Corrupted Display In Windows 7?
Sep 10, 2011I'm having displays issue where either black horizontal lines appear (while in Free-cell viewing photos) when maximized or text and icons are missing from windows such as device manager. In the case of the latter, when moused-over, the graphic or text (which was previously invisible) appears.The video card is an ATI Radeon HD5770 1024 mb GDDR5 PCI-E and both the monitor and computer are about a year old.These problems just started happening out of the blue.Since, I have updated the video card driver numerous times but to no avail.

Aug 12, 2010I'm transfering all my data to a new hdd using gparted. My ubuntu partition went fine but my windows 7 is corrupted or broken. I tried twice to clone the partition but the new one is behaving oddly. url...first when windows starts theres nothing on the screen, i have to ctrl+alt+del and create a explorer.exe process, then I can't navigate because any attempt to enter "computer" or any explorer windows returns a warning with "no such interface supported". All my data is still there but is currently unusable.I really want to clone it because reinstalling everything is going to be too much time consuming.

Aug 9, 2012i have a system with a corsair force 3 60GB SSD with Windows 7 on it. Recently, when i tried booting the system, it would not boot into windows, instead it would get stuck on the "Loading Operating System .................................................................." page and then it would ask to load an operating system and press ENTER.
I have inserted the drive into another computer by USB to check the system files and it seems fine, i can read and write to and from the drive and i can see the system files on my other com.
I have also tried booting the Drive from other computers but same issue. I am not sure if its a driver issue or a corrupted windows file.
I have tried other methods, setting the drive to first boot, forcing the system to boot from the drive, setting to ACHI mode, inserting the drive into different SATA ports and controller, all to no avail.

I had some issues after doing what an Anti Virus software asked me to do and register cleaning.Windows looked acting slow and some futures (both still) don't work.I have to mention that I had a bad memory that killed two slots on the main baord.Previously the Windows 7 x32 didn't start completally, it didn't get to the login screen. The mouse pointer was vissable and the screen was black.
I looked on the net for answers, but found non. So, I tried to expermimanted some F8 functions ad the MBR screen. I found one that did work, something for domein users. All the other options didn't work.I got it started (safe mode) and deleted the last month installed software.Did a chkdsk /F and restarted. [URL]I found one site with the command sfc /scannow to check the system files and fix them.After a while (not minutes as it says) I got the notification that not all system files could be fixed.It installed a log file ad WindowsLogCBS about 24MB.How to fix these errors?no reinstallation. I have software that came from GiveawayOfTheDay, the software can only be installed once.Or,After a reinstall, would it be possible to reinstall the software from the Old installation. Actually stupid to do, can have bugs too.
