View 1 Repliesi hope im posting in the right place. For the past 3 weeks my computer has had me so frustrated i dont know what to do. First off it started off just randomly powering off. Which got worse and worse. So we took it apart and made sure everything was clean and dust free etc. Now its not powering off as much but its freezing. Freezing alot. When it freezes you cant do anything. No cntl alt delete, you cant even move the mouse. Its like complete freeze. Also everytime it freezes when i try to restart the computer it hangs in bios about 5 times until finally after restarting it 5 more times i can make it back into windows. It keeps doing it and i have tried almost everything i can think of. I know its not overheating because i have been checking the tempurture of everything on the computer everyday. Everything is running super cool.

I recently updated from Vista to Win 7 (both 32-bit Home Premium). It was a simple upgrade, not a new install.
I've noticed with Windows 7 that when I go to do a shutdown, while the desktop is shutting down, it grays the screen and says a program is is not shutting down in a timely matter. I never saw that with Vista. It doesn't appear to tell me WHAT program is the issue. Also, it usually clears itself within a second or two, barely giving me time to check anything.
I've seen various WaitToKillApp and HungApp notes about speeding up shutdown. I'm not all that worried about making it shut down fast, but would like to know how I could find out WHICH program it is. If anything, I'd increase the time before it complains so it shuts down cleanly. I think older Windows would list the name of the program in a standard dialog box, but not this full-screen thing.
PS: I'm mixed on Windows 7. I've had to 'undo' alot of things and rely on 3rd party software like ShellFolderFix to get back 'power user' abilities.
also, each time i start the computer, there is the following message - error failed to load branding configuration -. couldn't find anything on the web. What could it be ?

i have an intel core i7 running 64 bit if that makes a difference.
I'm having trouble with my very new computer (Lenovo Y480 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit), which I've narrowed down to the following sequence:
1. I restored computer to original factory settings (to rule out possible causes)
2. I ran msconfig, and checked the boxes 'Safe Mode' and 'Networking.' I got the following error message:"System configuration cannot save the original boot configuration for later restoration. Boot changes will be reverted. The system cannot find the file specified"
3. The default boot option disappeared from the boot menu (Windows 7, default OS, current OS).
4. When I restarted my computer, it would not boot and gave me the error 0xc00034, stating that the file BootBCD was missing.
I did not do anything else with my computer after restoring the factory settings, and I did not connect to the internet. I originally encountered the problem when I wanted to try installing Windows updates in safe mode after some of the installations failed. I have replicated the error several times, including after successfully installing all Windows updates.
It's all about my friend's PC and it has the following configuration:

