I have Windows 8.0 and I keep getting this message while trying to update the video app from the Windows Store. Is there any way to solve this problem and download the update to this app?...or Is there another app I can use to replace the video app?

Each time I attempt to install or update through the app store I receive error message 0x80072ee4 or 080073cff. I tried:
1. Performing a clean boot. (Disabling all non-microsoft services and startup items)
2. Using the SFC /SCANNOW option to verify the integrity of windows files.
3. Clearing C:/Users/Myusername/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows Store and C:/Users/Myusername/AppData/Local/Package to clean the cache files.
4. Clearing C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution and restarting the Windows Update service.
5. Verifying that all windows services are running.
6. Disabling NIS 2013
7. Running troubleshooter
Nothing works. Don't tell me to run the windows restore function.
1. I don't consider that to be a genuine solution. (What if the same thing happens again?)
2. I don't plan on reinstalling all 50 non-windows app store applications.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Windows 8.1, when trying to change from regular password to Microsoft Account, in the end of the process (I pass it all the way to the last step) I get the message:
"Some settings are managed by your system administrator" and code 0x80070005.
I have Administrator account (there is only one account on the computer)
I bought a computer that was used in the store (last item). Apparently they have put some protection that limits changes (Group security?), and did not remove it when I took the computer.
I don't have "pro" so I don't have Secpol.msc .
how to remove these limitation, and restore the default settings?
Ever since this new update with 8.1 I can't install any new apps... I first noticed when my Mail app stopped working and froze my computer. So I uninstalled the app and when I tried to install it back I get the screenshot below.. So I tried Yahoo Mail, some games, some other apps.. Nothing will work. Mail finally said it installed, but it's not on my computer and the app store says it's already installed. When I go to download/ install this, it moves realy fast, then stops and says: "Windows couldn't complete the requested changes" with the error code '0x800F081F'. I have been trying to do this for weeks now, and keep getting this error.
Some things to note:
I downloaded Windows 8 (Pro, 64)
My computer had a problem and I had to refresh it.
I am trying to install GTasks application in windows 8, but after clicking install it says this app was not installed and gives this error code: 0x80073cf9

So recently the Windows Store has stopped working for me (Win 8.1 Pro). By not working, I mean that whenever I try to install an app, I get the following error message:
Your purchase couldn't be completed. Something happened and your purchase can't be completed.
Error code: 0x80240017.
Furthermore, apps are not updating automatically, and a manual check reveals no updates available. That being said, I know for a fact that my Facebook and OneNote apps are out of date, since they have both changed on my other computer. As a test, I uninstalled the OneNote app, and now I can't re-install it.
So far I've tried:
-The apps troubleshooter.
-The windows update troubleshooter.
-WSReset.exe
-SFC.exe (no violations found)
Re-installed Windows 8 along side Windows 7 (because I can) and seem to be having issue with the updates of the default Windows 8 apps included with Windows 8. Says it's pending, but nothing is happening. These apps are for News, Finance etc etc. Pretty much all the default windows 8 modern apps.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter I updated my Windows 8 x64 Lenovo y410p PC to Windows 8.1 from the app store and updated and repaired all possible apps from the store, there's 5 apps (that appear without images):
Microsoft.Camera
Microsoft.WindowsLive.ModernPhotos
Microsoft.Bing
Microsoft.WindowsLive.Chat
Microsoft.MicrosoftSkydrive
That when I try to run them, I get the message "This app can't open" and it asks me to check the Store for a fix. When I click the button to do that, the Store opens and I get the message "There's a problem with the app you're trying to run, and it can't be repaired by Windows Store." I'm guessing these are the old apps from Windows 8 that are no longer supported on Windows 8.1 (since I also have separate working Photos, Camera, and Skydrive metro apps). The only exception is that when I run the broken chat app, the Store app offers to repair the Mail, Calendar, and Peoples app, but that does not remove the broken chat app. How do I get rid of these apps, since I can't uninstall them from then normal uninstall menu?

From 8 pro 64bit (with media centre) to 8.1, tried many times, no luck, always end up getting the same error code 0x20017, then rolled back to 8, every driver has been updated and there no external driver whatsoever.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor more than a week now, the above situation have been occurring. I have "scoured" the web and tried a lot of "solutions" and none as at yet have normalized my situation.
I am suspecting that I might need a registry solution, since I cannot refresh my installation- I upgraded to win 8 from win 7 online.
Also, the Skype app crashes almost as soon as it finishes loading and returns to the start menu. But, there is a sign it is still running and whenever you click on it, it trips off again.
I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, ran the apps troubleshooters many times, checked that the time service is running, synchronized this and that, etc to no avail.
My Mail Live tile do not have the option to turn on/off live update but the Calendar and People tiles have it yet none is updating.

