Tried to update my AHCI drivers with Asus but Windows 7 came back stating that their drivers were better than the ones ASUS have. Now install: Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller. The ASUS driver that I'm trying to install; AMD_RAIDAHCI_V3315402_V120010269_XPVistaWin7 on my F1A75-V PRO MB.
View 4 Repliesanyways, my main drive is a RAID 0 with Vista x64, but I have a second HD that is a SATA 250GB, which I installed Windows 7 on. The only way I could get install to work was to switch my BIOS to IDE mode rather than RAID. I would of course though, like to be able to access my Vista drive from Windows 7 (and more importantly, not have to switch between IDE/RAID mode at all in the BIOS, it's a pain).
Now, the one odd this about this all is that the drivers I have for Vista (x86/x64 drivers) for this mobo's RAID controller WORK when loaded on installation to identify and install to the drive, but seem to not load or not work in any way once the first reboot on install occurs. Maybe this is because I installed from within Vista x64, though.
(Incedentally, my motherboard is an M3A Asus, using ATI's SB600 for a RAID controller)
I've tried loading the drivers from within Windows 7 while in IDE mode, but the install program won't let me. At first it didn't allow because of version restrictions, but then I altered the ini file to get around that, but it encounters some sort of error when installing and quits.
Any help that can be offered, would be grateful. I realise it's a beta and not a real release, so I can get past the BSOD from my odd setup, and I really am enjoying playing around with it so far. Very very impressed.
Edit: Just in case anyone thinks of suggesting me to right-click the inf file and install that way, already tried, won't allow for it.
Today is my first day on Window's 7 and I've been having problems with it all day.
I get the "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver version 181.71..." so I download the propper drivers and it won't let me open it.

I can't find the file location either.
Also, not only does that not work but my NVIDIA Control Panel does not work. I double click, the loading circle comes up for 3 seconds and then disappears.
I can't just not download drivers, it's any .exe file.
I am not good with computers so if you explain it, please, explain it to me like I am a two year old learning to put together sentences.

I have tried the win vista 64 drivers with no luck. I have searched, for two days, for drivers AC '97 2.3 Compliant Audio (Conexant Audio 6.14.10.0575 from Gateway website), and the PCI Modem (Conexant7.22.0.0 1.4 MB 08/03/2010) do not work. I searched the Conexant website for drivers, again no luck.Other than that, after a HDD upgrade, 2GB memory upgrade this old machine, supprising, it runs very good.

I have the GA-EX58-Extreme Board and have just installed the pre release of Windows 7 7600 64 bit. Normally i have experience to get the BSOD when in staling with AHCI active in bios so i change to IDE mode. Installation went flawless and also the change to AHCI mode on Intel ICH10R controler went normal.
As always i got problem to change the J micron controller to AHCI and of cause i got the BSOD again. I installed the latest R1.17.48.16 driver and tryed again but no luck. Can some tell me what i am doing wrong. ? I have a hardisk and a dvd drive attached to the J micron Sata connection.
I have found on 4 different boards if I install in AHCI mode, Windows 7 seems to "find" the drivers for running in AHCI/RAID mode at install. If I install in IDE mode, it does not and I have no option to switch to AHCI/RAID if needed. In the past you had to press F6 (or whatever) and install them from a floppy. I think this is no longer the case with Windows 7. Can anyone confirm this. I don't even have a floppy and never will. I will install in AHCI so I have the choice in the future. Is there any down side to doing this and am I right?
Also - I know there is a registry "hack" you can use to boot into AHCI after installing in IDE but why does everyone not install in AHCI so they have the choice? Am I way off here? Are you planning to install in AHCI to have this benefit?
This happened when I was booting today after turning it of last night after using it successfully since I bought it.The AHCI Drivers are corrupt.Windows won't load, it is stuck on the load screen.Trying to repair windows using the various F8 options doesn't work because they won't load either.Even the recovery partion won't load, it's stuck on the Acer E Recovery screen "please wait" and it is stuck for several hours on this.Now, in BIOS, when I change to IDE mode, it will load the various F8 options like trying to fix windows, but the problem doesn't solve itself. Also, the recovery partion does load, but it only gives me an option to install everything to factory settings, not just reinstall windows. However, Windows 7 won't actually boot on IDE mode, so I can't actually get into Windows 7.Therefore, my AHCI drivers are corrupt while the IDE ones are fine. How do I install fresh AHCI drivers to fix my corrupt ones from a USB stick? I do not have a windows install disk, it is all on the recovery partion/recovery disks

However, this message appears: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now." The problem is that I cannot find the Intel 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller drivers for Windows 7 64-Bit to put on a floppy or USB drive. I've combed the Sony website and Google and the only Intel 5 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller Drivers that can be placed on a floppy or USB are for Windows XP. Without the TXTSETUP.OEM, I'm dead in the water! The 64-Bit drivers (INDOTH-00215023-0042.EXE) are for an already installed Windows 7. BTW guys, the the BIOS settings on this laptop is as anemic as it gets, so there is really no way to optimize there..