Is there a total Windows 7 x32/x64 repair disk that comes with the programs itseld and can check the net for information and can install and deinstall software for download?I forgot to burn the one that came with Windows 7.I downloaded a Repair disk, but it kept asking for Backup and Command prompt didn't work either.Guess, the DVD program did need those files on the Windows HDD installation too.Autoback up was disabled, don't know how. I'm not talking about a pirated copy with a fake license. I mean, is it possible the copy of Windows that came installed on my system is damaged, corrupt, or incomplete? All the data on the OEM disc was transferred from somewhere, from something. When the manufacturer created this disc, is it possible that something went wrong? Why do I want to know? Well, here is my story:About two years ago I purchased a brand new PC from Dell. I noticed within the first week or so, practically right out of the box, the PC crashed and displayed a BSOD. The PC crashed again about a week later. I was a little concerned when I saw the first crash, but the second got my attention for sure. However, every time I tried investigating an error code, the probable cause was always vague. I couldn't find anything that pointed to that one silver bullet fix.I looked for answers everywhere, often on boards such as this one. The fixes suggested to me were numerous, well thought out, but all too often varied. It's the hardware! I's the software! It's a third party driver! It's Windows! Whatever the suggestion, I tried it, but nothing worked.I am not a computer expert, guru, or whiz of any kind. I'm just a guy that has been able to troubleshoot or fix numerous issues over the years with the assistance of great people who contribute to forums like this one. But in regards to this particular issue, no matter what I have looked for, no matter what test I have used, I have never been able to identify the cause of these BSOD, nor have I been able to prevent them from continuing.Here are a few things I can tell you about this PC. I don't have any weird/uncommon software installed (just your basic things like Office, Acrobat, etc.). I'm not overclocking anything. I've checked the power supply and it is fully functional. Windows 7 Corrupted Preinstalled On Laptop
Nov 22, 2012I got a Dell Inspiron N5050, Three weeks of use I started having allot of problems, I restored to factory, three weeks later, same problems came back but Five Times worse. I thought it was a thousand different things and I've found out now that. My issue is a Pre-Installed Corrupted version of Windows 7. Is there anything I can do, short of buying a new version of windows? I've checked for problems with hardware and software, it says there's none, I've tried anti-viruses [Mcafee], Spybot, System Mechanic, Malwarebytes, and all the windows and dell options, every time, everything comes up clean.
So I've no idea why I keep getting a Black Screen, why I sometimes Blue Screen, and why after a Black Screen sometimes it knocks my screen res down very low, or sometimes forces my laptop to zoom in 300%, When it black screens it disconnects my webcam, it sometimes disables my ability to connect to Web Pages, sometimes it disabled my internet, so I am dumbfounded, and after all that, I was told it was a Corrupted Version of Windows.
Corrupted Windows Media Player?
Oct 24, 2011I found out a few days ago that my windows media player on my laptop got corrupted. it reads every wideo in inverted colors and i cant fix it. i scanned for viruses and got nothing, so i was going to delete it and redownload a new one. Problem is that it wont let me delete it because i dont have permission to make changes to it because i dont have permission from some company, (didnt say microsoft) and i also couldnt redownload a new on ebecause on the windows website it doenst give you a download button it just says that it is included in windows 7. what do i do?

