winamp the ' current' playlist which the program automatically creates sporadically will not save! After opening a random number of times, the playlist disappeared spontaneously thus winamp was started with an empty playlist.

This means i can load my recursive playlist each time i start Winamp ( very frustrating with 50K + mp3's ).I can not think of any software that is installed on my PC which could affect this situation (I don't use a separate antivir. Just Windows Defender).

What I've done so far:

- Uninstalled Winamp. Removed the settings folder. Reinstalled Winamp.

- No additional plugins / addons or whatever installed for winamp .

- Double checked and forced the read-only flag on the winamp user data folder (to make sure the playlist can be saved/written).

The settings folder is in the following location : C:Users<username>AppDataRoamingWinamp

The current playlist is saved as : Winamp.m3u and Winamp.m3u8

Network / Sharing :: Metro Apps Not Recognize Internet Connection

Jan 11, 2013

I know posts have been circulating around this topic but none that directly address my needs. I just recently did a fresh install of Windows 8 onto a brand new SSD. I then set all of my documents to be on my traditional hard drive. Everything worked perfectly for about one day then my metro apps stopped connecting to the internet. I am on the internet currently using the desktop application of Chrome and all of my desktop applications connect to the internet. Additionally my computer tells me it is connected to the internet and troubleshooting identifies no problems.

Here's the problem all of my metro apps will not connect to the internet. The "Store" app says that my computer is not connected to the internet. The weather app opens but does not refresh, and most of my apps do the same thing. they have a constant loading symbol.

I have no antivirus installed. I did install PocketCloud Windows Companion VPN service so that I can access my computer with my tablet. I have scavenged all the forums and there seems to be no answer. Is this just a problem of Microsoft's?

Apps / Software :: Windows 8 Is Unable To Recognize Office 2010 Install?

Aug 26, 2013

Downloaded Office 2010 (had a disc but without driver wouldn't play). Used the key that came with the disc. Downloaded ok. I can find it in the apps, I can even have it open but when I try to open a Word file I receive in an email for example I get the screen that asks me to either buy it or if I already have it, to enter the key. Enter the key and it says it's not valid, but is the key I used to download.

Browsers/Mail :: Internet Refusing To Load Webpages?

Dec 23, 2013

My internet is currently not loading pages properly since I starting using a Telsta modem that came with the internet bundle (T-Box and Modem set). My D-Link modem stopped working due to old age I guess and doesn't turn on anymore. So I set-up the Telstra modem (with the included filter that I was using on my old modem, the D-Link and pages were loading fine).

For example when I try to load Facebook sometimes or Twitch.tv it does not load the page, sometimes only the text-based version on Facebook and Twitch.tv but sometimes on Facebook images and video's don't load. But on Youtube it works fine and loads videos perfectly like my old modem does. But some / most websites don't load.

I think I am close to being capped (but not sure why that would allow Youtube videos to load in 720 / 1080p)

Debugging :: Machine Started Shutting Down Unexpectedly And Refusing To Wake From Sleep?

Jun 19, 2014

I've recently completed a PC build:

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard
Intel i7 4930k CPU
64GB Corsair DDR3 RAM
Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD
Samsung 840EVO 500GB SSD (boot drive)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX760
PSU: Corsair AX860
Windows 8.1

Machine started shutting down unexpectedly, and refusing to wake from sleep a few days after being built.

A few days later and the problem has got worse now - BSOD with various errors, such as MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE, SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE, and others. Oddly, desktop search has also stopped working.

I have updated the drivers and the BIOS, but this doesn't seem to have had any effect.

Pc Won't Recognize The Monitor

Feb 15, 2014

Basically, I just bought a pc, turned it on, put my old monitors vga in the port provided, and basically, I just see a black screen, the pc is booting fine, etc, but cant see anything on my old monitor.

what i did was, I went to my pc, there are 2 hdmi ports, one is the upper one, and one is down, put the hdmi one on the upper one, nothing.. wasnt able to see anything on my tv that has a hdmi input, but when I put the hdmi cable in the lowest hdmi spot I can see windows, and am able to write this now.

My question is, how can I acces my pc thru the vga port of my old monitor without having to put it in the lowest hdmi port on my tv?

MSDart For Windows 8 Does Not Recognize OS

Aug 4, 2013

I have the version of MSDART for Windows 8. (I forget which version number that is.) I have created the USB boot disk for it.

It will boot into the MSDART environment, but many of the tools don't work (such as regedit, system restore, SFC, etc.), as it doesn't seem to recognize my installed (legal) Win 8 Pro (all the latest updates). (I forget what the error message is, but something about not having found an OS.)

I wonder if it could be due to the following. The computer (Lenovo X230 notebook) came with Windows 8 installed on the installed HDD, which is listed in the BIOS as Drive 0. I installed an mSATA SSD, and did a clean install of the OS on it, and formatted the HDD, which I use for storage. The BIOS clearly lists the SSD as the boot drive, and it boots up fine from it. (It is listed in the BIOS as drive 2, however.)

