View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP dv6910us Pavilion and the DVD is not listed in Device Manager. DVD Tray opens and light comes on but does not play DVD. 1st USB port on left side gets - USB Device Not Recognized. One under it works and one on the right side works.OS Windows7 Ultimate. It is running kind of screwy so I wanted to reinstall Windows7 but with the DVD not operating Can't do it. Seems like maybe something in the register got erased or corrupted. If I can get the DVD and USB port to work I won't have to reinstall Windows 7
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 4 Emachines desktops running Windows 7. 3 of the 4 use a Cisco wireless adapter USB to get on internet through our Netgear router. Sorry if I'm using the names like I'm advertising for them, just don't know how much difference knowing brand to brand makes. Anyways one of the desktops USB just stopped working, it showed up in the device manager when you would plug something in but it could not read off of it. I tried multiple portable drives and it the USB wifi adapter quit working. After a few hours I somehow figured out that if I brought the desktop and plugged it into a ethernet cable it would get online. I then performed a Windows update and it fixed the USB's. It done that twice over the period of a week. Both times a updat fixed the problem. I say all that to say Sunday, the one computer that is hardwired to the router by Ethernet cable quit working. The difference is the USB's all work fine, but I believe there is something wrong with the Ethernet port. Basically the same scenario one day its fine next it's not. I've check for updates but it say there is none. I have changed ethernet cable between them, tried swapping port with the cable. Also I swapped other computers to the same ports, they got online fine without a problem. I called Emachines they walked me through a test like thing in dos then told me it was fine. I haven't installed anything recently it just quit?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new system and everything had been working fine but recently it won't recognize my camera/usb when it's connected. It had worked originally but now -- although it beeps when plugging/unpluggin the usb cable -- nothing shows up on the computer at all. My wife mentioned that she had canceled out of something once when she plugged it in and it wouldn't work after that.
System information:
Windows 7 pro
i5-2500k
HD 6950
1tb spinpoint f3
8gb 1333 ram
The camera is a cannon powershot sx-130 is, if that matters. This is the same for every usb port on the computer. Other devices (ipod, for example) are able to use the same usb ports with no problems and the camera works just fine on other computers. Can you plug usb 2.0 devices into a 3.0 port?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer (windows 7 64bit desktop) at the office seems to be not able to connect to internet sometimes even though the cable is plugged directly into the internet port on the wall. Sometimes it works one day and then the next day when I come into office again, and it won't work. Every time I need to do the ipconfig release and renew then it starts to work again. I also heard that my coworker experienced the problem too when using windows 7, but the older computers running on xp never had an issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new pc with a Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 motherboard and I plugged a Microsoft 600 Wired Keyboard into the rear port (designated for KB/Mouse by Gigabyte). The keyboard works in the BIOS, but when Windows 7 loads, the num lock light switches on, then Windows 7 says that "Driver not installed properly". In the Devices & Printers window, it shows an icon of the keyboard with a yellow exclamation mark and says "hardware not available". However, mouse continues to work. This happens in all the rear USB ports. If I plug the keyboard in the front port, Windows recognizes the keyboard, install the correct driver and it works! All the USB ports work fine otherwise (tested with thumb drive as well as mouse). I also tried with a Logitech K120 wired keyboard which also had the same problem.!!

View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night my new laptop arrived (XPS), still getting used to windows 7 etc... but i thought i would watch something through my t.v. Plugged HDMI cable in back of laptop straight in to t.v, changed the source and straight away i had a lovely sharpe picture of my deskop instantly.... or so i thought
im getting the middle part of my screen fine - but it is cropped so i cant see the tool bar (its too low) and the desktop icons are only veiwable if i move them closer in screen! Ideally i want to have identical screens on both so i can use both at sam time, but currently i can only view either or atm? and the t.v one being crop means i can use it as a computer (No toolbar etc..)
I could figure this out on XP but windows 7 seems beyond me atm!
I have some crazy problem with port 80 . Everything was fine since last 5-6 days. When i try to connect to some pages i get this note on picture.
i tried every posible browser and same thing ! also tried disabling firewall and nothing ...problem is still here! this is only one of many pages that i cant load.