Oct 20, 2012I have begun getting an error message on boot that that the file $windows.~btwindowssystem32winload.exe corrupted or missing. I've done the following:
1) Booted from Win7/64 Install (upgrade) disc and ran Repair System. No system errors found.
2) Booted from Win7/64 Install (upgrade) disc, opened command prompt and ran bootrec.exe /fixmbr, bootrec.exe /fixboot, and bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd.
3) Booted from Win7/64 Install (upgrade) disc, opened command prompt and ran chkdsk /f /r
4) Booted from Win7/64 Install (upgrade) disc, opened command prompt and ran sfc /scannow. For this program I keep getting a message there is a system repair pending which requires a reboot to complete. Reboot Windows and try again.If the Win7 disc is not in the CD/DVD drive there error returns.
This started appearing BEFORE I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on the H: drive (SATA0) while Win7/64 resides on the C: drive (SATA1). I had been running EasyBCD so I could dual boot Win7/32 but have since uninstalled it.

Apr 15, 2011I probably got overly ambitious with a disk cleanup utility and now several functions of windows 7 don't work. New updates don't install, other updates that I DID install are missing, I am unable to run certain games, and I can't run SFC /scannow.However virus scan updates appear to be fine.What is the best way to fix this? I have an old backup I did with Norton Ghost on disk but something is wrong with the second disk so I can't use to to reinstall the entire backup but I might be able to extract some old files if I knew which ones to extract. I am running Window Seven Home Premium. It is a legal copy. I got it directly from Microsoft. If I try to run SFC /scannow from Windows I cannot get it to show up or do anything. Windows 7 64bit - 32bit Programs Corrupted
Nov 12, 2010I have an Alienware M17x with as many upgrades as I could have got. I use my computer for work, and i have to be up in 5.5 hours to get a lot of stuff done..
Today, something strange was happening with IE8, where google results would open in some weird redirect program. So, I installed Adaware Free edition. I already had Spybot S&D installed, so I ran a full AVG scan, a full Adaware scan, and a full S&D scan.
I found a few Pieces of malware, which Spybot fixed. adaware and AVG found nothing.
Everything was fine, until I rebooted this evening. Upon rebooting, i got a brief 'adaware startup scan' thing, and removed some file inside my Diablo II directory.
Upon reboot, nothing loaded- no AVG, nothing. I researched for about 4 hours, and found one guy who had some incompatibility issue with AVG and S&D... I then found that i couldn't open the Uninstall Programs link!
I tried it in safe mode, but nothing would uninstall. I deleted the folders, as much as I could, then deleted all Lavasoft registry entires.
Didn't change anything! I have a chkdsk /f /s running, and will let you all know if it works.
Driver Is Missing Of Corrupted / Windows Not Booting
Nov 11, 2012I wanted to uninstall zorin os- i am so stupid that i deleted the partitions in windows 7. when i restarted i was unable to boot anything- the error message came. no partitions grub rescue>. I thought i should reinstall Zorin OS to fix the problem- get the grub to load up- but then when i tried to install it there were no partitions to select from as i deleted them while i was in windows. and then i tried to create a partition during the installation process- it was taking so long and i was sick enough to shutdown my computer during that process. after i turned on my computer,trying to install it again but then in the installing process windows 7 was not showing up. i quited the process- shut down my computer.After, i used my windows 7 recovery disk and repaired the windows for issues. when it finished. i restarted my computer. i again faced the error : no partitions and grub rescue>. then i researched for some codes, typed them in but that didnt work either. Then i decided to install zorin os again, this time i done partitions in the installing process. there it selected about 87.91 gb for zorin os and the rest for windows 7. my total memory was 250 now for windows 7 144.76 was left. However, i still had 92.95 gb free where as the used is only 51.80. now after zorin os installed, i restarted the computer.However, now when i try to load windows 7 from the grub menu- (as in when i select the windows 7 option to boot up) i am forwarded with the message- 0xc0000225 driver is missing or corrupted. I can't even boot up in safe modes because they require this driver as well.
Then, when i boot in the recovery disk, it looks for error but cannot fix them. other than this, i tried to rebuild he BCD in the command-as for the first time i didn't really carry out the whole procedure-the second time when i try to rename the BCD it said duplicate file or something similar and and at the end, it still shows 0 installations. However, i am still able to access the hard drive of windows 7 in zorin os.

It has been causing internet browsing issues specifically with google and other search engines. However I believe that the virus has corrupted my "Windows repair tool" that is required to reformat my system. I start my computer and hold F8 to bring up the menu and select the repair computer option and it brings me to the menu where I can either "start windows normally" or run system repair tool.
When I try to run the system repair tool I know it is supposed to bring me to a menu to select language and what not and ultimately restore my computer. Unfortunately it just returns to the normal boot up and repair option over and over upon selecting the option. I just want a virus free computer. My system is a dell inspirion running 64 bit windows 7. I have backed up all the files.

Feb 25, 2012I have an HP MINI 311 with Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit and the computer starts up fine but has tons of execute errors and doesn't display the desktop. I get environment error when trying to run programs and the shellexecex 203 error also. I have no recovery disk and recovery manager does not work. What is the best way to re-install my OS? The recovery disks you get online for recovery manager only fix startup problems which I don't have. Do I need to re-format and buy a new OS?