The first thing i want to do is to buy a new single RAM memory of 2 GB at 800MHz, because personally I think that the RAM is the weak link of the system. The first question is: What is the best combination? To have 3GB of RAM at 667MHz or 2GB at 800MHz.Now with the currently configuration (1GB at 667MHz) the level of used RAM memory in idle is 75%.The other problem is that every time when the PC is shutting down, the green light turns off and the red one is blinking very fast, giving you the impression that it's always lit; and the red light intensity is very low; (it emits less light). The PC has 2 coolers (one for CPU and other to the power source ...and the VGA doesn't have a cooler) and when the PC is shutting down the phenomenon with the lights happens and one of the coolers will never stop (i don't know which of them).the red light is blinking very fast at low light intensity and a cooler is on.and those will never end up until you will press the shut down button for a few seconds. The system was configured (installed the OS and the other programs)... by a guy with knowledge and he said that this happens because of the newer OS installed. (Windows 7).This problem doesn't appear when restarting the PC.It appears only when the system is shutting down. The second question is: Can the small capacity of RAM (1GB) lead to this phenomenon?
I am having an issue with windows 7 64bit. Every time i am done using the pc, it will randomly shut down, at different times. I have no clue what the issue is. I do not have a heat problem , nor PSU problem. When I am on the computer, whether it is 20 mins or 4 hours, no problems, but when I am done using it, and nothing is being used, it will just shutdown.
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy computer started to shutting down by itself a few days ago. It will shut down just from turning it on, sometime a few minute while its on, and even a hour later. One time, it shut down by itself but the PSU is still running. [code]
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a windows 7 laptop, and i'll be either working on a document or trying to upload an edited video to Internet when my computer inexplicably shuts down - taking with it all my hard work. i've run malwarebytes antimalware and it finds nothing. i also installed a norton security suite from comcast recently, so i don't know if that has something to do with it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a non-tech friend whose windows 7 machine has started shutting down as soon as he signs in. I have used combofix previously but he cannot get windows up long enough to run it in normal node. I had him boot into safe mode and checked out msconfig and the registry to see if anything was hung out there. I don't have any other options other than running combofix in safemode but I understand that is possibly problematic.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem where my Internet shuts off about 1 or 2 minutes after I open my browser. Its not a problem with my Internet connection (I have a 5bar connection) and I can use my I-pad on the internet with no problem. Im wondering what's wrong and how I can fix it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedit is a week or so that I have a problem with my PC.When I shut down the PC, instead of turning off, he restart. Before restarting, for a brief moment I can see a BSOD screen, but I cannot read it.After the PC restart, I see a small window telling me that the PC was restored due to an error. View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is when I shut my pc down I get a BSOD which says physical memory dump with error 0x000000 (thats all I seen, sorry) and then my pc restarts. it might be because of overheating. its 10+ hours a day on and its summer and freaking hot, i don't know
I just installed Windows 7 Professional 32bit Operating System on my computer and I will have it logged out but not shutdown when I leave work on Friday but when I return to work on Monday it is mysteriously shutdown. View 6 Replies View Relatedhere is a real head scratcher for you guys. My system will on occassion just shutdown. Its not a hard shutdown, it goes thru the normal Windows 7 shutdown process as if I had told it to shut down. I can boot it right back up, and all is well, nothing out of the ordinary. I checked out the event viewer and the only thing in there before this happened is an error with "Event ID: 36888" and it gives this as a description "The following fatal alert was generated: 70. The internal error state is 105". I have no clue what is going on. It has not done this while I was actually using it, it has always happened while I was away from it.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just finished building my PC and got windows 7 installed on my 32gb ssd. I then installed all the drivers etc, for the mobo, gpu, wireless card. So everything seems to be working fine but when i click start and shut down, the shut down has the shield logo thing next to it for updates and when i click on shutdown it says theres 92 updates. So i waited for it to install them and when its done it configures them and windows comes back up. But then when i go to shutdown again it still says theres 92 updates to install and does it all again.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy window 7 keep shutting down and windows can start on restart can't figure out the issue
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently build a gaming computer in the beginning of December. For the first three weeks, everything was working fine. By that, I mean that my computer can shut down properly. Now, what happens is that whenever I shut down my computer (or most of the time), the screen is either frozen on "shutting down", or the screen says "shutting down" but it doesn't actually shuts down. It just keeps loading and roughly 5 minutes later, it restarts.
I've tried reformatting my computer and performing a clean boot, but this problem keeps on occurring. I don't know what could possibly be causing this problem. indows 7 home premium 64-bit Motherboard: gigabyte z77x-ud3h ram: kingston hyperx 8gb 1600mhz
processor: intel i5 3570k graphic card: evga gtx 560 ti superclocekd power supply: thermaltake tr2 rx 750w bronze hard drive: WD caviar black 1tb
Not sure if its relevant, but I was using a friend's ram stick before (kingston 8gb 1333mhz). It was about after I got my own ram stick, the kingston hyperx, that this problem started to occur. Also, I am not and have not overclocked my computer.
When I install my vga driver on my windows 7 on biostar mother board the pc is not shutting down properly i.e the fans keep rotating & after few minutes the pc starts up again. But when i install the same on xp that works perfect. I don't where is the problem exactly.
My mother board-H61MLV2 Ver. 8.0
OS-Windows 7 Ultimate x64