When I boot into MSDART, I can still use Explorer in it. I noticed (although I had chosen the option to keep the same drive letters as the OS, but I guess since it did not recognize the OS) that the hard drive is listed as Drive C: in it, and the SSD is Drive D:.

Therefore, I am wondering whether MSDART only looks for the OS on the HDD (listed as Drive 0 in the BIOS), even though the BIOS also lists the SSD as the boot drive?

Getting Windows 8 To Recognize DVD / CD Drive

I've done the reg edit tweak which is widely published but that does not correct it, nor does d/loading the free version of Win Media Centre.

Windows 8 Doesn't Recognize The Old Partition

Mar 9, 2013

I've decidede to upgrade my girlfriend's computer from Vista to Windows 8.I didn't dare to delete the old O.S, thus I installed it on a different hard disk. (*) Now I can choose to boot from Vista or WIndows 8. Both work.

From Vista everything is OK. It recognizes his partition and Windows 8's one as well.

But from Windows 8 I cannot acces the old Vista partition in the other disk (ntfs too). It says that is unallocated. What can I do?

I don't think I have to repair the partition because it's working well if I boot from Vista. With other tools such as easeus it's the same. From Linux everything is OK.

(*) In fact it's in an external disk, but it boots properly and everything seems OK, except the partition issue.but he had too many partitions. I hust have two primary partitions on each disk.

I tried to do this scenario before i start deploying uefi secure images for my company but it wouldn't show data. I can see the drive however in devices but it won't give it a drive letter and i can't access it.

Is there a resolution to this problem that i can troubleshoot just in case i run into it in the future.

DVD drive not recognize by windows-8 after update

i installed WINDOWS-8 RP 64bit for trail on DG41RQ mobo (as well as on other PC (DG31PR) where there is no problem).

all was well till i updated the intel chipset driver (Intel Chipset Device Software version 9.1.2.1008)

and the BIOS version (to RQG4110H.86A.0017.EB)

now the system doesn't recognize my LG DVD drive (HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NP20) , (also in device manger and also in SAFE MODE) my BIOS dose recognize it and i CAN boot a live Win-XP from it.

i tried to roll back the IDE intel controllers drivers, but no change.

i have an IDE HDD as master, and the DVD Drive as SLAVE (recognized as such by BIOS).

my UEFI is desabled in BIOS (i don't know what it is actually).

Maintenance :: Win 8.1 File History Won't Recognize Reconnected Drive

Oct 23, 2013

I have been using File History (in Windows 8 and 8.1) to an external drive connected through a USB 3.0 port. Since upgrading to 8.1, the 3.0 port is unreliable (Renesas driver errors) and I have not been able to find a solution. So I reconnected the drive through a USB2 port. When I restart, the drive is recognized in Explorer as "File History (E" as it was before. But File History will not recognize it (Unknown Error). When I use "Select another drive", I am given the option to select my File History drive, but when I do so, I get a prompt about moving files from the old drive to the new one. Since they are the same drive, needless to say, this doesn't work! If I decline the option, I get an error message "Could not enable File History - The system cannot find the file specified".

Any way (short of re-formatting the drive (which would destroy all previous FH backups) and changing its letter!)?

Hardware Drivers :: Windows 8 / 8.1 Will Not Recognize Xbox 360 As Device

Oct 25, 2013

I have a sony vaio pro laptop, originally running windows 8 but just updated to windows 8.1. However, this problem was the same when I had windows 8 so updating to 8.1 has not changed anything. I cannot add my xbox 360 wirelessly as a device to my vaio laptop. I want to be able to stream videos etc from laptop to xbox. When I go to Change PC settings>Devices>Add device the computer searches but will not find the xbox, despite it being switched on and connected to the wireless network.

The really frustrating thing is that I have another laptop running windows 8, now updated to 8.1, and it connects with the xbox with no problems whatsoever. As soon as I click 'add a device' on this laptop the xbox is found and I can connect to it/stream content with no problems.

I have tried disabling the firewall on my vaio laptop, still didn't work. I have ensured sharing etc is turned on on both the laptop and the xbox.

Hardware Drivers :: USB 3.0 Ports Don't Recognize Plugged In Device

Jan 24, 2014

I have recently bough a new PC. Now that everything is put together and installed I am facing only ONE problem.

I own an Adata Nobility NH13 External HDD which is USB 3.0. When I plug it into any USB3.0 port using a USB3.0 cable, the drive does not show up in My Computer, nor in Device manager, regardless if I use the Front or Rear USB3.0 ports.

The USB2 ports work just fine with it but what is the point in having a USB3.0 device if you don't use it the way you should ... If I plug in USB2 devices in the USB3.0 ports the work great, and even if I connect the ExtHDD with a USB2 cable it does work.

Now, the first thing you would think is that the USB3.0 drivers are missing but in the Device manager, unser USB controllers, there is a Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller-0100(Microsoft).