i7, 2Gb RAM.
The computer has been running fine for the last year. I am giving the series of events below:(Please note that linux is still running fine, so this cant be a hardware problem)##Today, when I started my laptop, it failed to start. It showed no error, its just that after the windows logo comes, it froze in a black screen with mouse cursor visible.###I forced restart, and then it gave me the option to repair, because windows was unable to start. ###I chose repair, and the repair program started "detecting problems". Then it gave me the option to either do a system restore or cancel. I chose system restore. ###I let it run for 3 hrs., but it seemed to make no progress, so I forced restart. (It didnt let me cancel also, said that current recovery process cannot be canceled)###I tried to enter safe mode this time, and was successful. I went to system restore, where it showed me an option to restore to an older point where I hadnt uninstalled a game (Assassin's creed Revelations)### For some reason, I didnt restore the system. I thought that maybe all this was a temporary problem. So I restarted normally, and tried starting windows the normal way. It failed. After the windows logo comes, there is a black screen with mouse pointer for a few seconds, then it automatically restarts. (this is what happened then, and also happens now)### I tried entering safe mode, but failed. Same thing started happening in safe mode also. Even though I opened safe mode successfully just a while ago.### I tried many times to start windows in safe mode and all its variants, but to no avail.### I tried many times with the startup repair option, but also to no avail. It always seemed that it would go on forever.
I dont have the windows 7 installation Cd or even the recovery CD. (how bad is that?). So I borrowed a recovery CD from a friend, who also has windows 7 64 bit, and booted from it. It said that the driver windows/system32/driver/isapnp.sys was missing or corrupt. It says that I need the installation CD and select repair. But I dont have the installation CD from which my windows was installed. I have two questions:
1. If I somehow ask around and get someone else's windows 7 64 bit installation disk, will it work? (Someone else's disk, from which my windows was not installed). I dont need to put in the key or something, do I? I dont even know the key. The laptop came with windows installed and everything.
2. Can I simply replace the file isapnp.sys in windows/system32/drivers folder through linux? I asked my friend to give me his isapnp.sys file (which was of the same size as mine, he also ran win7 64 bit). Replaced it, but it doesnt work. Is there some other place I should replace it too, or this method is not supposed to work?
All File Associations Corrupted For Windows 7 Account - System Restore?
Jan 20, 2013Windows 7 Pro 64 SP1. He has 2 accounts on his PC (administrator, and 'user'). Both have admin privileges. When he logged in this morning using his user account, the file associations for all applications appear to have been corrupted. In his user account, all programs launch with the IE download manager which gives me an option to run or save. When 'run' is selected from IR download manager, a window quickly flashes on the screen and closes. I am unable to run any application including windows explorer, regedit, cmd, etc, including system restore.
He has Symantec Endpoint which also launched in IE download manager. My friend does not recall installing anything recently. I tried booting in safe mode and logging into the user account and the behavior is exactly the same. When I log in using the admin account (in regular mode) everything seems to be fine. The system restore option is available as are all the file associations. A Symantec scan using the admin account shows nothing other than a single tracking cookie. The only thing I can think of doing is a system restore from the admin account but thought I'd post this to the group to see if there was something else I should try first.
Windows 7 Fresh Install - File Getting Corrupted During Network Transfer
Mar 24, 2011My company computer (hooked up to our internal network; no homegroup) has just had a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I went through the process of mapping network drives and had a problem when it came to connecting to IP addresses and folders in the format of '\servershared folder'. Turned out that I had to change a security setting.
Following the instructions on this site, I was able to resolve that issue. These network locations are CNC machines and the files that I am placing on the machines contain CNC code (G&M code and X, Y, Z values for 3D machining). Basically, G&M code cannot have multiple X, Y or Z values on the same line (it wouldn't make sense to go to two X locations in the same move).
When I transfer CNC files from a network location (all of our files are stored on a server) to the CNC machine, they occasionally get corrupted where part of one file is contained in another file. I have tried transferring one at a time and in bulk, both with the same result.
Broken And Corrupted Windows Update Error Code 80248014
Sep 11, 2012I somehow managed to destroy windows update. it cannot find updates anymore. Ive gotten 2 error codes: 80248014 and (not sure) 80073712. I have tried using a program i found on the windows club that was supposed to fix it but didnt, i tried the System Update Readiness Tool, but it failed.