I know there are a lot of solutions on the net but nothing worked.I will try different version of drivers. But first wil try clean install with drivers only, without CCC. One guy did a extended research, and found aou that, without CCC, there is no BSOD.
I have a Kingston 4 GB usb pen drive, I am able to store large files (>50MB) on computers running on xp.However, pen drive unable to store large files (>50MB) on computer running windows 7.No problem reading from usb, but when i write data on it , stops midway and usb drive disappears. Have formatted drive with both fat32 and NTFS, scanned fo errors, scanned for viruses but no improvement.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to perform a clean/custom install of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on my VAIO SZ-650N. I have the upgrade disc and though its primary purpose is to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, it is confirmed to work with clean installs as well. Since I want to perform a clean install, I must boot the installation from the disc and not within the OS. The problem is that when I insert the disc into the drive and start up the computer, it'll pause for a moment longer than usual, as if it detects that the CD is there, like I can hear the disc spinning in the drive, and this little gray underscore will blink on the screen, but it will never give me the "Press any key to boot from CD" message and it'll eventually just load up my OS.The disc is in perfect condition and I can view its contents and run it from within the operating system...I just can't boot from it. Even the directions for clean/custom installs that come with this disc say that it must be done from the disc, not when the OS is loaded. The problem can't possibly be my BIOS startup order, because first of all the disc drive is selected to load first thing and when I insert other bootable CD's such as my beta copy of Windows 7, I can boot from it fine.
Edit: It will not let me do a custom install from within the OS regardless because it is unable to detect any drives/partitions to install Windows 7 onto. And the "advanced" option isn't there...I'm guessing because it's impossible to wipe the drive clean when the OS is already loaded.
I had upgraded my laptop from Vista to Windows 7. I want to do a destructive reformat but nothing I try works. I was supposed to press one of the F keys (can't recall right now but have tried them all) and none of those work. Everything I have tried has failed. I really REALLY need to get this thing reformatted. I tried using the upgrade disk and now when I reboot it tries to upgrade Windows...which is turning into an all night process.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently my PC's registry became corrupted, leaving me unable to boot. As I really want to keep my files, programs, settings etc I would much prefer to do an Upgrade install than perform a Custom one and wipe everything.
However, the Windows 7 disk insists I boot into Windows before performing the upgrade installation, which is the one thing I cannot do due to my corrupt registry. Compatibility Report is as follows:

The computer started using the Windows installation disk. Remove the installation disk and restart the computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation disk and restart the upgrade.
This is a frustrating cycle. I can't boot Windows, so I try to perform an Upgrade Install, which I can't do because I have to boot Windows.
Things I've tried:
- Various chkdsk commands, none of which have worked due to my drive seeming to be write protected
- System restore, which I was unable to do as apparently System Protection must be enabled on the drive and I'm unsurehow to do this
- All of the registry repair tools on Hiren's boot CD, all of which are either irrelevant to the problem or have given me error messages
As I have Hiren's CD I can access my hard drive through Explorer, so would it be possible to use Mini XP to attempt the Upgrade Install? If this isn't possible, how else can I repair my registry?
I am running windows 7 x64 on a core 2 quad. I can never seem to upgrade internet explorer 8 to 9. I keep receiving errors. I have deactivated all of the addons. My computer is completely up to date but for this one. I received error code:80246007 What should I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Windows 7 Pro 64, and Windows detects a Samsung 4828FN 3in1 printer and a Canon LIDE 80 scanner in "Devices & Printers" but appears to be unable to find drivers. I downloaded & installed Win 7 drivers from both mfg sites, but neither appears in their appropriate windows when called up. The scanner on the printer works and saves to files, so I know the USB connections are working. Canon Toolbox Settings cannot detect.
Of course the HP 1000 printer has no Win 7 drivers to download, so that one does not work either,
Also, when I try and select new printers from a "Print" drop-down menu, I get a message "The Active Directory Domain Sevices is Currently Unavailable"
Anyone have suggestions?
I have a gateway GT5656 desktop which came with Vista OS. I recently upgraded to win7 ultimate. I then discovered that my drivers were missing for audio, etc. I went to gateway.com and downloaded then installed the audio drivers. This seemed fine but when I went to use the front mic jack I received a message saying that I needed to visit this site and get vista drivers...Is this correct? Shouldn't I get win 7 drivers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a samsung NP-300V5A laptop for compsci at school, and picked it due to the fact that out of all the laptops at microcenter, this one was at a reasonable price with an i7 2670qm, however, coming from building 3 of my own very high end desktops (3930k w/ gtx 690 & ssd's) the 5400 rpm drive just was unbearable, so I went out and picked up a crucial M4, and replaced it. I also bought a copy of windows 7 home premium OEM and tried booting from that dvd, and it would not work, I just got a backlight loop, so I inserted the Samsung recovery install disc, and used it to install windows, worked just the same as any other win7 install, however, my internet is not working now, and my laptop's monitor/display is recognized as a generic nonPnP and won't go to its max resolution.

I've had 0 problems with it and make sure to install new updates once in a while.Usually when I install new GPU drivers, I delete all my old ones and install the new ones right after. When I do that, the screen use to shrink but never would it lose it's color. As soon as I reinstalled the drivers and tweaked the settings everything would work fine. I never had a problem doing this before so it surprises me that the whole screen loses colors when I do it now.

I got a new motherboard and processor today and whenever I boot up the pc I have to go into safe mode because if I boot as normal it will stay on the windows welcome screen with the rotating loading circle and will stay there. But when I boot in safe mode I cannot access my driver cd, it tells me to reinstall the program or something. So basically i'm stuck in a loop.