To all the computer geniuses out there, I guess this isn't a windows 7 problem but it's about drivers.I have an Asus K53E-B1 with Windows 7 64bit. It comes with 3 USB 2.0 ports and that's it. I went on the Asus website today and found USB 3.0 drivers update.I can't just download those drivers and use them and expect USB 3.0 performance when I have USB 2.0 ports right?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 and updated all my drivers. I am missing two drivers, and I don't know what they are:
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communication Controller
What exactly are these? I own a Lenovo X200 Tablet. Any ideas where I can find the drivers for these two things?
I have a quick question about the USB ports on my computer. I have a screenshot hosted here on Flikr: USB | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Of the 5 USB's that are listed, one is a USB2. Is the USB2 Enhanced Host Controller a USB2.0 port? I am looking because I am going to buy an audio interface and if I have a 2.0 in there then I will get something a little better 'cos I want as little latency as possible when recording vocals.
There is one other thing also, if it turns out that there is a 2.0 port, is there a way to physically differentiate which port is the 2.0? I have 3 USB's on the back and 2 on the front of my tower. At the moment I don't know which is which and do not know what to physically look for when I look in or out of the case.
I have an application to control external devices via IRDA.The application only accepts IRDA connected via a serial port.I only have a USB-IRDA device.
Is there any freeware driver/software to create a virtual serial port and link it with the USB device?
is it impossible to open a port in mobile broadband with HUAWEI E156G ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedNew PC has a 1394 Port.
Familiar with the USB Ports of course, but have never used a 1394 Port.
What and where is it used ?
For what ?
What devices should utilize it ?
And whatever else I'm not sharp enough to know to ask about these Ports, please ?
I use my computer aboard a 47' Sailboat primarily for navigation and communications. As such, I run multiple external devices. To name a few:
WiFi Cards (2)
GPS
Pactor Modem
Iridium Satellite Phone
Verizon Aircard
Telcel Aircard
You get the picture. I was unable to accomplish a very simple task using VISTA, to wit, being online with my Verizon Aircard and using one of the WiFi cards to access my wireless printer.
I finally downgraded to Windows XP and this is never a problem anymore. A Verizon tech once gave me an explanation of why this couldn't be done in VISTA, but unfortunately the explanation went over my head.
Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed in Windows 7, or does that OS have similar problems as VISTA handling multiple communications devices operating simultaneously on different USB ports?
I have spent the last two hours trying to open a port for a remote control application.
I have tomato 1.27 running on an asus wl500gP router.
I am running windows 7 ultimate
i have an Arris voip modem through comcast
The problem is this, i forwarded the port correctly in tomato yet the port is still closed. I have tried the following:
Enabling DMZ
Disabling windows firewall by either the control panel or through services.msc
Enabled UPNP in the application, it opens the port according to tomato yet external port testers still say its closed
reset the router and pc numerous times
hard reset the router
Hooking PC directly into cable modem
I believe that this is strictly a windows 7 issue now as the router is out of the equation. The only security software I have is Avira free edition, windows defender, and (disabled) windows firewall.
Can anyone give me help as to why I cannot open a port? It would be greatly appreciated as I am leaving for a trip in 36 hours and would like to be able to remotely control this application.
I tried to change the default remote desktop port from 3389 to some other 4 digit number.
I did this via regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Terminal Server WinStations RDP-Tcp
I setup that port correctly as a port forwarder in my router. The original 3389 was working fine. However, the new 4 digit one is not strange enough (port forwarder is 'ok' according to one of those port forwarder checking sites). I tried to RDP from one network to my IP (confirmed correct) like this:
myipaddress:1234
1234 = being the actual port number I set up.
Of course, I do already have RDP enabled on both Windows 7 laptops.
What could be the cause of the invalid connection? It was working fine on 3389 by for extra security measures, I changed it to something else. I did restart the laptop as well.
if i plug my mic into my sound port its fine but cant change volume without changing volume on the device or on the computers master volume... if i check listen to device (so i get the volume control) i get an echo... is there any way to get rid of the origional sound? not the one that i can control
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's been a while since I've gotten my sound "working," but my current problem is that only one of my audio jacks work, one on the back. I know it's not the hardware because it used to work on vista. It hasn't been that much of a pain because i didn't have to change often between audio output devices, so i just dealt with it- getting back behind the computer and switching out cords. Now i'm doing it a little more frequently, so I can still just deal with it, but if anyone here does know something that may help, it would be very nice of you to let me know.