Jun 3, 2011After recently downloading the service pack, I've had issues with my computer, including the themes service not working. I want to uninstall the pack so that I can do a system repair using my disc because my disc is older than the service pack. However, the service pack doesn't show up on the programs list. If I try to uninstall by looking at windows update or the command prompt I get an error message that says:
Installer encountered an error: 0x80073712
The component store has been corrupted.
I have already done a sfc file checker thing through the command prompt, and it said that some files were corrupted, and I couldn't access the log (access denied). I'm currently running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I obtained the log from the sfc scan. [URL]
Stuck On Starting Windows - Repair Shows System Volume On Disk Corrupted
Oct 19, 2011I have had Win 7 installed for a while now).
Here is a summary of my problem:
1) My computer recently got stuck on the "Starting Windows Screen." So I manually held the power button to reboot.
2) On reboot, it said there was a need to run a startup repair, which I did. Everything checked fine, except for the last one which said "System Volume on Disk is Corrupted," which it claimed to have successfully fixed.
3) After rebooting from repair, the system gets stuck on "Starting Windows Screen" for a good 10-15 minutes, after which it runs a registry check. After it completes that I get hopeful -- but the screen then gets stuck on an all black screen with just the mouse cursor and nothing more.
4) Additional note: Attempting to start the computer on "safe mode" leads safe mode startup to become stalled on "DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS"
5) The lastest attempt to repair yielded this message: "Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

Installing Over Corrupted Windows 7 Starter, Can Trust Windows.old To Be Created
Jan 1, 2013I don't have a hard drive large enough to backup the data on my daughter's netbook with a corrupted W7 starter install. When I attempt to re-install W7 starter, it does tell me that if it detects a previous Windows install, it will move the files over into a Windows.old folder. I'm familiar with the process, but can I really trust that the installation won't just format and install over my previous files? Does it mostly find your old install and move it with little fail rate?Looking at the drive through a liveCD, I can see all my files are indeed still there. Although I will have to delete some files to make room for a new install since I apparently don't have enough room for it. Would it be safe to delete everything in my Programs folder (I don't mind losing this)? Or would that make the Windows installer unable to recognize my previous install?

Feb 22, 2012I have 3 corrupt installations of the same OS (Windows 7 U. 64 bit) in the same hard drive. I can't install any OS(es), and my original (working installation) no longer works. These corrupt installations are corrupt because windows installed incorrectly twice they left old windows instead of creating a windows.old file.When I try to start up any of these three installations, I get the same error: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."This also happens upon completion of reinstalling windows.I have tried to wipe the drive:most programs I see need windows to operate...I've tried a few programs that can be booted, DBAN boots, but I get the same error every time: That DBAN has encountered a non-fatal error and that the error is usually caused by damaged disks.

Nov 8, 2012I (my wife) is running Windows 7 Home Premium (64). Windows explorer crashes when:
-Searching with more than 4 characters in the start menu
-Opening the Network and Sharing Center
-Various other times that seem unrelated
I have attempted:
-Startup repair X3 : it catches problems but doesn't repair them
-sfc /scannow command : also catches problems, and the CDA log shows all of the corrupted files.
-Copying the system32 files from a fresh windows install to fix the broken dll files while in another os : this didn't seem to have any affect
-System Restore doesn't have any images before the issue began
-Full system antivirus and malware scan and rootkit detection with no results showing (doesn't rule it out, but I used Norton commercial, Mbits, Lavasoft, and Kapersky online all in safemode, and some rootkit detectors)
-Repair Install : hangs when initiated
-Updating windows to SP1 : it seems the system attempted to update some time ago and failed or was interrupted. Now SP1 won't install, the updater hangs
-in an attempt to fix the windows update hanging issue, I tried:
-Installing the system update readiness tool (Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [September 2012] from Official Microsoft Download Center) : the update hangs too
-Installing the fix it program here (Fix the problem with Microsoft Windows Update that is not working) : didn't make a difference
-renaming the software center file as in this thread (Script or command to delete contents of Software Distribution folder?) and re-attempting to install sp1.
I (my wife) has some very expensive programs on her computer that we no longer have install discs for. She had them before we were married, but they seem to have been "lost in the move." We can probably work with each of the individual programs, but I'd sure like to look at other options that allow her to keep her file and program structure intact.
