Upgrade Path From Localized Version Of Vista To MSDNAA EN US Version Of Win7
I'm running an OEM version of Windows Vista Home Premium, and since I'm a class B netizen I only had access to a localized version of my operative system. The MSDNAA graciously makes a copy of Windows 7 Professional English and a copy of Windows 7 Multilanguage Pack available to me. Howerer there is no localized version of the former and no WinVista equivalent of the latter. The Windows installer aborts pointing out the localization conflict and links me to this unhelpful page. My OEM seems to have disabled the option of using Windows Anytime Upgrade, so I will not pour money into this option just to get the option to relocalize my OS to English 'just in case'. Also, I would really rather not lose a week into driver scavenging, clicking through programs installers, staring at progress bars getting filled (multiple times). I'd really want to just upgrade. Is this a dead end? Do I have to cross my fingers and wait for Godot err a localized version of Win7 to appear on MSDNAA? Or is there a way around this?

Difference Between Full Version And Upgrade Version
I have upgrade my computer (E6750 to i5 750, 3G DDR2 to 4G DDR3) and I am thinking about upgrading to 7 64bit. Currently I have a dual boot system with XP Home 32 and Vista Home Premium 32. I want to upgrade the Vista to Window 7 64 and leave the XP there. I am wondering can I but the upgrade version for the job?

Xp Upgrade Version
im building a pc and i want to know something. its my first pc i built myself, and i never had a full version of any windows because of it. but i do have a hp disc, but i dont know if it will activate on the new computer. im asking this because i can get a windows 7 upgrade far cheaper than i can get it for new. dose the xp installation need to be activated to work? or can i just install xp, than install windows 7 upgrade over it with little to no problem?

Full Or Upgrade Version ?
I am Currently running Windows XP Pro. I know I qualify to buy the Windows7 upgrade editions. I plan to install it on a new hard drive but the old hard drive will be there for upgrade verification. What happens if I later decide to wipe out my Windows 7 installation and do a fresh install? Or if my hard drive craps out and I need to do a fresh install? At that time I will not have an activated Windows XP os. Would I be better off with a full version of Windows 7?

Full Version Vs Upgrade
I have read here over the past few months that just about every upgrade disc of Windows allows a clean version install from within an already running copy of Windows. Has anyone tried this yet with Windows 7? I've got the RTM version of Windows 7 installed currently obviously and would like to know if I can just buy the upgrade and not the full version (trying to save my pennies).

Upgrade Or Full Version
The cost of the full version of Ultimate makes me want to throw up but I may not have a choice. I'm running Win 7 Ultimate RC. I do have Windows Vista Home Premium but haven't installed it since the first Win 7 beta came out. I do a lot of experimenting and frequently have to reinstall the OS. It's fun. I like to do it. My question is if I bought the upgrade would I have to install Vista first everytime and then use the upgrade? Since I do frequent fresh installs I'm betting that the full version is the way for me to go.

Clean Install Using Upgrade Version
Having followed the numerous threads carefully, confusion occurs with CLEAN install.There is a subtle, but important difference between a CLEAN install that is done as part of an upgrade to XP and one that is RETAIL clean  install. An UPGRADE, run from within XP (whether that is OEM or Full retail) has to be checked that it is validated XP before the Win 7 installation will run. The Win 7 will then install by reformatting the disc/partition containing XP, ie.. it's a CLEAN install onto a re-formatted drive/partition. If you purchase a RETAIL version of Win 7, then that will do a CLEAN install by BOOTING from the CD/DVD, it will install on a PC that doesn't have ANY previous OS, so it clearly can't be run from within one. That's also a CLEAN install, but the 2 are very different.I was searching this issue because at our Computer Club we have 16 machines with all sorts of variations in OS's. We want to create Dual Boot with existing retail XP one one partition and retail Win 7 on another. My understanding is that procedure is perfectly possible.

Requirements To Use The Upgrade Version Of Windows 7?
I'm thinking of getting the Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit "Upgrade" version. No where do I see any information about how exactly I can do this upgrade and what about my previous Microsoft OS I need to have in order to use it.I want to do a totally clean install of Windows 7 on a Hard Drive. In order to use the "Upgrade" version, what exactly do I need to do to the drive first, like do I have to install and then reactiavate a microsoft OS?Basically I am now using windows 7 Beta RC, and I want to just wipe it out, and do a full reinstall of the "Upgrade" version that I might get. My computer orginally came with windows xp pro, installed by a OEM computer manufacturer, a smaller custom PC builder type company, ibuypower.com. I still have my install of windows xp pro on another hard drive, and I can probalby find the original reinstall CD that I used to reinstall my windows xp pro a few times on this same computer, however I do not have my CD key in any printed form, (however I might be able to extract it from my old windows xp pro install?)Basicially I'm lookning for information as to how hard it is going to be to actually do a clean install of the "Upgrade" version of Windows 7.

Suppose I have a Windows XP pro x86 on my box, and I'm buying Windows 7 retail to upgrade my system. My search tells me that I can buy the Upgrade version to upgrade. I know it's not a direct upgrade. My XP was upgraded from Windows 2000, which was upgraded from Windows NT 4. Questions: What if the unthinkable happens and I need to reformat my hard drive? I had Vista installed, and ordered the Windows 7 upgrade. Meantime, I installed Windows 7 RC, which I got off the net. I also activated this copy. Reinstalling An Upgrade Version Of Win 7
I'm quite keen on purchasing an Upgrade version of Windows 7. I understand that the installation process first verifies whether I have a legit version of Vista/XP before it commits to installing Windows 7. Therefore, I have 2 questions relating to this: 1) Will my copy of Vista be deactivated after the upgrade to Windows 7? 2) Is it possible to perform a re-installation of Windows 7 in the future? I'm particularly concerned about Question 2 because the re-installation means I won't have a copy of Vista/XP installed -- and my Vista serial key may be deactivated so I won't be able to install Vista as a prerequisite to Windows 7. I've searched online for answers already but most of the results were written during the Windows 7 beta phase and may now be outdated. Some of the answers were also contradictory or very vague so I thought it best to ask the questions afresh.