lately Iv'e been having trouble booting my windows 7 and decided that it's time to upgrade, I bought a copy ofr windows 8 64-bit from microsoft and burned it onto a disk using the windows 7 usb/dvd downloader. I was doing all this from a 32-bit and thus applied the bootsect.exe as needed. When i boot from the disk, everything runs smoothly. I insert the required code and select custom install.
At this point, i select the partitiion and proceed. as the installation proceeeds, it does not apear if the first phase of installation does anything, even after 5 minutes it stays at 0%. after it finaly switches to the next part, I wait again for the next phase, but it only throws up a message "windows cannot install required files. make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. error code 0x8007048F"
After multiple attempts I decided to reinstall windows 7, but now I get the same error.
In Win Mail I keep getting this error code every time I try to send in receive on just one of my mail accounts. It is a .rr. account. I can send and receive, but I keeps filling my inbox with the same emails over and over. Almost like the emails haven't "cleared the server" and the server keeps sending me the same emails.

Just started after updating to 8.1
I have a program called WYSIWYG Web Builder. It has FTP built into the program. It uses wininet. I have had no problems with this program until now. It was working fine with Windows 8. After updating to Windows 8.1 I now get this message.
I am trying to download the windows 8.1 on a windows 8.0 Toshiba S855D-S5120Laptop. Laptop specs 2.3 APU A10 Quad Core, 700 Giga HDD, 8 Giga RAM, and graphic ATI 2 giga memory 1200 x 800 screen . The OS is the first edition of windows 8.0 and I had widows preview 8.1 on it downloaded from the windows store. When I download the windows 8.1 from the store, I get this error code 80240031 ( I looked up the error coded and it mean invalid file) at 50% file download. I have used the windows restore function to restore the laptop to windows 8.0 and still the windows update does not work. I have tried resetting setting to default factory settings and same thing happens with the download. I have also bought the window pro 8.1 pack and the same thing with the windows 8.1 it stops at 50% and same error code comes up. I have also done the WSReset.exe and no improvement. I have all of windows updates and still nothing I do is working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 8 Backup has been working fine for 12 months to an external Seagate USB hard drive.I'm now getting a "device not ready" message with error code 0x80070015 and the backup fails within 30 secs of starting. I've checked the drive for errors and there are no problems. I can read /write files to the external drive. There is ample spare space on the external drive to store the backup file. How to investigate and solve this problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using Windows 8 Pro for about five months and running the backup utility for about four months with no major issues. I have used it to create a system image and scheduled to back up my data files weekly.
For the past two weeks I have been getting an error message "error code 0x80780049" along with a message that my files did not backup.
My backup is via esata to an external drive and as mentioned above this was working fine (I even tried a restore of a couple of files to prove it) but now it will not complete the backup. I even deleted the entire backup and started again from scratch but backup fails at about 50% completion. I have checked with windows defender and no viruses exist.
My computer came with pre-installed Windows 8 Single Language but I can't active it. I contacted Microsoft but they didn't response. My error code: 0xC004F074.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my HP laptop. I've had this happen before and I had to completely reset my laptop because of it.
Basically I went to log in this morning, it said my profile couldn't be found and signed me out. I then tried again to log in and the Start menu has been flickering continuously and I can't select anything, it has also 'lost' all of my stuff so it looks like a temporary profile..
I have tried googling for an answer and cannot find anything that works, when I try to 'refresh' my laptop via going to safe mode it comes up with the error code: 80070490. I've tried to do a 'clean boot' in safe mode but that won't work properly..
When trying to log in to a Microsoft account either in Skydrive or Windows Store I get error code 0x80070426.
I have tried WSReset.exe (windows store reset), apps.diagcab and microsoftaccounts.diagcab, but with no luck.

I have tried to start up my PC recently and I get the message that my boot system has failed due to the fact it's missing the file "BCD".
I have contacted the microsoft company to report this issue, no support without my product code, or a disc/USB with the windows 8 system on it.
I have none of these and yet my issue still remains. My PC has worked perfectly the day before I shut it down. I'm trying very hard to restore my system but all I can find of the ways to restore it is by clicking control panel, etc...
I cannot access my laptop's desktop all I get is this error message and options to enter the setup utilities, firmware and boot options.
In all I'm asking for is, is there a way to restore my system from any of these options or is this another toss away laptop because windows 8 has failed to find this missing file?

I purchased a new laptop last week: Lenovo G500.it has Windows 8 pre-installed.at present i am still using the pre-installed McAfee Internet security programme for my AV;i have successfully done all updates(which are set to automatic)
However-despite 5 attempts to free upgrade to 8.1 i am still getting the Error Code 0x80072ee2 message and installation fails. on checking this out i am finding 'fixes' but these require installation of 'repair tool' type applications(only operable if bought etc).
