I have windows 8 pro. Trying to install Itunes 11.01 64bit for Windows 8. Keep getting message "This app can't run on your computer".
Did a Google search on this problem and tried running as an Administrator, and changing compatibility to windows 7, but still get the same message. A suggestion online was made to save file before u download, but no prompt comes up to save.
I've found that on my Windows 8 64-bit PC whenever I try to install a new version of iTunes it always gives me an error. The only way to upgrade to the latest version is to uninstall iTunes completely, reboot, then install the new version of iTunes. Could it be because I'm running the 64-bit version of Windows? It's kind of annoying completely uninstalling iTunes just to upgrade to the new version but it's not a huge issue.

I have an online course where the audio/video files are in itune store, but everytime I click on the link, it said itmss protocol is not registered in Windows, so the only solution seems to download/install iTunes for Windows. I'm trying to use VLC for all my audio/video files, so if I can avoid installing iTunes and still be able to download and watch the course video/audio, would be ideal.
Here are my questions:
- how can I visit itune store and check which free video/audio files are available to download. The ideal would be just click on the link, but everytime I tried that, the FF responded that does not know how to handle it.
- what's the format used by apple for audio/video files in itune store?
- supposed that I could download the video/audio files from itune store, is it possible to play with VLC?

I just got an XPS 8500 with 64-bit Win 8 (non-Pro). I'd like to load a lot of XP apps from my ancient machine. Is there a way to load/run them? I've heard of HYPER-V, but it only runs on Win 8 Pro. There may be other solutions, but I don't know which to choose. I'd like to feel comfortable that whatever it is will work. If the answer is No, should I go to 32-bit Win 7 or 8 (and would THEY work?) or some other answer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to install Microsoft Office 2013, the progress bar reaches full then reverses about half way then I get an error saying "Microsoft setup bootstrapper has stopped working". I have already tried clean booting, safe mode, turning off AV, using repair kit. I tried installing Microsoft .NET framework but it said my OS already comes with it, however I cannot find it in Programs and Features.

I recently updated to a HP laptop with windows 8 and downloaded iTunes and transferred my music over which I can open and play, however when I try to go the iTunes store I get "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I never get any notification and I can't work out the problem, I have uninstalled and re-installed and still have the same issue.

I'm having trouble Windows 8 64bit on a computer. It gets near the end and when it comes to restarting, get this error code 0xc0000001 and saying windows failed to install. Also tried installing Windows XP and it does the same and also another hard drive to see if it was that but it still does it.
The computer is a mix of new and old bits from an other computer i used...

I'm making a rebuild soon and I think 64bit would really benefit me, apart from some programs I use that are being discontinued in 32bit. A friend of mine recently upgraded to Win 8 too, but he bought the CD. Could I use his CD to overwrite my Win 8 32bit with a 64bit one? The laptop is so old it won't let me install 64 bit, is there a 32 bit version on the disk hidden away I could install or are they totally separate disks?
Is it possible to download a copy which would work for 30 days without entering a serial number or even an old beta copy.
I have been given a dell inspiron 531 with 64 bit AMD processor, running 32 bit vista home basic, that has responded well to RAM upgrade to 4GB.
I want to install 64 bit win 8 pro media centre which I have on an original MS CD. either over current vista or on separate partition as dual boot.
For some reason the dell wont read the MS win 8 64 disk (or any other original MS OS disks I have (vista-32/7-64/8-32)) but reads pretty much everything else (DVD's excepted as currently has no DVD reading software.)..either through explorer or during boot..it is not only original ms discs that are a problem as dell won't read Windows 8-64 enterprise trial iso I burned myself either.
I have tried turning off security software (MS security essentials/MS firewall)..no change.
CD's all read fine via explorer on my lightly hopped up HP tx1340ea running win 8-64 pro media centre.

How do I do this? i do not want to upgrade I want to keep separate systems.

View 7 Replies View RelatedPrevious summer I upgraded my computer to a more up to date with 8GB RAM. Inevitably, I had to backup my data and install 64-bit version of Windows 7. I could install and use most of my devices, except an old Pinnacle Studio Pro analogue TV tuner PCI card. After some search, I managed to find custom 64-bit drivers fot BT848/BT878 cards and instructions of how to sign them, so I could use them in normal mode. After following the instructions the drivers worked fine in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit! OK, the original application Pinnacle Vision didn't work since it looks exclusively for Pinnacle's own 32-bit driver, but I could use the card in Nero Vision, Pinnacle Studio Pro, VirtualDub etc.
How did the problem arised: I recently upgraded the computer to Windows 8 and then to 8.1 so I have the latest version. Some devices were replaced with Microsoft drivers and others were not installed. I downloaded latest OEM drivers and managed to make all devices work at their full potential again, except the Pinnacle TV tuner. I went to advanced startup options and loaded Windows 8.1 in the mode that ignores driver signature.
I then attempted to manually install the custom BT848 64-bit drivers from Device Manager, since there was no setup program. As you may know, the card appears as two devices in Device Manager. One for the video part and one for the audio part. The audio part completed sucessfully. But the video part displayed the message "Error 39: file not found". The same driver worked OK in Windows 7, so the missing files should be Windows 7 system files that are not present in Windows 8. Is there any way to see which files are these so I can copy them from a Windows 7 installation? How I can determine which file was not found when I see error 39? Is there a log file or what?
I have purchased notebook with OEM version of Windows 8 64bit. The system is not professional version of Windows 8. I would like to run 32 bit application which is not possible to install it on 64bit system.

Do I need to disable Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2013, before I proceed with the upgrade (Keeping all apps, settings, and files) ?
Would I need to reinstall NIS 2013 after upgrade is completed ?

I do prefer a local account but when i try to install new apps from app store Windows 8.1 asks me to switch to a microsoft account.
Can I install apps with a local account? and how can i understand if I have a local account or microsoft account.
Ever since this new update with 8.1 I can't install any new apps... I first noticed when my Mail app stopped working and froze my computer. So I uninstalled the app and when I tried to install it back I get the screenshot below.. So I tried Yahoo Mail, some games, some other apps.. Nothing will work. Mail finally said it installed, but it's not on my computer and the app store says it's already installed. Previously on my older laptop I was running windows vista and the movie files played on itunes. They were mp4 files. I went onto the set defaults for programs and tried un-checking the mp4 box on the program "Video" which I think may be the reason I can't export them onto itunes but the box won't un-check.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a GMYLE Windows media remote to control dvd software on my computer which works fine but the remotes nav, play and pause buttons etc also at the same time controls iTunes, is there a way to stop the remote controlling iTunes?
Just some info, obviously it does not happen when iTunes is closed but I like to keep it running all the time to download podcasts in the background and don't really want to keep closing it when I want to watch a dvd.
Also I went into iTunes/preferences/devices and ticked the box "only allow paired or home sharing remotes to control itunes" but every time I open iTunes preferences again the box is un-ticked.
When I plug in my iPhone, iPad or iPod into my Windows 8.1 Pro PC it launches Windows File Explorer instead of iTunes. There's no option in Autoplay for iTunes.
If I launch iTunes manually the iPhone, iPad or iPod can be seen and used in iTunes.
How do I get iTunes to show as an option in Autoplay
